I've noticed a lot of MRers weren't/aren't too high on ABBA. I liked them. Though their hay days were in the 70's, they broke in to the South American charts with their 80's release (only in S.A., Australia and Japan) of Chiquitita on the Gracias por la Música album. Anyway, thought I'd mention them, for those who'll remember.

I've just heard one I'd forgotten was on my iTunes

Bring On The Dancing Horses by Echo and the Bunnymen :)

The songs on that were digitally remastered and released in Europe on "Oro" at the same time as their "Gold" greatest hits record came out. I've got them on my iPod. Fernando in Spanish is quite excellent :)

"All She Wants Is" and "Do You Believe in Shame" by Duran Duran were good songs, too. Depeche Mode, of course -- "Never Let Me Down Again", for example.

"She's In Parties" and "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by Bauhaus.

And didn't Nine Inch Nails start in the late 80s?

I'm 13, so I'm still discovering the 80's. :)

AC/DC, I've loved since I was 3. TNT, Hell's Bell's, Fly on the Wall, SOOOO good.

Guns N' Roses "Sweet Child of Mine"

Wow, will post more as I discover more of the greatest music decade ever :)

I am virtually an 80's freak, I love everything 80's, except for the shoulder pads and mullets.
There are too many 80's songs ( ecspecially ballads) that I love, but if anything I would have to go with 'Time after time' by Cindy Lauper. That is such a good song and it always makes me feel happy whenever I hear it:)

Tough call. Probably have to go with my first gut instinct and say Bizarre Love Triangle by New Order.

totally cool
Anything by Missing Persons, Echo and the Bunnymen, or Big Audio Dynamite. My favorite New Order stuff didn't come until the 90s.

Invisible Touch or Land of Confusion ~ Genesis

I'd say Solsbury Hill, but that's from '77...

Sorry mainly bands...becaused I liked all of their stuff. I grew up in the 80's...good tunes around that time-frame. Some bad ones too like anything from Winger or the Final Countdown from Europe....guess thats why its catagorized as "butt rock."
