What does justify the price (any price) is that there exist legally competent adults who will actually pay it, completely voluntarily, e.g. without a gun to their head or some-such.
.

Absolutely! For years I had very high-functioning adults *begging* me to let them invest their entire nest egg in my company. Add all of those up and that just proves that my company is worth $50 billion.

Things is expensive. but it's still $40 cheaper for the Desktop + iPhone app than OmniFocus is...

I have been evaluating "Things" for a while since beta, as well as Omnifocus, Process 3 (which for some reason isn't discussed very much), and a couple others that were so unsuitable for my needs I forgot. I narrowed it down to Things and Process very quickly, and ultimately chose Process because I like the interface much better and for the following reasons:
ical integration
priority
custom fields
import/export
ability to group tasks in sub-folders
much better attachment handling

So for me Process is a much better app for my needs, but to be fair some may consider it more of an outliner than a pure "GTD" app, but it appears to be quite capable of that as well. For me, I don't really follow the "GTD" concept, I prefer more of a simplified project management approach since the things I work on may take some time and revision. I have to say Things looks to be off to a great start for a new application and I hope they will improve it's functionality on some of the points I mentioned.

Process currently free...

Thanks for the suggestion, errordiskfull! Have discovered Process for free at http://www.macheist.com , will check it out. Also just discovered that the price for Things doesn't include VAT, which is added on in a grand total *after* you've sent them your credit card details. Is that even legal? I think I'll sit on my cash and use alternatives. Perhaps in a few months I'll check Things out again to see if it's improved much.

Remember The Milk (www.rememberthemilk.com) is a pretty kickass GTD service & has a free iPhone app to accompany it.

$25/yr for the Pro version, but worth it.

Check it out.

I hope you take a look at Pocket Informant then. We've were showing off our software catty-corner to Things at MacWorld and we got such a tremendous response I wish we had final software to release, not beta in-development stuff.

Our philosophy is that it has to be dead simply and we've been doing mobile software for over 8 years now, so we know what the issues are with mobile interfaces - especially mobile interfaces designed by desktop developers.

We design our software focused on the platform we use - BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, iPhone - and I think it showed to most people. A lot of people came by and looked at our software and how it integrates the calendar and tasks with a GTD concept (or Franklin Covey if you prefer) and told us that they were looking forward to it because we really focused on that ease of use factor compared to other GTD apps. $12.95 is what we're going for with a free Lite version when we ship at the end of the month. http://www.PocketInformant.com/

Wow that looks beautiful. Can't wait to try it. I use the native Calendar app extensively, so if this is better, I am definitely willing to try!:D
