However, I think the key thing in pricing will be the band. I personally think each model will come with a basic band, including the edition model. I think the bands can get very expensive, especially for the edition model.

Except there are no (aesthetically) compatible sport bands for the Space Black SS models and the 38mm Edition model (if you want the black strap).

I think the black Sport Band would be fine for the Space Black SS model. The Space Black body and the tiny non-coloured SS pin are hardly going to clash horribly.

EDIT: I may have slightly misunderstood, I apologise. I don't think the Space Black watch will be sold with the black rubber band, but I imagine if one wanted it, it would look just fine.

I suspect the space black model will come with a plain black band. If you want the steel one, you gotta pay extra.

Also lets not forget they might add additional band designs over time. They might want to see how popular it is before they go crazy with design options.

I don't think size will effect pricing. The difference is minuscule, 4mm doesn't allow for any appreciable improvement in viewing, it's simply a matter of wrist fit.

I say, size won't effect price.

It most certainly effects cost. 4mm wide and 9mm thick of gold i doubt Apple will chalk up as "minuscule" when multiplied by 50,000 when buying precious metals and growing sapphire to build these things.

I think the sport will be 8gb and the higher end stainless steel watch 16gb, so many would jump up to the stainless steel with double storage for an extra $200. I would:)

Watch 38mm - 549.00 16gb basic band
Watch 42mm - 599.00 16gb basic band

Watch Sport 38mm - 349.00 8gb basic band
Watch Sport 42mm - 399.00 8gb basic band

Watch Edition 38mm - 2499.00 16gb
Watch Edition 42mm - 2999.00 16gb

Inventory and supply is going to be crazy with so many versions.

With mismatched SS accent (pin) on the black sport band? Not likely of Apple to do this given their fanatical attention to detail.
Have you not seen this sport band?

I am predicting those who are predicting for the Gold Editions will be less than $2k or so less than $5k are up for massive disappointments/prediction failures.

My heart says the lowest they could is really close to 5k. Over/under does not matter. I will be surprised if they go under $3k or even under $4k.

My mind says they start at $7.5k. Okay, at least $5k.

I will be shocked and would buy without hesitation, regardless of looks and features if they are under $2k. Or even $3k. Or $4k.

There hasn't been any indication of various storage capacities. Not sure if they will be different, but way to think outside of the box

That's why the Space Gray sport band will still look good with Space Black SS, but since it's not listed as a model in the SS collection it won't be an out of the box option. You'd have to order that separately. That's how Apple will upsell the Space Black model.

Notice it says Space Gray (not Space Black) stainless steel pin. Two different finishes.

I am interested as to why you say this.
It's probably technically impossible for there to be that much gold value in the watch. So, you are basically saying you feel Apple must be looking at around $3000 to $7500 of clear profit on the gold models?
It's fine if you think that. We all have our own guesses at the moment. I'm just checking that's what you feel?

Understandable opinion, but you keep saying that Apple's only choice is a mismatched pin. That's obviously not the case.

I read somewhere that per some people in the know about gold pricing, the price or the amount of gold alone that will be put in the watch is estimated at $1.5k. Anyway, I forgot, pretty sure more than $1k. So if that is true, I am pretty sure Apple will not price it to be less than $2k. And considering, Apple will have to spend a lot of money now in security and configurations of their stores just to accomodate their rich customers (or gold edition buyers), I do not think Apple will price their gold edition just to break even considering all other investments / expenses because of it or just to please their less-rich fans.

----------

Iif the not so rich masses by the millions can afford the iPhones (considering the actual costs in making them), the millions among the rich (in the luxury watch market) will have no problem buying the Apple Watch gold edition regardless of the price.

A typical gold watch has about 30-45 grams of gold. Plus the buckle has some gold. And generally speaking jewelry has high markups, even higher than Apple's typical margin of 35-40%. That's why the mall jewelry shops can run perpetual "50% off" sales and why Tiffany stores have sales per square foot close to Apple (pre-watch).

$3k maybe has a chance.

Yep plus something like that, thanks KPOM.

Oh yes, I was just interested by the though process behind this.

It will be very interesting that's for sure.

Personally I don't see this as a reality as it's such a departure for Apple, but hey, I could be totally wrong on this :)

It's going to be interesting how Apple will justify such a price for something made by Apple.

I'm looking forward to seeing this all pan out.

Okay so not long now to go until Apple's 'Spring Forward' event where pricing looks to be unveiled for the Apple Watch.

So I thought, let's all have a guess at pricing! There's a little template that you can copy and paste below so there's six price points to guess. Of course, the price of each may be the same, but if you think so, just put the same price for both the 38mm and 42mm.
