AVPUP!Can I trade in my old one for $3,000 toward the purchase of a new one?
I’m waiting for the slimmed down design AVP 🥽 🕶️ in 2027. The price should be slimmed down too like around $1500.Be interesting to see if the new AVP has any features that the current AVP does not. I'm waiting to pick up a used AVP for under $1,500, and they're holding at around $2k near me.
If there are no killer new features, then I can't see a slew of upgraders wanting to ditch the old set for the new.
What is up with the incompetence of the FCC posting this kind of information online. I do imagine that the person posting these documents that are not to be posted online is going to get fired.
The United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has seemingly confirmed Apple's work on an updated version of the Vision Pro headset.

One of several documents the FCC shared today references an Apple-designed "Head Mounted Device" with a model number of A3416. An included image confirms the device is a Vision Pro.
The FCC's uploads are transmission tests, SAR test reports, and WLAN test reports, so there's not a lot of additional product information available.
According to rumors, Apple is working on a refreshed version of the Vision Pro that has a faster M5 chip. The headset isn't expected to feature design updates, with Apple simply updating the M2 chip to a newer, more capable M-series chip. The updated Vision Pro could launch before the end of the year, and it will likely continue to be priced at $3,499.
The FCC's files include a confidentiality request from Apple, but the documents were published anyway. The FCC also shared documents that hint at future MacBook Pro and iPad Pro models.
A slimmed-down "Vision Air" is in development too, but we aren't expecting that until 2027.

Development purposes. What does the headset need a faster chip for; we need the price to go down
If you want better apps, you need better hardware.
Patience. When Apple releases a cheaper, more affordable Vision headset, the goal is to have a ton of apps in place for people to enjoy the headset. That's why it's a glorifed development headset for now. In its current state, the AVP isn't for the regular Joe. They will get bored with it after a few weeks due to the lack of x, y and z in the App Store. You also need "customers", of which they are sorely lacking due to how wildly overpriced this thing is.
You could use a straw, or beer or soda out of the classic beer bottle shape… 👍🏻I really wanted my next Vision Pro to be slimmer so that I can drink something with it on. Right now anything I drink the Vision Pro blocks the cup.![]()
Trump is firing anyone with any competence. Get used to it. This is the new normal.Isn’t this the second time in as many days? Either this FCC is grossly incompetent, or they intentionally leaked it. Actually, both things are probably true.
No no Im saying when I updated ios 26 from ios 18 I saw under settings>General>Iphone storage scroll down close to the bottom it says apple vision pro 78kb but I dont have vision pro so I dont know why or how its on there.
There won’t be killer app on this form factor. It’s way too clunky.Development purposes.
If you want better apps, you need better hardware. The M2 can only do so much before you need a better chip. The highly sought-after "killer apps" would undoubtedly become even more impressive with enhanced hardware.
Apple is providing developers with the necessary tools and resources to expand their creative vision beyond the capabilities demonstrated with the M2 model.
Yes, especially GPU wise and power efficiency. The weakest experience in the Vision Pro is currently the passthrough, which while much better then competitors by a long shot still makes it so you have to regularly take it off / break the experience to read text or see 100% clearly.I have the M2 will the jump to M5 be that significant? I don’t really use it, more curious.
They have a separate chip handling the pass through thoughYes, especially GPU wise and power efficiency. The weakest experience in the Vision Pro is currently the passthrough, which while much better then competitors by a long shot still makes it so you have to regularly take it off / break the experience to read text or see 100% clearly.
Its not because of the cameras, the weakness comes from the GPU apple had to tone down the quality of passthrough because the M2 runs very hot and its GPU is weak while at the same time the vision pro is pushing 8k video at 90 FPS and stitching together a bunch of cameras in real time. Its actually nuts to think about the technology that went into it.
With the M5 and its much better GPU it should be able to push much higher quality passthrough while running at much cooler temperatures and not melting your face off lol.
Way too clunky depends on how and what you use it for. There won’t be killer app on this form factor. It’s way too clunky.
Form comes first, then find ways to fit the tech in.
Oura ring is a good to wear ring, and then they fit as much sensors into it to detect vitals.
Meta rayban is a pair of glasses you can wear everyday, and then they cramp as much functionality into it as possible.
Start with a goggle, doesn’t really matter how much computing power you put into the goggle.
If they put am Apple watch chip into a pair of glasses, and bring the same apps/notifications to a tiny display. Then add EMG to apple watch to track gestures.. it would sell like a hot cake
My understanding is the R1 handles eye movement and gestures but I could be wrong and as far as I am aware the R1 will also be upgradedThey have a separate chip handling the pass through though
