Not working under an angle is a real limitation of this thing.

If the iPhone X is on a table and you want to unlock it and cannot hover over it, you will have to let it fail so you can enter your password to unlock.

and the amount of distance needed is way too much. i put my code in far more often than with touchid.

faceid sucks.

I use a totally different option. Might not be for everyone, but it works great for me. I just pick the damn thing up and point it at my face. I know it's a major pain, but I figure I'm exercising my arm muscles, so it can't be all bad.

I am thinking 2018, likely with the iPad Pro models.
I will almost certainly take the X plus at the launch.
I feel great with my 8 plus, but I’d like to eliminate bezels and optimize the visible portion in relation to the phone size.
Since I often wake up the screen, on the desk at work and at home, I just wanted to understand what you just wrote.

Well it's certainly speculation on my part. They need to make Face ID work in landscape mode for iPad's so that's likely a given, but I am thinking more extreme angles and able to unlock closer to the face are the next improvements on the list. It would be best to wait for the keynote and see what they say.

Man people still complaining about this.... RETURN IT. Sick of people who have this phone complaining about it over and over again. I LOVE my X, you don't? return it... simple.

...or we can give feedback to Apple so they can improve it?

The bread in my toaster sometimes hangs and I have to dislodge it to get my toast out

Didn't want to start a new thread to let everyone know, so I figured I would just piggyback on this similar one

That awkward feeling when you try to be funny and nobody laughs

Labeling the thread title “FailID” immediately injects a negative tone. One can express their thoughts about Face ID, Not Sure why we need a thread on this topic that’s been started how many times now? The iPhone launched in November and starting a thread over a topic Thats been discussed multiple times is overly redundant and exhausted. We know some of the limitations with Face ID already.

I much prefer Touch ID, with Face ID I’m always having to enter my passcode.

It is because there are times and situations when Face ID doesn’t work unless you grab the iPhone or you hover over it...

And there no times that Touch ID doesn't work... oh wait, there are
Wet fingers
Sweaty fingers
Gloves
Dry and cracked skin
Misaligned finger
Etc.

I'm one of those people who doesn't unlock their phone without intending to use it. And when I intend to use it, I'm always holding it. I've had an X for months now and have never felt that TouchID was missing. So I have to disagree with the "necessary" part. I think you're assuming your needs are everyone's needs and that's just not the case. I think you need to add "for me" right after the "necessary" part.
