I purchased one on ebay as well and am waiting for mine to arrive. But i am curious. I saw in one of the other threads the original case has some soft materials inside the bumper for protection and was wondering if the knock offs have the same detail as the original ones.

Mine does, and it came from eBay as well...

Are there pads on the inside so the sides don't get scratched?

I just received mine from Ebay so i can tell you that the insides of the case has some soft material to protect the sides. It also includes additional material for you to stick to the clear parts of the case which are at the four corners.

The fit is really questionable. Mine is slightly lose on the left side. It is noticeable movement. I never had the original version so i am not so sure if that is also normal in the original version as well.

Yeah I got mine too and the fit is pretty bad. There is plenty of space for the phone to move up and down and the bottom cutout is not lined up right. It's obvious that these are from molds since there are jagged parts of the aluminum. I opened a case with eBay and we'll see how this goes.

I purchased mine from eBay, but a seller in the US and the quality appears to be pretty good. http://www.ebay.com/itm/151137692875?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

After installing rash guards and putting on the case, there isn't any slack at all. Plus the backplate is actually cut close to size..no major gaps. Shipping is fast as well..ordered on wednesday and I received mine on saturday...and this was from CA to the east coast.

Got mine from the same seller....no issues here. I was a big advocate of going naked until I got this. My favorite bumper so far.

The ultra suede gets ugly after a months use on both the real and knockoffs.

Element wants 14.95 for replacements.

I found a seller on eBay selling the backplate replacements for 6.00.

I just ordered a Ronin case with leather back and am anxiously waiting for it.

Just ordered one from this seller as well. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Looks great based on the pics above

Just thought of something. Can anyone confirm a mime feather glass will fit with this bumper?

Glass screen protector? Yes, it'll fit just fine.

hows yours holding up? Thinking of maybe purchasing one, but not sure how it would look on a gold iphone.

mine has been fine except for fitment issues. with the brush guards it worked perfect, but since I like to switch up my cases every few days, I had to remove the guards. since then there is some noticeable play and movement.

Overall, I would say it met quality expectations, but if you dont want to use the rash guards, there will be a bit of play in the case

Not too bad. When you say quality expectations, did it feel/look like a fake, or seemed pretty genuine?
And did you install the back sticker, and if so was it difficult to remove?

Net to site. I ordered one this past that was listed as new and original . The box had a clear window top with foil e symbol print on sides. It came with black and clear hinges. But it fit loosely on the right side of phone. . I just ordered one from the eBay vendor previously mentioned. $24.99 plus $5.85 for shipping. He is carrying silver and black frames. I am hoping this one will fit a little better. I will be have the first one up for sale. It's gun metal in color. I have the iphone 5s in white and silver. I'm hoping the silver one will not be too much silver on the phone,,,

I can comment on this. I purchased genuine Element cases. I got the gun metal first for my silver iPhone 5. I then decided when the silver Sector was available that it may match better and be more obviously aluminum. I gradually realized that the phone appeared to white to me and a contrasting bumper even black looked better. After a year and one quarter I have had the gun metal case on it and like it better. I went through gunmetal, silver, black fake pro model, a chrome Case Machine case. As far as overall function and looks the gunmetal won. I've been an Architect for 40 years so aesthetic judgment was my job.

What indicators should I look for on the gun metal case to determine if is a copy or original? The fit and finish is nice. It has felt type protectors premounted around the inside of the bumper. The nylon pouch has element stitched on it. Something I noticed that verried from pics of copies is that two of the hinge screws are designed to be fitted from the opposite side of all the other screws,

If it came with both black and clear hinges in the box, it's likely fake. Element has never included extra parts in the box, historically it's been near impossible to get them to send them out. It was only a month ago that they started offering the hinge parts for purchase separately.

I've never heard of two screws fitted from the opposite side. Sounds like a fake.

I'm looking to get a metal bumper for my iPhone 5S (Space Grey). These cases look great. Can anyone recommend a seller for these (or even the Solace or Ronin, they are both nice as well) for $20 or less shipped to the US?

I ordered the Black Ops Elite case from DX-Box, the case I got in the mail just today was the regular Black Ops case... So theres that... However, just reviewing the quality of the case I received, The finish seems decent enough and the back rubber piece fits pretty well. That's pretty much the only positive things I can say about it.

There were definitely a few glaring negatives though, on the left side there is a bit of movement in the lower corner. Somehow the case when pressed an any area on the top of the device will trigger the power button. Also the rash guards just plain suck.

I fixed a few of these issues though. I added a bit of extra padding on the corner that was loose, so it doesn't really give anymore, nice and tight now. I had to cut some of the padding on the inside of the case on the top to get the power button to stop turning off and on. So all in all I was able to fix it decently enough to where I can live with it. But that shouldn't have been the case...

I'm also worried that the rash guards will not be enough to stop the case from scratching my phone however my phone was already a little beat up from a random hiking trip I went on without any protection so I guess I'll leave the case on and see what happens.

Overall pretty poor quality. I wish they could just get rid of the stupid pouch, screen protector, etc and heighten the quality of the actual case for the same price.

It's easy to tell originals from fake copies. I posted in a different thread and also put up pictures of a genuine custom edition compared to a fake Sector 5:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1457484/

I thought that I would be able to mix and match the pieces from the 2 cases (one genuine and one fake) however there are very slight differences in the sizes of the 2 cases so this is not possible. Check out my pics in the above link.
