lol, Argentina goalkeeper has a good world cup and now his agent is looking at getting him transferred away from Aston Villa to possibly a Serie A club. Having a few good performances in a World Cup does not make him an outstanding goalkeeper because look at his performances at both Arsenal and Aston Villa, certainly not world class performing, because lets face it, if he was an already exceptional goalkeeper he would have already been snapped up by one of the top teams in one of the top leagues in Europe . delusions of grandeur me thinks
World Cup performances takes your value to a new level. He is a World Cup Winner which puts him head and shoulders above the also-rans. Arsenal and Villa are poor examples as both are teams that constantly implode and underdeliver given their sheer size.

World Cup and European championship performances also create demand on occasion for players who have had brilliant performances, only to then fail to deliver at big clubs who invest tens of millions in them. Having a few great performances doesn’t always mean that same player can consistently deliver at a club level and there are countless examples of that. There are also average club players who perform immensely well when representing their country too of course.

Cody Gakpo looks like he'll be one of the beneficiaries in this regard, though I'm not totally convinced of his talent or that his attributes are what United needs — not another left-sided attacker, surely?

Surprised no one mentioned it, but 2 players whose value would have gone up up significantly since the world cup are Saka and Bellingham.

Remember values can go up as well as down.

Two very good examples of this is Rashford and Maguire. One has been average and the other very poor for United but in the World Cup both put in excellent performances.

Why did they make Messi wear a see through nightdress? Very weird!
Hmm.

I think this is the wrong thing to focus on or even to question, but then again its good in helping us - football fans, fans of global sport and fans of olympics need to see and discuss.

As a footnote: Football is THE worlds most popular sport (play/spectator) https://statisticsanddata.org/most-popular-sports-in-the-world/

The World Cup, even beyond The Olympics at its core is seen as to showcase the best talent your country has. A chance above all else to claim your country is the best -- or so it seems the world commonly views The World Cup and The Olympics to be.

At its core ... The World Cup and The Olympics is so much more!
At the core is to show the best of each team, player to compete honorably, respectfully to be your best ... NOT just in the sport, but in your character! How you play, how you carry yourself On/Off the field, and to show not just the other country but your own fellow countrymen and the world how much character you yourself as a team player, a competitor, and those of us as spectators CAN BE. And over the years, how much we've evolved.

Think back to Jessie Owens, at The 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, competed after being oppressed in the USA all his life, and after being branded "un-American agitators".

The first athlete EVER to win 4 Gold Medals.
The first athlete EVER to get sponsorship - Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik shoes by Adi Dassler (or Adolf Dassler founded The Brothers Dassler Shoe Factory, 1918–1945 the precursor to Adidas).

Jesse through his evolved character of person, character of professional sportsmanship, and through incredible spirit of character and sportsmanship met a friend in competitor Luz Long of Germany.

And after all these achievements, Jessie Owens was welcomed back home via the back-door entrance. His Career as an athlete ended!

"People say that it was degrading for an Olympic champion to run against a horse, but what was I supposed to do? I had four gold medals, but you can't eat four gold medals."

I say all this ... after seeing France's Kylian Mbappé Lottin's lack of acknowledgement and response to Macron vs his better acknowledgement to the words of Argentina's Emiliano Martinez.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but actions speaks volumes for a lifetime. The same essence of professional sportsmanship and character between Jessie Owens and Luz Long is shown here at this recent event ... different sports almost 100yrs later.

So ... @Apple fanboy and all other Apple Fan Boys/Girls and fans of any sport, remember if Apple can embrace diversity, and international sports competitors, fans and the organizations that hold competition dear by first looking to listen and understand, then by learning more before imposing our own thoughts/beliefs then we all should see better within ourselves.

Some may say ... it's possible The Olympics may have been thought of to avoid wars.

The legs have gone on Ronaldo as you can't have a single player dragging an average team along constantly. Argentina got lucky that they have excellent players like Di Maria and Mac Allister to get them over the line.

The photos of Macron attempting to engage with Mbappe while he was in the middle of a moment with another player is kind of pathetic, but nowhere near the levels of thirst demonstrated by Salt Bae, who tried to worm his way into photos with the Argentinian players holding the World Cup. That the only reason that overrated meat-slinger was there was due to his friendship with Infantino further underscores the disgusting nepotism and narcissism that runs the highest levels of the game. Somehow, the beauty and utterly compelling nature of the game itself transcends these utter morons who run it and abuse it for their own ends.

I never thought about Saka's worth, as I have not heard a whisper of him potentially leaving Arsenal. Bellingham's worth was already sky high — as much as I've love to see him at United, he's surely going to city or Real.

Rashford has already shown some better form for United this season, and his performance in the World Cup only underscores that. His confidence is coming back, so if he can stay fit he should be a force to reckon with.

The more conservative setup for England plays better to Maguire's strengths. If ETH wants to play a more aggressive style higher up the pitch, Maguire is a poor fit and it's best for everyone if he moves on.
