  • a lot better battery
Huh? You may want to check those facts. The X battery is 2716 mah and the 8 Plus is 2691mah per iFixit teardowns. They both use the A11 processor and 3gb of RAM. And the X uses OLED which should be more power efficient than LCD.

Anecdotal what people believe is meaningless.

and in fact real life initial tests have shown literal minutes between the 2 devices usage difference.

  • speed (for some reason 8+ on 11.2 seemed a lot faster than this x)
Again, lack of fact checking. Both X and 8 Plus have the same A11 processor and amount of RAM. More than likely the OS isn't fully optimized for the X, considering it's a beta (that you shouldn't be running on your primary device to begin with)

But we get it trying to justify your decision.

I don’t particularly care what phone people like better. Apple made both for a reason and you should love whatever you spend your hard earned money on.

I do have a question though. This X+ that people keep hoping for. What would the size be? If the relation from X+ to 8+ is the same as X to 8 wouldn’t the thing be bigger than the Note??

what i miss from 8+ :

bigger display with real colours
a lot better battery
a lot better keyboard
full status bar
better gestures (i actually loose 3x time to close apps on x)
better price
speed (for some reason 8+ on 11.2 seemed a lot faster than this x)
no mitch and vídeo shown with the right ratio

what i will miss from x :
better front camera

I stopped reading as soon I saw that you missed iPhone 8 because of bigger display with real colours? That's what OLED is about, better colors and the display is still big!

With X, I got around 6-7 hours of usage time for web browsing, YouTube and other social media browsing. With 8+, I consistently got at least 10+ hrs for similar usage. With X, I could literally see the battery percentage going down 3-4% every 2 mins.
Lol really? I’ve literally been on my X all day today ( for about 9.5 hrs) and STILL HAVE 39% percent. For me, simply amazing compares to my old 7 plus.

I can’t argue with most of the things you listed, but does 8+ have better battery? From the YouTube tests I’ve seen X seems to have significantly better battery life. I never owned a plus model phone but my X has really good battery life.
[doublepost=1509936739][/doublepost]And just to clarify I’m not questioning your choice, I’m in no position to tell other people what phone they should use. I’m only curious about the battery bit since it contradicts the test I’ve seen.

I upgraded from an iPhone 7Plus. At first I didn't like the smaller screen. Don't believe people who say screen is same size, it is NOT!!! But after a couple days, the screen is fine for me. I originally jumped on the Plus phones thinking it would replace and iPad mini, but doesn't really. I end up using it mainly for phone features and iMessage, SMS and web surfing. I rarely used the landscape mode on my 7Plus. iPhone X is a very nice size compared to the plus and I think that is better than having the larger, wider screen of the Plus.

After using Face ID, I would NEVER want to go back to touch ID on a phone. If my thumb had the least bit moisture on it, it would fail, but not Face ID. I have not had it fail my yet where I have to resort to entering my passcode. I though ApplePay would be real awkward to use with that first step pressing side button twice, but in actual practice it is much better than touch id because you don't have to awkwardly hold the phone out and wait - just bring it near the terminal instead and super fast payment because the authentication is already done.

Battery on 8 + is ridiculous good.
I’m at 46%
Usage - 7 hours 26 minutes
Standby - 16 hours 19 minutes

How is the X display not smaller?

It’s perfectly okay to say you prefer the smaller display. OLED is better, might fit your hand better. Those are good reasons.

But notice how much more content the 8+ displays in a single frame of video content.

I’m returning my X. It’s the battery life.

I still have my 8+ and the difference in battery life between X and 8+ is night and day. I believe 3 days is more than enough time to get a gauge of how X is performing in terms of battery life. It’s not good at all for my usage.

exactly feels like you

you are seeking these online things which are not reflecting real life...
both me and other people are telling the same, so, you are free to believe us or not.

it's not more content but the wider aspect ratio; you are stretching the content horizontally on the X.

If you double tap and crop the X video it wont cut the top and bottom off like that.

It's the same on some smart TVs where you have different zoom and panoramic modes. When you use those modes you lose a tiny sliver on the top and bottom to get the content horizontally edge to edge (like on some older programming not in modern 16:9 but 4:3 where you get black bars on the sides)

...and then you have the same size video experience as a 4.7” iPhone on a $1150 iphone...

Kinda cool I guess...

Again simply not true. Cropped the video fills the screen vertically (the phone width).

The X is wider at 70.9mm than the 4.7" at 67.3mm (somewhat in between 4.7 and the plus at 78.1mm), and with smaller bezels, thus the screen is wider than the 4.7"

Thus the landscape video is not as small as a 4.7" vertically or horizontally (if its taller then its wider keeping the same 16:9 aspect ratio).

It is somewhere in between the 4.7 and Plus when cropped. Maybe 30-40% of the way in between per the graphic below?

But let's not let the facts ruin it again here....

Enjoy!! For all you GOT fans using HBO app. Looks like someone forgot about the safe area directed by Apple. Doh!!

Now you see why it’s basically a 4.7” experience and step back from the Plus.
