If they do manage to work out that rumoured IGZO screen, that could allow for thinner ipads and longer battery life.

That said, what are your thoughts on the ipad going back to the ipad1's non-tapered design? I have always thought of the ipad's tapered design as a mirage, in that the ipad is really only as thick as its thickest part, so the curved back just seems like a waste of space. If we flatten it out, that would allow for a thicker battery, or all other things equal, a slight reduction in thickness.

6) Micro SD card ( or regular size SD card ) for extra storage.

SD cards might be a nice feature for us geeks, but for the rest of the human population, it would only add to confusion. Just ask my girlfriend, who had an Android phone. The phone had an 8GB SD card, but only 512MB of memory onboard. Therefore all her apps went onto the card, and when we swapped cards, some of her apps disappeared. Needless to say she now has an iPhone. Imagine having to manage which apps go on the SD card and which go on the internal memory. I don't think most people are going to carry round an array of memory cards in their pocket, swapping them out when they realise a particular song or app is not on the one currently loaded. I did that on my Pocket PC PDA in 2003!

What I really want is more options on the memory front, and at a better price. As a halfway house I could see something like Microsoft did with Windows Phone 7 working, there's an SD card, but it's not user-serviceable. If you really want to upgrade, you can but it needs a reformat. Then you need another SIM-tray like slot, which I don't think we're going to get, seeing how Apple would gladly solder the SIM in if it could!

I would like to see a higher refresh rate for the screen. Things are still slightly blurry when you scroll up or down on the iPad 3.

I like how you think. I would like to see a iPhone 4-esque design, but thinner. Bonded glass and display. I think there is a mockup somewhere online of something similar. Edit: here: http://www.techdigest.tv/2011/07/ipad_3_pictures.html
With a flat back though! (Not a fan of the curved design)

They've hit the nail on the head for the most part, I'm struggling to think of realistic things they could add. Personally I'd be fine with a refinement of the current one. Basically, a bit thinner, runs cooler, longer battery life, and better QC on the screen. More ram and storage would be welcome as well.

Better camera with flash.

Redesign.

Better FaceTime camera.

A battery that doesn't take forever to charge.

Higher capacity.

Lighter.

Thinner.

Lets see if the iPhone 5 has the IGZO screen first.

....

Haha, sorry for making your quote shorter than it really is. I just felt it was unnecessary to have the entire quote :D

Well, you do have a good point about Android devices messing up with the app storage, but what I think the person you quoted was trying to say was, instead of having a limited internal flash storage, we could, for example, have 8GB of Movies on an SD card and play it using our iPads. This way, for 16GB users, they can have 16GB worth of music and apps, and have movies on SD cards. But, Apple won't let you do that, lol.
The camera connection kit is there for a reason... but it can't play movies directly off from it. Maybe better support for SD Cards. Just my wishful thinking :p

The iPad 3 improves upon pre-existing specs, nothing much beyond that. I don't see the iPad 4 as having much of a WOW factor, especially without Steve Jobs.

1). Laser beams

2). Nostril hair trimmer

3). Mini umbrella (to help cut down glare from sun)

4). Stud finder

5). Pez dispenser

6). Flashlight

7). Make it round so it can double as a turntable platter

iPad 3 didn't have Steve either...

Would like to see...

Quad-core A6 chip

FaceTime HD camera

8MP iSight camera

iOS improvements: dynamic icons for iPad, more efficient multitasking, notification center like mac, larger folders.

And one crazy one...if Apple dropped the 16GB for the previous gen iPads and iPad Minis and made the price start at $500 for 32GB, $600 for 64GB, and $700 for 128GB

Dual Headphones will it ugly and microSDHC WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Specs will always be bumped up so I'm not going to bother.

1. Drop the Rear Camera and focus on the FaceTime/Front. If they can't/figured is more than enough use it to DROP THE PRICE.

Seriously, who holds up their iPad to take Pics/Videos. LOL

These are PlayBook's advantages over the iPad...

2. Include a Pouch.

3. Dual Stereo Speakers. I use my Bose AE2i 70% but it would be nice to have.

Last and certainly not least...

4. What I've been crying about since iPad was introduced. VIDEO PLAYLIST!!!

I'm sure Apple will come up with something, but for my use I'm enjoying the iPad 3 just as it is. The replacement unit the genius gave me took care of the screen issue, this one is significantly better than the first. Very even with no dark spots, this one's a keeper.

I know it's a little early since the newest iPad just came out a month ago, but I am just curious as to what features or upgrades you would hope for in the next generation iPad. Here is my list:

1) One unit that can handle both AT&T and Verizon SIM cards for 4G use.

2) Front facing dual stereo speakers.

3) 128 Gigs of on board storage.

4) Anti-glare matte screen.

5) 8 MP back facing camera with 1080p and an LED flash ( or two ).

6) Micro SD card ( or regular size SD card ) for extra storage.

7) Two headphone jacks.

I'm sure some of these features Apple won't give us, but I listed them anyways. Tell us all what you would hope for!

:cool::cool::cool::cool:

I'm so glad you don't work for Apple designing iPads.

there's not much I would really want maybe thinner and lighter, I'd like a better battery that charges faster, the new iPad is pretty damn solid that it does pretty much everything I'd expect out of a tablet. Same with the iPhone what else could we really want out of it without sound ridiculous
