This is why I'm not ditching iOS. I got out of my tinkering phase a while ago and now, I'd rather just spend my time reading, going on vacations or watching my accumulated video collection. I just want my devices to do what I want them to do and my iPad+iPhone combo has been a fairly seamless experience.
I'm not tinkering around because things don't work, but because I'm trying to find workarounds to my existing Apple ecosystem. I'm realizing that being locked into Apple isn't the best thing. For example Google allows Chromecast to work across all platforms but Apple restricts Airplay to iOS. If I hadn't built up such a walled ecosystem I wouldn't need to look for these solutions. However I'm enjoying the process it makes me feel like I outsmarted Apple in a sense haha.

This is why I jailbreak.

I set my phone up the way I like and then leave it be.

It's been 3.5 years on the same iOS and the same jailbreak now.

I'm deep in the Apple ecosystem as well. While I have never seriously considered ditching my Apple products, I have an old Galaxy S7 that always reel me back in. I'm not saying the OP needs to purchase an Android phone, but perhaps that is what they need to do.

Also, the OP is about to have a baby. A child takes up a lot of time and energy. I doubt once their child is born, the OP will have time to think about how "bored" they are with their iPhone.

That's kinda my point. My primary device is the iPad and I greatly benefit from the calling, SMS and iMessage continuity between iPhone and iPad. If I switch from iPhone to Android smartphone, I'd need to find an alternative and I doubt I'd find something that works as seamlessly.

I'm not locked in to Apple but I do find them to be the most convenient option overall and I greatly value said convenience. Lol, my iPhone has just been a series of restored iTunes backups that started with the original iPhone.

I am a new dad and my life is going to have to change as I won’t be able to afford these product anymore as my baby comes first now

Sounds like falling out of love w/ an iPhone is coming at a good time for you.

Probably good to start exercising fiscal discipline, iPhone or not.

It's a phone. It's not really something you're supposed to be "in love" with. In terms of "not being able to afford these products anymore" - good, they last many years if you treat them right.

You're a dad now and your child is what you should be in love with.

You won’t care about phones much after your child arrives. Plus the iPhone has one of the best cameras, you’ll deff want that on hand to take all the pictures and videos of your child for years to come.

It's kind of ridiculous to fall in love with these things. Since Apple does not love you back. Unless you're a shareholder.

It is good we all have a choice. I did Android for over a year and it was not for me.
I wish Windows still had a phone, because then they’d have a great ecosystem with tablets, computers and game consoles.

I’d like an ecosystem, just like I do with my iphone, iPad,Mac and Apple TV.

Because Amazon quickly realized there is no market for their ‘Fire phone’, which had horrible software, and it couldn’t compete in terms with Apple/iOS and other android devices. Amazon is way better off investing in Alexa and smart devices in the home.

I been with iPhone since the iPhone 4 but I am just kinda running into burn out with iOS. iPhone is very popular, everywhere you turn there is an iPhone user and I kinda want something different but I am to deep in apple. MacBook, iphone xs max, watch 4,Apple TV and AirPods that I just don't think I could ever really leave apple. my questions is how do I fall back in love with my iPhone. I am so tried of having the same phone as everyone around me. I am also very hurt from Apple with them raising the price my IPhone XS Max was $600 down payment I just feel that out rages to pay! I am a new dad and my life is going to have to change as I won’t be able to afford these product anymore as my baby comes first now
You fall in love with your wife and your new child, a phone is a tool/toy. Start there

Switch to Android, suffer the pain of less ease of use and elegance, then come back to iPhone and I'll guarantee you'll fall in love again :)

Lock it away for a solid week. No iPhone. One week. At the end of the week you will have fallen in love again.
That’s not love, that’s addiction.

The kids growing up today will never know the time before every move they make, every location they go to, every friend they communicate with, and how often, what they buy, what they watch, what they listen to, even what they think is known by who knows who and sold to the highest bidder.

Move to Europe, it’s mostly Androids.

Your focus should be on your family, not trying to fall back in love with an electronic gadget. Get your priorities in order.

Just realize that you don't have to have the latest and greatest iPhone. I had a 6+ for over 3 years before replacing it with an 8 in September. Didn't want to pay the price of the Xs. My only real complaint is the small keyboard, I am not as accurate with it.

Maybe we should not Upgrade and consume a phone every single yr. I’m guilty of that but I am also like you in a different place in my life. The current iPhones are FINE. maybe it’s best we use our resources for other important things that don’t depreciate in 1 yr and who’s difference year after year is minute at this point.

Let’s all stop drinking the apple kool aid and not automatically upgrade and consider more important things. You know things that actually matter.

Going back on the camera, the pics on the 8 and newer phones are great and you won’t miss out on important parts of your kids life documenting it with your camera.

guys I love my family, its not that I love my iPhone over my family I was just asking how do I enjoy my Iphone again. I don't sit at my desk thinking about my iPhone all day. I don't have time for that with my wife and my 5 month old baby but when I do get 5 mins of time I try to find something that I can enjoy.
