Okay so not long now to go until Apple's 'Spring Forward' event where pricing looks to be unveiled for the Apple Watch.

So I thought, let's all have a guess at pricing! There's a little template that you can copy and paste below so there's six price points to guess. Of course, the price of each may be the same, but if you think so, just put the same price for both the 38mm and 42mm.

Watch 38mm -
Watch 42mm -

Watch Sport 38mm -
Watch Sport 42mm -

Watch Edition 38mm -
Watch Edition 42mm -

Let's see who get's it spot on at launch! All guesses in $USD and for the base model (cheapest model) of that collection.

Here's mine

Watch 38mm - $499
Watch 42mm - $499

Watch Sport 38mm - $349
Watch Sport 42mm - $349

Watch Edition 38mm - $1599
Watch Edition 42mm - $1599

Here's mine

Watch 38mm - $499
Watch 42mm - $499

Watch Sport 38mm - $349
Watch Sport 42mm - $349

Watch Edition 38mm - $1599
Watch Edition 42mm - $1599

I like that you don't have the "size penalty" in your estimates. :)
I think the prices you're sharing are plausible, but I think the Edition will be a bit higher.

Yes, it's a fashion item, and you don't get charged more for buying a bigger size Polo from Ralph Lauren. Also, Apple made it seem like the 42mm is the standard, and the 38mm is the small.

So, I think it'll be positioned as

"Here's Apple Watch, too big for you? Don't worry, we've created a smaller one for you."

Whereas, the iPhone is more like

"Here's iPhone 6, want a bigger screen? Don't worry, we've created a larger iPhone 6 Plus for you.

The Watch is just personal choice, whereas the iPhone 6 Plus is an upgrade.

Watch 38mm - $499
Watch 42mm - $549

Watch Sport 38mm - $349
Watch Sport 42mm -$399

Watch Edition 38mm - $2199
Watch Edition 42mm - $2499

Thats my estimated guess, I think there will be an increment for the larger screen, $50 on the Sport and Watch. I believe the increment on the Edition will be higher increment of about $300 for the extra gold in the larger watch.

Watch 38mm - $550*
Watch 42mm - $550*

Watch Sport 38mm - $350
Watch Sport 42mm - $350

Watch Edition 38mm - $2000
Watch Edition 42mm - $2000

*Both of these are with sport band, obviously the price is higher if they have more expensive bands. That includes the Space Black, which may only come with the link bracelet. That may very well be more like $750

Out of curiosity what do you have the 38mm and 42mm Editions's the same price? If anything it seems the Edition would be the most likely to have a price difference between the sizes since it uses a precious metal.

My guesses:

Watch 38mm - $549
Watch 42mm - $549

Watch Sport 38mm - $349
Watch Sport 42mm - $349

Watch Edition 38mm - $7495
Watch Edition 42mm - $7495

I'm guessing the Edition will be priced like jewelry. I hope I'm wrong and that it's closer to $5,000 but I think $10,000 is well within the realm of possibility.

Some Swiss manufacturers are going to introduce gold-plated watches for around $1,000. The Edition is 18kt gold, so it will be a lot more expensive.

:( I'll be so sad. Then my wallet will be.

I was thinking of going 42mm but I do have smaller wrists and if the $899 price point for the SS Space Black 38mm is at that price or cheaper then I would gladly pay that.

My only complaint is that some of the other bands (i.e. the classic buckle) have the regular Stainless Steel attachment parts so it would look a bit silly (I think) with a darker watch base.

Yeah I wish there were more bands available for it. Hopefully Apple releases more later. For a while I really thought that I might not get that version because the price might be so high, but a combination of hype and the idea that I should definitely buy the product I want and not settle for less have assured a Space Black Preorder.

I don't think size will effect pricing. The difference is minuscule, 4mm doesn't allow for any appreciable improvement in viewing, it's simply a matter of wrist fit.
If the 42mm swallows your wrist, it's not a good fit.
If the 38mm looks too dainty, it's not a good fit.

Shoe manufacturer's don't charge different rates for shoe sizes, or clothing sizes, etc.

Even with the Edition Watch, I think Apple will have enough margin, that they wouldn't charge for a size difference.

I say, size won't effect price.

I'm not sure, I see gloves in size S it was 29€ and in size M it was 32€.
So they will have a difference on a the Watch size price.

Sorry - typo - meant $5499 for 42mm Edition - will edit original post now!

Totally in agreement with you there.

Gold 38mm and 42mm - $1299

So Apple will sell the Edition models at below cost, based on an estimate (which doesn't even include the gold in the straps)?

AVAILABLE STRAPS:

Sport Fluoroelastomer Strap Blue/Pink/Green/White/Black $49
Classic Leather Buckle - $99
Milanese Loop - $129
Leather Loop - $149 *only available for 42mm
Modern Leather Buckle - $179 *only available for 38mm
Stainless Steel Link - $199
Stainless Steel Black Link - $229

I've seen a few people guess this since Gruber published his article, but why on earth would the Milanese Loop be cheaper than the Leather Loop? I just don't subscribe to this theory that they've listed them in price order on the website. If Apple charge $149 for a bit of leather with a few magnets inside, it'll be daylight robbery. Especially since the iPad Smart Case is $79, and includes a lot more leather and, I presume, around the same amount of magnets too.

I know they will be expensive, but if they're charging $80+ for less than what you get for one of their own iPad cases, I definitely won't buy anything but the very cheapest model (if that) on principle.

I can see the link bracelet being $200. I think that is still very expensive, but more in line with the other offerings.

Watch Sport 38mm - $349
Watch Sport 42mm - $399

Watch 38mm - $649
Watch 42mm - $699

Watch Edition 38mm - $2499
Watch Edition 42mm - $2699

My guess is close to many others, but I think the SS model will cost more than a lot of people are thinking.

A few days ago I thought the edition starting at $1799 was a good target but I am revising that. I have the 42mm $200 more because it will have more gold in it.

However, I think the key thing in pricing will be the band. I personally think each model will come with a basic band, including the edition model. I think the bands can get very expensive, especially for the edition model.

Thinking price levels of $69 for the sports bands to $399 for the edition bands. I suspect that even the colored bands like pink will be an extra cost. (Yes, I am going for pink)
