I dislike beer. It makes me feel sick when I drink it, perhaps it's an acquired taste?... As for liquor, I do like some Baileys (irish cream) or Jagermeister, but if I were to choose from any alcoholic drink I do like my red wine. :)

Beer is definitely an acquired taste. I did not enjoy my first taste of beer when I was a kid. I remember how bitter I thought it was (and then went back to rum and coke).

I slowly learned to enjoy beer (I still hate cheap beer though) when I was around 20-21. Before that, it was typically vodka that my friends and I would enjoy (drinking age in Canada is 19, but we started a little earlier than that:p).

Mmmmmm...

I love trying all kinds of beers, but my #1 choice for beer is Sam Adams.

Sam Adams is catching up to Yuengling. It sucks it's almost twice the price of Yuengling though.

My go-tos are

Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA
Oban 14 year neat
Woodford Reserve rocks
Sauza home made margarita (no mix, only fresh muddled fruit) with salt and Grand Marnier.
Makers Manhattan up

But I'm not so much of a snob that I dislike an ice cold domestic light beer on a hot summers day. Sometimes that crap hits the spot. :D

For matters based strictly on principle, I drink American beer only. American beer, owned by Americans. Not like Budweiser or Coors. Just thought I'd throw that out there... ;)

1) Lost Coast Brewery beer.

2) Sam Adams beer. (Got me some Octoberfest right now)

3) Pyramid Hefeweizen

4) New Belgium Beer

5) Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. beer

My journey for just strictly American beer has just begun. My list will grow larger over time.

I agree with this........ Sometimes it just does.

There's a few that agree with you. Sometimes the cheapest stuff hits the spot best.

It took me some time. I went from really disliking it (but drank it because it was college and everyone else was) to merely tolerating it, and gradually started enjoying it. This took a matter of years. How are you with cider? Sometimes that's seen as beer with training wheels. ;)

Yeungling is great because you can get lots of it cheap and throw much better parties.

We had kegs of Yeungling at my house last year in college...ran about ~$90, which is deal when Busch is $75. Kegs of Sam Adams run $150.

Sure does! Many a time have my buddies and I come back from a long bike ride and decide we don't want to land at a bar. Although they aren't excellent, they sure do hit the spot!

Labatt Blue
Labatt Blue Light with Lime (soo good)
Sierra Nevada
Blue Moon

Crown Royal or Grey Goose on ice.

and recently Tequila Sunrises.

A really cold (like put it in the freezer before you go outside) Coors or PBR after yard work or mowing is hard to beat. Wouldn't want something that tastes better since I'm gonna drink it fast either way. It's disappointing to come inside and find that all you have left is a barleywine ale or something. :p

I'm not much of a drinker, but the one drink I often crave and can't get here is Bommerlunder. Germans here are bound to roll their eyes. Can't blame them...

Best beer is Düsseldorfer Alt. Best consumed in Düsseldorf. Yes, Alt is better than Kölsch.

I wish I could drink whiskey. It seems there is such a wonderful world of flavors and scents in whiskey, but the smell makes me sick.

I just started reading about this. My beer mag has a section on it and I have never heard of it before. Do you have a recommendation for something that I might be able to find in the states?

Since you like Belgian Beer have you had St. Bernardus Abt 12? Very tasty.....
I haven't had a mead commercially for years. Its a fairly simple matter of adding a few pounds of pasteurized fruit to your carboy to ferment for 10 days or so before racking off the pulp. Cherry was always one of my favorites but don't forget to pit and stem it before you pasteurize. Stinks to high heaven when its fermenting.

Haven't tasted a St. Bernardus. My favorites were Delerium, Kwak and Hoegaarden although I have never actually tasted a Belgian I didn't like (the beer, that is).

I like :

Labatts Blue, Guinness, Newcastle Brown, Shiner Bock ...
Bud light (like sex in a canoe), but good when the weather is hot.
I tried & liked Bellhaven ... others.

Bacardi 8 for rum. I had some killer rum last year. don't know the name but apparently it was $150 a bottle.

I dislike:
green chartreuse .. ugh!
Metaxa. An afternoon of this stuff in Chicago cured me.

Canadian CC (Canadian Club), next day is always unpleasant.

I drink a lot of different US microbrews, usually go for the hoppier stuff. One of my usual go to favorites is Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA. When faced with a place with a slightly smaller selection usually end up with Sam Adams seasonal or Yeungling.

I love beer. My usual philosophy on beer is the less light I can see through it, the more I like it. I'm a big fan of porters and stouts. Some of my favorites are Rogue Chocolate Stout and Shakespeare Stout, Beamish, Murphy's, and of course, Guinness, (tap only, I don't like the bottles/cans). For lighter fare, I'll usually go for Newcastle, Smithwicks, Fat Tire (when I can get it), Yuengling (when I can get it), and a bunch of others I can't remember.

I don't drink harder stuff that often, but I like Jameson's and the occasional Glenfiddich. The Macallan is great, but out of my price range. I do like a good rum, and I love Appleton Estates. Bacardi is a good everyday rum. I can't stand gin, and I avoid tequila like the plague. Long ago, tequila and I came to an agreement. I don't drink it, and it doesn't try to kill me anymore. Ugh.

Edit: Forgot to add that as much as I love beer, I usually don't like drinking it when I'm hot and sweaty. I usually go for cold water or a sports drink. (Yes, I know they are nothing but flavored water with salt and sugar, but I like 'em)

I'll admit I am occasionally delving into the green label Fosters (the ale) it has a much better taste than their regular import...I've drank 3 of them tonight I gotta say I really do like em better than the blue can

Sounds like you guys are big beer-drinkers. There doesn't seem to be many people who don't like beer, but they probably wouldn't click on this thread :p

I love cider. I think it's great on a hot day to sit down and enjoy an ice cold glass of Olde English cider. I guess over the years my taste buds will change and my tolerance for beer will be better. I might even enjoy it, as you now do. One can hope :D
