Yes, it seems to me that the use of (and understanding of) the word 'soda' is one of the key vocabulary differences in English as spoken (and written) either side of The Pond.
In France I was ordering my water with gas, and whatever water (with or without gas) that is ordered at a restaurant it will be bottled and you are charged for it. In fact the cost of water was such that I should have been ordering a beer instead. The first bottle I ordered there was 8 Euros, then realized I should specify the smaller 5 Euro version. Is that basically the same in the UK?

In my original post in this thread, I forgot to say that Diet Pepsi was my favorite soda until I decided to cut our artificial sweeteners. After drinking artificially sweetened drinks for decades, the sugared drinks taste funny in comparison so I don’t drink them either, but I do drink V8 brand juice drinks which don’t qualify as soft drinks.

Depends on the size of the bottle, and - possibly - the brand. The well known names (Perrier, Pellegrino) are more expensive that less well known brand names.

However, personally, I always prefer to drink sparkling water if I have a choice in such matters.

I do. it had some quirky cans and advertising, celebrating the OK-ness of everything :)

I don't know that it ever broke out of test markets to national distribution though.
Exactly. It also had this bizarre 1-800 line you could call in to and get weird messages.

I can't recall if I ever called the 1-800 number or not. I do recall some of their ads would actually make disparaging remarks about the taste and so on, while making the claim it was still OK to like it hahaha.

I used to actually like it, but by the same token I am not surprised it failed :)

Edit: I see OK Soda made Time's list of Top 10 Bad Beverage Ideas

Cherry Pepsi. It’s the thing I just the most on the Keto diet. I fell off the wagon this past week and drank a few gallons of it. Has a really bad headache at work yesterday, missing the caffeine and sugar.

Does anyone else remember OK Soda?
Only because yesterday, cracked.com had a picture of it in an article. I had never heard of it before.

Really?! Yesterday?! That’s incredible. I have asked several people about it they the years and no one seems to remember it. Glad I’m not completely insane.

The Pepsi White is probably in response to Calpis soda in JP. While there, we, of course, affectionately called it “cow piss,” though it looks like it came from a bull more than a cow.

I don’t care what some things actually taste like, I can’t eat/drink anything when the color is “wrong”. I don’t want green ketchup or blue soda.

Cherry Cole for me. I would take one of these over a beer/alcohol any day.

I used to like Vanila Coke and got tired of of it. Up until about a year ago, I was drinking Mountain dew Livewire.

My grandfather, who was born in ‘03 and lived to a spry 97, always gruffly referred to any carbonated sweet drink as “belly wash.” Makes me smile to this day.
