Facetime with Mac mini

Hi.

I have a Mac mini and I'd like to use FaceTime with it.

Can I use any kind of webcam and is the resolution the same as the camera's maximum, i.e. will a 4K webcam allow me to transmit in 4K or is there an OS limitation such as 720p or 1080p?

I have the Microsoft LifeCam HD (1080p) and it works fine.
