Get a cheap android, perhaps you can make it your weekend phone.

By the time Monday rolls around each week, you'll be ready for your "business" phone again.

I go through my phone every month or so and look for new and useful/fun apps to try out. I also delete old apps I don't use, change my wallpaper, and put a different case on it (I'm addicted to new cases).

guys I love my family, its not that I love my iPhone over my family I was just asking how do I enjoy my Iphone again. I don't sit at my desk thinking about my iPhone all day. I don't have time for that with my wife and my 5 month old baby but when I do get 5 mins of time I try to find something that I can enjoy.
Get into pubg mobile. That game is awesome.

To be honest, If the U.S. government allow the Chinese phone companies in, Apple will be eliminated just like what happened in China

Iphone and ios are tools, means to an end. They are not supposed to be entertaining and "fun" unto their own, but facilitate different activities and apps which in turn do the job you need/entertain you etc.

When I was younger I used to like to tinker with things. Jailbreaking my phone and setting it up exactly how I wanted it only to re-do it a week later. Then as I got older the thought of tinkering with things just didn't appeal anymore. Just want things to work as I expect/need them to.

This is exactly what my life looks like.

It's a phone. It's not really something you're supposed to be "in love" with.

People fall in love with different things. Like Tesla was in love with a pigeon.

It's kind of ridiculous to fall in love with these things. Since Apple does not love you back. Unless you're a shareholder.

Different people fall in love with different things. A lot of it is related to culture and personal choices.

Tesla fell in love with a pigeon.

A Japanese man fell in love with his sex doll. https://nypost.com/2016/06/27/how-i-fell-in-love-with-my-sex-doll/

I wish Windows still had a phone, because then they’d have a great ecosystem with tablets, computers and game consoles.

I’d like an ecosystem, just like I do with my iphone, iPad,Mac and Apple TV.

I’m glad that Satya Nadella actually realised that Microsoft is not in a position to beat or compete with iOS or Android and canned the windows phone project to focus on windows as a cross platform OS. In some ways they’re way ahead of iOS and Android. This will be really helpful for them as a platform in the future.

The bottom line is at this point coming out with another mobile platform is just plain stupidity. iOS and Android is more than capable and enough for the globe as mobile platform solutions.

I want amazon to come out with a cell phone again but they dont:(

They will face exactly the same issue as what Microsoft faced with windows. The developer and ecosystem crisis.

Because Amazon quickly realized there is no market for their ‘Fire phone’, which had horrible software, and it couldn’t compete in terms with Apple/iOS and other android devices. Amazon is way better off investing in Alexa and smart devices in the home.

Yep exactly this. The only way to make it work now in this market is to come up with a completely new solution to a problem that people didn’t realise they had, to begin with. AI / home automation seems to be that new consumer market specific forefront.

Just realize that you don't have to have the latest and greatest iPhone. I had a 6+ for over 3 years before replacing it with an 8 in September. Didn't want to pay the price of the Xs. My only real complaint is the small keyboard, I am not as accurate with it.

Yep, I used my 6 for over 3 years as well until I upgraded to the 8 Plus last year. I probably wouldn’t have upgraded had I tasted iOS 12 on it.

Hmmm…tell me why I jailbreak my iPhones…

But you have to admit the jailbreak community is practically dead for lack of interest.

To be honest, If the U.S. government allow the Chinese phone companies in, Apple will be eliminated just like what happened in China

Hell no! I’d rather keep my data safe.

why are Chinese phone better?

Erm... depends on what you define as better. If cheap is better then yes and if you don’t worry about your data being used for nefarious purposes then yes. Can’t trust any of the Chinese phone manufacturers or the Chinese govt for that matter.

But you have to admit the jailbreak community is practically dead for lack of interest.
I will admit two things.

1. It has declined, due to the fact that semi-untethered jailbreaks have eliminated most of the casual jailbreakers. You have to want to do it now, not just give it a whirl and walk away.

2. That decline has effected a lot of traffic here at MacRumors in the jailbreak section.

Other than that, have you checked out Reddit at all?

https://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/new/

Doesn't look like it's practically dead to me.

Nobody is ever meant to love their iPhone. I enjoy technology a lot but at the end of the day I view these products as tools. The iPhone is a tool that gets my daily tasks done. Every day I am able to email, watch youtube, listen to music, take photos, use GPS (since I drive), Use GPS (since I'm a pilot), Control my house, Social media, make calls, etc.

The iPhone does all of this, daily, without stutter, with a beautiful interface, without a sweat.

This is why I justify the $1,500 I paid for it, because everyday I get value out of this tool.

In my opinion, the only other "tool" in your life that you have a connection to is the car. And we all know about love affairs with our cars.

I fully agree on why the almost $1,500 (with applecare) I spent on my iphone was fully worth it (to me)

if the iPhone xs max costs you only 99 dollars, will you live it?
Or if you make 19k a month, will you live the 1499 iphone xs max?

I felt like the OP about a year ago, so I bought an Android. I had a lot of fun with Android for a few months, but then tired of having to find apps for stuff iOS did natively (like passbook/wallet boarding passes). Plus, the alerts on Android never worked quite right with my Polar watch. So, after about 10 months, I went back to iPhone. The price of the latest and greatest are too much for me, but a 7 for $449 was a good deal in my mind. I figure that will last me 2 or 3 years, and by then a X or Xs will probably be $500 or $600.

no its not about that it is just about the fact that I don't want to pay for these iPhone anymore as they keep costing more and more and apple keeps raising the prices on all of the products.

What's so complicated? Most Android from mid to high range have more capabilities than iPhone.

More isn't always better. I've owned every Note phone since the Note 4/Note Edge and I get so bored with them and I always find myself buying each years iPhone. This year, I got the Max. I sold my Note 9 on Christmas Eve and I honestly don't miss it. I'll probably skip the next Note/S9+ because of the punch hole design.
