In France I was ordering my water with gas, and whatever water (with or without gas) that is ordered at a restaurant it will be bottled and you are charged for it. In fact the cost of water was such that I should have been ordering a beer instead. The first bottle I ordered there was 8 Euros, then realized I should specify the smaller 5 Euro version. Is that basically the same in the UK?Yes, it seems to me that the use of (and understanding of) the word 'soda' is one of the key vocabulary differences in English as spoken (and written) either side of The Pond.
In my original post in this thread, I forgot to say that Diet Pepsi was my favorite soda until I decided to cut our artificial sweeteners. After drinking artificially sweetened drinks for decades, the sugared drinks taste funny in comparison so I don’t drink them either, but I do drink V8 brand juice drinks which don’t qualify as soft drinks.
