Any ideas who ran with it before fact checking?

Really poor show from those publications.

We had hesitated to post about these fake photos, but with at least half a dozen other sites having already picked up on the story with varying levels of skepticism, we thought it most important to set the record straight.

Really MacRumors?

I'd think you'd have taken the higher ground and kept this story off site...?

We've tried that in the past...they just end getting even more visibility from people who don't realize they're fake. Better it be made clear they're fake than have more people taken in by the hoaxes.

It's interesting that MR decided to post this. It seems that their logic going into posting it was that other sites had already done so.

I need to start targeting other websites with my stories if I want MR to start reporting it, I guess.

Another reason why Google's revenue model sucks for the planet.

that's a good point, this kind of revenue model does encourage folks to make **** up, but it's been going on for decades in magazines and "papers of records", as well, so in a sense it's already too late.

it's a little different with print media, though, because they have to show their subscriber numbers to advertisers first, making proportionately more or less money before their published content is viewed.

with this variation, the way to the top is by delivering consistent, quality, "trusted" content of interest (so to speak) making it much more difficult to cheat the system.

it's still 99% bs, though. ;)

MacRumors' logic going into posting this seems pretty sound, at least to me, since this 'these logic board photos are fake' story was posted because several other sites had already posted their own 'these logic board photos are real' stories.

It it just me- or can you see a 'box' around A7 with slightly off colored noise trying to match the chip color?

The time and effort put into this.....Hell you know what, if you are going to make something that doesn't exist, get creative! I want to see an A11 chip....I want a blurry photo of the new glass BENDING....I want another blurry photo of the phone so thin, it looks like paper! IF you are going to do it, do it right!

100% agree

Fake! It has seams!

Remember those days guys?

When that Mac rumor user said apple would never make a phone with seams?

I wonder where he is now ?

How is posting a truth-telling story not taking the higher ground when other sites have been taken in by the false photos? Not sure I follow your logic here...

I'm not sure I follow yours...

I think it's quite obvious that the story is fake so my question to MR was why would they choose to perpetuate an obviously fake story.

3232 Date Code

So is this proof Apple will not release an updated iPhone for another 19 years?

They they would be inundated with "Hey you guys are dropping the ball!Site (insert name)has a picture of the 5s board proving an A7!!!"

I don't see exposing a fake that's being posted everywhere as"low ground".Quite the opposite.

Those were hilarious, and he was by no means alone.

Since we're not currently in the year 2032, this code is clearly fake

Or is it . . .

Maybe they screwed up and forgot to cover up their acquisition of technology from the future. We're on to you Apple! :p

You obviously didn't read the full article before jumping onto commenting. MR's posting is to tell audiences the background story, especially the story of the photo being edited after MR's response, which is the BEST proof that the photo is a fake.

I really don't understand these people -- they feel that they don't have time to read every word of the article, but they always have time to add comments which so obviously illustrates the fact that they didn't read the article carefully.

Before engaging into arguing, please please please please at least read through the whole article and thread. Don't simply pour in your non-sensacle noise before you get all of the details of the thread.

Perpetuating? When they are clearly writing to inform the readers that the story, which is being reported on other sites as if it had some merit, is in fact fake, and how and why they know that it's fake?

Also, what is "quite obvious" to you, may not be so obvious to others, and MR, from a journalistic standpoint, is right to help educate those who can't spot the fake as easily as you can.
