Got my Red/Silver from Jacky Nie after two weeks with the free shipping. I had my hopes up after seeing the pictures posted here but was disappointed after opening mine.

1) Joint between clear plastic insert and red frame. This joint is not flush and does not line up. The red frame is higher than the plastic insert This creates a gap at the side of the phone as well as two VERY sharp and pointy corners from the red frame.

2)Joint between red frame and silver frame. The shape of the two sides doesn't match. The wide and narrow areas are opposite of each other, creating a very ugly transition.

3)Joint between plastic insert and silver frame. The joint here doesn't fit properly and are not aligned with each other.

I've sent an email off to Jacky Nie...waiting to see what he has to say...

your buying an imitation case ( a metal bumper) sure it has its flaws, but its not like its a imitation Ipad or a console..

anyone provide me a link or email to Jacky Nie? I wanna order a few things

re: maximus96

Hi,

I had that problem with my case last week, only with the plastic piece attached to the left metal housing. I used the back of the spanner (rubber hand grip part) and lightly hammered it into place. It has stayed in place ever since.

I got my silver/silver Vapor Pro Spectra today and for the post part I am happy withit it. There a few minor things with it that I don't really see unless I was Telly nitpicking so I am good. Only took 9 days from the day he shipped to get to me here on the east coast with the free shipping so that was pretty fast.

I don't know if I'll keep it yet though. It is more industrial looking and looks more manly toe so I am not sure I will keep it but I happy with it for the price I paid.

I ordered from Jacky Lin http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/...uminium-Bumper-Case-for-iphone-4-4G-Free.html

PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS AND PERFORM A DROP TEST.

Let's see if you man up to your convictions. I can't wait for this drop test so you can prove once and for all that the $100+ price difference is worth it.

What is this i dont even?

LMAO, that's hilarious. I would doubt there being much difference between the real vs fake vapor pro.

Oh, it's because the mods decided to censor me. Guess I was too blunt about Mr. Scott.

I was telling Mr. Scott he should perform a drop test on his fake and real Vapor Pro.

I suggested it because he has been on a rant about how the genuine Vapor Pro is superior.

My main point is, I feel much more comfortable dinging and scratching my $21 knock-off. I would seriously be upset if I did the same to a $150 genuine version. Besides, if the genuine is really as superior as Mr. Scott claims, he shouldn't have a problem drop testing the case since the aluminum is far more durable as he claims.

I got mine from Jacky Lin...as I recommend him.

If you are not happy with it, then I'm sure someone would be willing to pay for it to avoid the wait time in shipping.

You definitely received a defect one.

No issue with Jacky Lin...so far people seem to be happy with his quality. Good luck.

can someone video tape this? I would like to see it :)

By the way Mr. Element...

Put your money where your mouth is.. You have both the knock-off and real one in your possession. Do a drop test on both. Film it so we can see you actually drop them.

There's several factors that you demonstrate by performing this drop test:

1) You can prove that the durability of the Element Aluminum is superior

2) You will prove that you stand by your claims

3) You will show that you have more confidence in dropping a $150 case than a $23 one

That third one is most important to me. You see, I did not buy this case for drop protection, but I do know it helps for minor drops now thanks to Pezz. I bought this case because it is still aluminum like the real one yet far cheaper. I have more peace of mind knowing that I can care less if I ding or scratch this one up. I will still use it and be just as happy. If I ding or scratch the genuine one that I dumped nearly the same price on as my iPhone, I might cry.

sorry, but no.

I was making a point between the fake one and real one that a stranger wouldn't even know the difference from a distance. I'm not claiming that both fake and real are identical. However, it is very difficult for someone to distinguish a fake one vs. a real one in public...unless they put both of them together and start making comparison.

And I agree with you, the real one does look better and the quality is probably better, but in the end, it's $20 (fake) vs $170 (real).

I have to admit one thing though. This is the ONLY fake thing that exist in my household. I didn't realize that but most of my things are expensive and brand names :) I guess I couldn't justify paying $170 for a case that won't protect the phone and will last until iphone 5 comes out. I paid $120 for a leather full protection for my previous iphone and I thought that was well spent because it helped protected my phone from numerous drop...but it did crack my front. Instead of the phone breaking out several pieces, it just created a line across the screen. For $120, thinking it would be a good investment, but I was wrong. I won't make that mistake again :) I come to realize that I would have been better off buying 2 years drop protection for $90. The electronic mechanism on a phone is just too fragile...a drop with any case just weaken or even damage the component over time....

Shouldn't you really be saying ... It's a copy of an Element Case, the finish on the real ones looks much better. At least that would be the truth.

