I agree the 4th gen ATV is horrible. I am going to disconnect it again. I still hate that remote. Single sign on is a joke as many apps that support it still require me quite often to verify with a code. The biggest insult is that Hulu is still in mono even with the latest update.

How does Apple not realize the poster art "grid" is better than listing the movies in alphabetical order to scroll through hundreds of them? Like, why wasn't this updated for the Computers App in ATV4? So bizarre.

Exactly right.

And exactly wrong on Apple's part. My supposition for Apple TV not displaying everything in a pleasant, uniform and cohesive fashion is because they wish to encourage iTunes purchases. Maybe that is cynical, but why else should one's own media be relegated to a long non-graphical list?

At least the ATV3 certainly does this. I've avoided the ATV4 for the host of reasons mentioned in this thread, with the principal reason being at the outset when they insisted on that horrid white background (since, I hear, corrected). Who needs that? It didn't bode well.

I hope Apple reverts to past behavior and with the ATV5 and thinks of their customers first, introducing something most anyone must respect and will want to use (as definitely best in class).

I honestly can't figure out how someone would rather use the 3 over the 4.

The simple fact that it's much faster would be good enough.

Sold my Apple TV 4 on eBay. I just didn't get it. And iTunes (the Movie and TV app, I mean) is breathtakingly poor. Really quite astonishingly, comprehensively dismal.

There is nothing wrong with the AT4. Some apps are crap, but that is not Apple fault.
Use mine for Netflix and Beamer app and it does what I expect from it.

Don't forget the faster wifi, which is needed for streaming without buffering constantly.
Have my 3 laying somewhere idle / unused.

The remote is total crap, I have to agree.

Also don't say but you can use your phone or a IR remote. I hate using my phone to control anything which I why I despise the chomecast and I like to hide my devices as they are distracting so a IR remote is no good.

I am having the same feeling about the Movie and TV app. I feel they don't organize the content very well. I would like to strictly use home sharing but that is sketchy when it comes to waking my iMac. I'm torn. My video library is very important to me.

Hi, I have an iMac connected to the same network as the Apple TV. I have the App 'Air Video Server' installed and running on the iMac. Using the Air Video HD App on the Apple TV I have full access to all my videos, Films, music which are stored on a remote HD on the iMac. Functions perfectly. Very pleased...

That all depends on where your hiding the devices, IR remote signals bounce off walls and ceilings.
AppleTV 3 for example can be controlled fine with the IR remote out of sight behind the TV.
ATV4 can also use an IR remote so same should apply.
What I like about AppleTV is if you don't like the supplied remote you can use pretty much any IR remote you like to control it by using the Learn Remote function in the settings.(obviously Siri would still need the touch remote for ATV4)

I don't use mine for much outside of MLB.TV and it is worse now than ever. It crashes halfway through the first inning EVERY game I plan and lacks fast forward and other playback features that the 3rd gen has. Terrible software on the 4th gen.
