Movies in Canada

This is the best thing that has happened to Itunes Canada since it's release. Keep up the great work apple. Better late then never.

Cheers

I'm fairly happy with the rental price. Sky Box Office are £3.99 (keep for 7 days/finish viewing within 24 hrs) and I've bought these on impulse from time to time. The purchase price is a moot point for me as there are few films I'd choose to own.

I would like movies with subtitles but I see no mention of it. (I'm not deaf but do struggle to understand some accents ;) )

Why HD only on Apple TV?

why it doesn't allow HD content to be played on my Mac Pro?

does that mean that if I am going to download and watch it into my Mac with 30" ACD, it will only be DVD quality?

this doesn't make sense:confused:

Note the Applesque TV. How about we demand they make it for real. I'd buy one, but it would have to have OS X, multi-touch, blu-ray, solar, nuclear fusion, Wi-Max and a microwave oven built in as standard, and be less than £250.

Rip off!!!

I've never rated anything on this forum before but I felt the need to do so on this occasion. I GAVE A NEGATIVE because of the fact that Apple is charging £7 for films on the UK site.

I can get films on discs either online or from the likes of HMV or ASDA for less than that! For example, why on earth would I want to buy Batman Begins from Apple for £7 when I can get the two disc special edition for only £4.97 from ASDA???

I'm sure some people will respond with "Apple isn't forcing you to... yada yada yada" and that's fair enough. I know I'm not forced to go through iTunes but that is not the point. The point is, the pricing is too high.

Another crazy thing is that apple is pricing these cheaper than their albums!!! Weird.

I would pull in, but iTunes has only got 700 movies. LoveFilm which I pay for has 55,000. Beat that!

And for LoveFilm I pay £15 a month, meaning for the price of an iTunes movie, I could watch 4, but Lovefilm is UNLIMITED!! Woo!

Good to see it's here, but too expensive and too little range....

I don't have a HD TV yet =]

I'm waiting till OLED comes out and hopefully I can get a nice LCD/Plasma relatively cheap!

No offence but that's extremely stupid - and exactly what my friend said before I talked some sense into him. He then bought a 40" 720p set for £500 which he's delighted about.

If you want to wait till OLED comes out, that will be realistically in 4 years time on a consumer level - with LG/Samsung, the main panel producers quoted as saying 32" panels will begin mass production in 2011. (This is the moment my friend finally saw the light, realising it was stupid to wait).
http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/24/lg-display-aiming-to-mass-produce-32-inch-oled-tvs-in-2011/

Even then, they will be high-priced devices that won't impact on sales of LCD/Plasma - and will take another 6 - 12 months before retailers feel the need to start reducing to clear some stock to make space.

So feel free to wait over 4 years before you buy your first set, whilst the prices for HDTV's are starting to level out now. By the time 4 years come around, some folk will be harping on about transitioning their LCD sets over to OLED...

Buy one, buy an :apple:TV or get a HD subscription - and your lounge will be happy forever and ever.

whats the hell is wrong with apple? do they think were made of money????

i mean i am well paid, and i think these prices are crazy expensive.

yes it can be considered a rip-off, unless the downloaded content is HD.
Agreed, but if I'm not mistaken this is not the case. Hopefully HD downloads will catch on more than iTunes Plus, which still seems to only be available a minority of all music on the iTMS

It's not the prices, it's the mediocre films that bothers me.

According to the Times Newspaper the content is NOT HD.

"Significantly, Apple's service will not include HD films, suggesting that studios will still seek to convince owners of new Blu-ray devices, which play HD content, to buy films on disc."

TV looks a lot like a kuro

yeah according to the times the apple tv is mac only, which shows how much fact checking they do.

Where does it say that? I have looked but I can't find it...

EDIT: FOUND IT. Sorry. Owners of Apple Macs can also watch the film with a TV-style remote using Apple TV, a white box costing £199 that beams content wirelessly from the computer to the TV. Someone send that Jonathan Richards an email to tell him he's cocked up!

In a time when the cheapest Mac with a screen would cost you £700, people are complaining about a £2.49 film?

Its a fair price. Get over it.

On play etc, you can literally buy the films for £3 (some of them), and you get the hard copy.

so really you need to think about it, because to be honest its not really a fair price.

yeah this is also a problem, i just dont like being ripped off.

I mean apple could make this amazing.. £20 a month unlimmited movies or somthing similar.

I have a funny feeling that they will do this after they sting all the early adopters once again for as much as they can.. sickening

Somebody raised a good point about the Broadband Providers too, if you download movies your well on your way to being throttled by your ISP!

What TV is that?

Could it be a sony model? I've seen these in Apple stores...
UPDATE: Sorry - it double posted. Also, I think this is just a fake TV.