If someone showed me an expensive case with the finish that my copy had, I would also say "wow... too much".

Mr. Scott is very professional...voicing his opinions. Unlike others who come here and immediately call it "chinese crap", etc... I have no respect for them and I ignore them because I won't go to their level of stupidity.

Actually, I disagree. Mr. Scott was certainly professional and great when he did his comparison. He quickly degraded into another biased person when he kept on going on rants about the superior quality of the real Element cases.

I have an issue with people who insinuate something rather than being upfront about it. Long story short, Mr. Scott feels $150 is justified for the genuine Element case and we are basically buying "Chinese crap" even though he wasn't upfront about it. Otherwise, what is his point in going as far as to speculate on the aluminum production process being superior from Element's side?

I have said it over and over, I review snowboard products regularly and now iPhone cases. I leave my reviews as just that... reviews. I don't discriminate on whether or not they are knock-offs. I buy or receive then review. The rest is up to the reader to formulate an opinion. I'm not going to jump into a thread about the competition and bash them touting that one is better than the other.

you got a point there....

I think it's time for me to move on to something else...I guess I can chalk off in purchasing a case for my iphone.

Again, thanks to everyone for their contribution and opinions. Have a Happy Thanksgiving/Christmas....

Take care everyone.

any recent purchase reviews from jackie lin? im looking at this one to buy!
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-f...aft-Grade-Aluminium-Case-for-wholesalers.html

what is the difference between that one and this one though?
http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/...rcraft-Grade-Aluminium-Case-for-iphone-4.html

From personal experience and from the other reviews and pictures in this thread, my opinion is that jacky lin is one of the best and most consistent sellers of these copies.

The difference between the cases in the two links that you have listed is that the "Chroma" listed in the top link should have a flat satin finish on the case and the Ultrasuede back and ear piece should be the same color as the case.

thank you! im having a hard time deciding - which one would you personally go for?

just received all blue vapor pro from jacky nie and the fitment is AWESOME. way better than my white vapor pro. he sent me one with a shorter tab which I don't mine as I think the tab is the ugliest part of the case... the color and finish is also way better than the white vapor pro.

for anyone looking to get one I would the colored ones over the white.

why bother arguing...

seriously... to all those trying to argue...
why are we even arguing about fakes vs real...
in my honest opinion... who gives a **** if its real or fake... these cases are seriously for looks and some what protection... so wut if u buy a real one for 170 over a 23 fake... they both have their own purpose for different people... using personal perspectives n persuading others to believe in thoughts of ur own is simply just stupid. Waste ur time some where else, don't waste ours.
ever since my first post in this thread, all e-mail notifications for this thread has been 80% arguments... can we just get bac to the topic? those who enjoy the real ones and wants to justify why, go make ur own damn thread, other wise lets keep sharing our experiences with these fake ones. i don't want to read pages and pages of arguments instead of reviews!

wow! That case is awful. Totally unacceptable, even at the price sold for. I purchased 3 from your seller, and all are very nice. Not perfect, but nice. Hopefully you get taken care of quickly.

Think of it this way. $150 for 2 years for a real one versus $25 every two months for a fake which ends up to be $300 over 2 years. It makes more sense to pay for the real one. ;)

Still laughing over that. :)

Which color do you prefer and what color is your phone?

I think the Silver looks best on a White iPhone.
My iPhone is Black and my case is the flat satin Black Stealth finish. I also covered the Silver band on the phone with a flat black wrap from Lucky Labs. I put a Matte finish screen protector from Power Support on the front and a thicker Matte screen/back protector from Phantom Skinz on the back. I wanted a more toned down, subtle look that would also be less likely to show finger prints.

The case that I had from Jacky Lin was Silver. My Black case is from Element, so I don't know if a Black "Chroma" case from Jacky Lin will have the same flat satin Black finish. If you wanted a Black case, you should send him a message and ask if he has two different shades of Black... standard glossy and flat satin.

Did you chose Hong Kong post by any chance?

That doesn't appear to be [CNC] machined [aluminum] either, looks more like some kind of casting process (dimpled surface texture, casting marks around openings, etc.)

It's a tough call because of the radical price difference. I'm shopping cases in advance of getting my 4S in a few weeks, and I had originally intended to get an Element case (direct from Element) since they're all good and/or at least covered for shoddy workmanship (according to friends who have purchased) ... a major problem with these knockoffs is the QA (or lack of). I've seen some that look terrific and others that are pretty poor.

Good thread, lots of outstanding info.

Hong Kong Port Air Mail took about 14 days. Tracking worked fine and USPS tracking worked when it got to the states.
