final decision - from x to 8+ again

I would def want the X+ to be a little bit wider for proper video ratios and less letterbox type of stuff. I have a few little other grievances myself but I’m putting the phone thru it’s paces for 10 days before I make a final decision.
With the 11.1 update my 8+ just feels like the perfect phone now.
Seems like i can use it till it breaks.

Now you see why it’s basically a 4.7” experience and step back from the Plus.

X and 8 Plus are pretty much same to me. Battery is same since back on my 6 plus camera is same other than new gimmicky stuff and outside of doing gestures instead of pressing the button, it's the same. Screen size is dang near the same anyone that notices a difference is kinda being anal lol. Gave the 8 plus to my son and I will play with the new toy till the X plus comes out which I'm sure it will. Really digging the phone though. I use it for Viewing my photography, social media and watching a lot of Netflix. Coming from the S8, S8 Plus, Note 8 and 8 Plus, this is a great overall phone. I will for now be using it as my daily driver.

most chances the bigger X will be exactly the same ratio only bigger.

Who knows ... did same test on my 7pkus versus my X and no difference , in fact the X fit a bit more on screen! Colors were much better on X. But it really is splitting hairs

I expect the same however this won’t be an issue because in that set up current Plus owners lose nothing when making the switch .

But this is a forum filled with like minded people so why not. Alot of disses coming from forum users about "why do people post these threads" but you all come to read and share your thoughts so content is content.
It's great we have so many iphone choices. It's also great we have a forum were so many share their thoughts.

My X just arrived. I haven’t set it up, but initial thoughts are that it feels good in my hands compared to my 7 plus. I’m hesitant due to watching the screen often and worried about battery life.

well, I can let you know my battery life is about the same as my 7 plus, actually quiet a bit better on the X about 8 hrs running it hard all day! So for that I am pleased, and i am not easy to please always 🙂 Good luck!!!

Lol...Huge GOT fan....and can't wait to watch next season on my Xs Plus...yea it's delayed in case some didn't know!
Anyway...we have a lot of Plus owners trying to justify all sorts of things here with the plus vs the X on things like colors, width, screen retio, etc etc.
I was a plus owner since the beginning and owned them all, since I've been using the X since launch I will say this to plus owners...
The X IMO is just better, sorry my peeps, it's just better in every way for me. The screen now that I have a properly calibrated screen with awesome and beautiful colors looks amazing, the speakers are loud, and super clear, did I mention the screen is beautiful!!! And I don't miss that heft with a smaller screen and huge bezels one bit!
Seriously this will be a debate from people who are either wrapped up in a contract, can't seem to land one, or just don't want to spend the extra money, they will for probably the next year find ways to justify a plus with huge bezels, yesteryears design, and a still some what nice screen to be better than the very modern iPhone X.
The plus has better battery life, that's it! Not by a mile, but just a little better. And that's where the debate ends in my opinion.

The strength of Apple products and iPhones was that they were intuitive out of the box.
Of course we have a familiarity bias, 10 years of good user experience
Apple send me an invite to a free 30 minute lesson on the iPhone X, says it all really.

iPhone X form factor is perfect for my hands as was iPhone 7. But if Apple bring's Plus version of X i will definitely check it out.
You'll probably get better battery life with the 8+ imo. I feel the X took a hit in the battery life due to the increased resoltion.
When i was at the apple store with the iPhone X I owned and dumped around, a lot of people actually asked me questions even though I'm not an apple staff member [although i wish i did have a job ther ehahaha] but from what i seen most people were ecstactic and super surprised when i showed them the "new gestures" [it took me only 5-6 hours to get accustomed to it, not a huge learning curve IMO].
Then again i told them , "im like a customer like you are just play with the phone and see which one you like and go for it. i can't tell u which one to exactly buy that is based on what you want.."

The battery life in iPhone X is actually fairly impressive. But of course battery life is also variable, mainly because it depends on Settings, applications and overall usage throughout your day.
Many of the reasons you list are devoid of any factual base. Also, 2 days is a pretty short period to try something different than what you have become accustomed too over what has likely been several years. That said, if you like the 8+ more then you should certainly stick with it.
IDK, I didnt need a 30 minute lesson, says it all really. Tbqh they shouldve always been doing this sort of thing like sending instructions and documentation especially as hundreds of millions of people will use it.

Apple disagrees with you by offering them. They would not be if the X was intuitive as per every other iPhone, when you upgrade .

This is an optimization issue. I agree the plus screen is slightly and I mean slightly bigger, but the reason things are cut off is because the video is not made to fit the aspect ratio of the iPhone X. If and when things are filmed to fit this display, this won’t be the case anymore.
