I know it's a little early since the newest iPad just came out a month ago, but I am just curious as to what features or upgrades you would hope for in the next generation iPad. Here is my list:

1) One unit that can handle both AT&T and Verizon SIM cards for 4G use.

2) Front facing dual stereo speakers.

3) 128 Gigs of on board storage.

4) Anti-glare matte screen.

5) 8 MP back facing camera with 1080p and an LED flash ( or two ).

6) Micro SD card ( or regular size SD card ) for extra storage.

7) Two headphone jacks.

I'm sure some of these features Apple won't give us, but I listed them anyways. Tell us all what you would hope for!

1) One unit that can handle both AT&T and Verizon SIM cards for 4G use. A universal unlocked one would be even betterer

2) Front facing dual stereo speakers. I use headphones most of the time so this really doesn't apply to me.

3) 128 Gigs of on board storage. Yes, yes, yes.

4) Anti-glare matte screen. Meh, I like the screen now.

5) 8 MP back facing camera with 1080p and an LED flash ( or two ). Would be nice if this came out in the next iPad

6) Micro SD card ( or regular size SD card ) for extra storage. Very much indeed so appreciated.

7) Two headphone jacks. Meh, not really my thing and don't think Apple would ever do something like this. They have splitters for this anyways.

My list is much shorter -

1)2)3)4)5)6)7) e.t.c. - stable quality from the day one without color spots on the screen, dust under the glas and wifi/3g connection issues.

Sure, your list is likely to be more realistic.

Well there's obviously one thing we really need...

A screen with 8x the pixels of the iPad 3

Better front facing camera, super fast charging... I don't know what else they can put, the new iPad is the most advanced tablet to date, and will be for a long time.

Edit: Stereo speakers :)

I would also love better sound, I often use my iPad as a very modest portable sound system.

The stereo thing is a nice idea but impractical for a device that can be rotated 90 degrees. You're going to pissing everybody off about 50% of the time.

The list is really very simple for me:

  • Thinner
  • Lighter
  • Better front camera for video conferencing
  • Quad core CPU
  • Ideally more RAM (but I don't think Apple would do that)
  • 128GB storage option for the price of 64GB now

I agree with all, except for the Matte screen. You can make a glossy screen matte but you can make a matte screen glossy really.

On the software side, I'd like to see a refresh of the UI or at least an option to customize it with themes if we choose to. I'd like to see some Android-like features such as moving wallpaper--yes its a gimmick but it looks really cool.

Stereo front facing or front ported spearers.

A notification light. (like a glowing ring around the home button, that'd be sweet)

sdcard storage. (really? it's 2012!! I know they make a lot of cash on 32/64GB, but at some point, come on!)

LED flash (with levels) for the rear facing camera.

Choice of anti-glare screen.

Unlocked universal radio.

agree

2) Front facing dual stereo speakers.
i prefer rear-facing ones. front-facing speakers are going to interfere with the clean bezel and people can spill liquid or food into the grille. i use headphones when i'm in public or if sound quality is a priority anyway.

3) 128 Gigs of on board storage.
i'd like to see a 64gb model as the mid-range option, meaning the 32gb would be the entry-level model.

4) Anti-glare matte screen.
never going to happen. i deal with the reflective glass by having an AG film on my screen to reduce the glare

5) 8 MP back facing camera with 1080p and an LED flash ( or two ). before they upgrade the rear camera, i'd like to see the front camera upgraded for Facetime use.

6) Micro SD card ( or regular size SD card ) for extra storage.
agree

7) Two headphone jacks.
Not needed. besides you can buy a splitter that can do this.

the improvements that i'd like to see with the next ipad are largely on the OS side.

They wouldn't put more RAM in, lol? Of course they would.. As they did from the iPad 1 to the 3, and the 2 to the 3.

I don't know if a quad core CPU is really needed, but a bump in speed would be appreciated, like 1.5Ghz.

4) Anti-glare matte screen.

An aftermarket film is a poor substitute for a manufacturer coating. There are new anti-reflective coating technologies coming to market, some may even be robust enough for touch screens. I hope so.

1. Uniform, brighter screen - Screen Quality Control!!!

2. Less charge time, less heat with oversize battery; in other words, improved battery technology

3. 128gb option with 32gb for base model

4. Return to thinner, lighter form

5. More apps that utilize retina display!!!

6. SD card slot

7. Better FaceTime camera

8. MS Office app available for iPad

I think most of these (except 6) will happen. It's called evolution and I can't wait for next year's model so I can "gift" my pink unit to another family member. They're all in line because they don't know any better:D

Well, I will probably want an HD front camera.
A much cooler iPad, ARM Cortex A15.
128GB model for price of the 64GB, so that it makes other models cheaper.
More extension for storage and accessories etc.
Hopefully the UK gets 4G soon.

Ka-Boom!

One feature that I did leave out... Liquipel. Making the iPad 4 waterproof! Then front facing stereo speakers would not be prone to damage by any accidental liquids spilled on them. I'd prefer them on the sides of the screen, laser cut so you could barely see the microscopic holes. The Asus tablet really did a good job with this.

The red glow ring mentioned before for notifications would be really sweet! Take not Apple!!

By the way, how do you guys insert photos into your comments on here? I can't seem to find that feature.

:mad::mad::mad:

Stereo speakers. (I guess it would take three to be able to be stereo in portraits and landscape)

128gb

A bit more power. Infinity Blade 2 is gorgeous, but it's a shame it can't run at full resolution.
