Doesn’t take much to pick up a damn phone. FaceID works fine. Don’t like it? There’s the perfect device for you with pretty much the exact same specs. It’s called the iPhone 8.
Lol this reminds me of before the X came out and androids had the finger print scanner on the back. Apple fans said how much of a pain it is to have to lift the phone up to unlock. Now you have to do it For the X "it doesn't take much to pick up a phone". Oh how the times have changed lol.

Works nearly perfectly for me-even at long distances, at angles, in the dark etc. Almost magical. I’m not too concerned with unlocking my phone when it’s at an angle where I can’t see the screen. It’ll instantly unlock when I look at it anyhow. Why would I want to deal with a button?

Touch ID was far more problematic for me. The first generation was awful-the second was better, but it was still an extra step. I’m glad it’s being phased out. It’ll be even better when all of the bellyaching about Face ID starts tailing off.

...or we can give feedback to Apple so they can improve it?

That awkward feeling when you try to be funny and nobody laughs

Myself and like 4 others "liked" his post. We thought it was funny. Maybe you are awkward?

Not working under an angle is a real limitation of this thing.

If the iPhone X is on a table and you want to unlock it and cannot hover over it, you will have to let it fail so you can enter your password to unlock.

Coworker had the same complaint and bought a wireless charger stand (Anker). Tops it off (battery) and sits at an angle - he just taps the screen, looks at it, and swipes. Says it isn't the same but it works.

Yeah I’m not fan of Face ID either. It’s a pain in the ass. I think the note 9 is definitely gonna take a lot of apples customers if it has FPS under the screen. And I’ll probably be one of them.

When unlocking my phone, Face ID works at about the same rate that Touch ID works. Where Face ID kicks ass is logging into apps like PayPal, banks, etc.

It’s already been heavily rumored by a reliable analyst (Ming Kuo) that the Note 9 will not have the fingerprint sensor under the display due to technological difficulties. I don’t believe it will either.

I don’t believe the Note 9 will sway Apples customers, primarily because it depends how deeply invested they are into iOS, with accessories like the Apple Watch, the AirPods, etc. It really isn’t that easy depending on how invested someone is an Apples ecosystem. And Android isn’t for everyone.

Yea well I said “if”.

I used Iris Recognition primarily on the Galaxy 8 phone and bgr or someone mentioned making it faster and more reliable possibly on S9 series with 8.1+.

One of the parts needed for Apple's FaceID is for now in short supply. Sounds impossible given these companies deep pockets.

For now, I'm sold on this face id thing.

Yeah my issue with FaceID is more that I’ve had to adjust usage behavior to accommodate FaceID.

I don’t have a problem with this but there needs to be a benefit in it for me in order to make these adjustments and there just hasn’t been. FaceID on the whole has been more inconvenient to accomplish the same tasks.

For instance, if I pull the phone out of my pocket I can be in to it before it even hits my face with TouchID. With FaceID I have to glance at it for half a second before I can swipe up.

Turning off awareness features has made it more livable but, of course, less secure. Even then there’s things that are still just not convenient.

If I have it in my phone holder sideways watching a video and I pause it for a few minutes to use the bathroom or something when I come back I have to pull it out of the holder in order to get back in. Still faster than typing a passcode.

If I’m using ApplePay I have to double-click the side button, wait, for the ApplePay screen to come up, then look at my phone and hope that I’ve timed this correctly so that it doesn’t turn off before it’s time for me to use the payment pad. With TouchID I just hold my phone (while off) up to the pad with my finger resting on the home button and everything happens automatically.

Adjusting to ApplePay was the hardest one. I’ve tried shaving seconds off when double clicking the side button to bring it up but it’s not fast enough. I’ve tried just putting it on the pad while in sleep mode and just looking at it but it always misses the first scan. TouchID is far superior with regards to ApplePay and interacting with other people around you. I could carry on a conversation and not have to worry about my phone. It working. FaceID makes it feel like I have to stop everything for ten seconds to get my phone ready to use for payment.

ApplePay is basically the reason I’m back on my 7+ right now.

Don’t know why, the U.K. version of the S9 can’t even beat the iPhone 7:

Another classic example of why the iPhone is better.
Really? Everything Apple pro uploaded this video. And he’s an Apple fan. The s9+ was faster then the X.

1st gen touch ID sucked compared to 2nd gen, and I didn't see nearly this many people complaining about 1st gen touch ID, rather most people were in love with it. I can only imagine how much better 2nd gen face id will be, but like how touch id gen 2 took two years, you can probably not expect face id gen 2 til 2019.

Going to enjoy touch ID 2 until that time, personally.

Ram management has been a problem in iOS 11.. The A11 buries anything Samsung can produce... Apple will fix and optimize everything in iOS 12 and Samsung will be playing catch-up again. I still think it’s funny that the 7+ outperforms the S9

When I use ApplePay on my X, I just hold it next to the payment sensor. When the transaction gets to the point where it sends the signal, my phone shows the screen with the double-click message. I double-click, FaceID recognizes my face, and the payment completes. I’ve had people tell me it is faster than using a chip card.

One is an actual fair video test, the other, the one you posted, is pointless as you have to take into account he is not touching the devices at the same time and the whole test is pointless. Also the American S9 has a different Qualcomm professor in it, the U.K. version gets an Exynos one.

Open up wallet, select card, phone should be unlocked by now. Press against reader. Payment is processed. DOME. I think you are taking extra steps.
