All you had to tell the girl is that you did a restore before you came in (if you did, and you should have) and you set it up as new.

She would have said OK and just got you a new phone, but since you didnt do that she would have to, they must check if it was just a bad settup. You can do it first, or they will do it.

Then they will give you a new phone

that wasnt the problem, i did a factory restore, she asked me i said yes, she plugged it up and said wellyes it is but i should do it again anyway.... id of sat through that but like i said the NEW handset would HAVE to be mine if i said yes to wanting it, and if there was ANYTHING wrong with it id of had to of KEPT it or got another handset next time i came in as they only have so many in the store.. i wouldnt of been able to have my old phone back...

she even said shes keeping her for the proximity sensor fix as hers had problems. i wasnt gna have that on my new handset lol

hope that clears it up for you

Just back from the Fort Collins ATT store to return the phones. I purchased them online from ATT. They were very nice and apologized for the issues. They didn't give me any trouble and I was back on my 3g's pretty quick.

I really appreciate that type of service and it means I won't hesitate to buy another from them down the road if they get their network expanded.

You said the problem is the signal issue? Even with the bumper? And even if you're not 'holding it wrong'? Sounds like you have a defective iPhone and not because of signal issue when you're 'holding it wrong'? :confused:Can you get it replace and try going to that place again and see what happens? If you're saying that you're getting the signal issue because you're 'holding it wrong' then I don't blame you for returning it.

Not trying to give you a hard time 'cause I do feel sorry for you and yes I'm mad  at Apple also for the way they are handling this issue but yours sounds like it's a different issue.

This situation of the poster you are replying to was mine as well. Lots of dropped calls and problems with data connectivity, even with bumper and light or no hold (on desk).

In addition, there is a list of about 4-5 other issues. If you're unlucky enough to have several of these, it just makes the great qualities of the phone not worth the grief of beta-testing it daily and trying another restore from new, hoping there will be a fix, etc.

Thanks for this. I am a huge :apple: Fanboi. Got 3 Macs, 4 iPhones, iPad, 2 AP Extreme, Express and even have :apple: stickers on both cars. This phone just has too many problems and I'm confident :apple: will find fixes, but I can't take the chance on getting stuck after my return window runs out if they don't. :apple: has always taken very good care of me with fixes and warranty repairs, even fixing one of my computers out of warranty, but this phone is just not there.

The minute these issues get fixed or a new version comes out, I'm in line. Pretending there's no real issues just because you live next door to a cell tower and you don't mind putting a cover on your phone is great, but don't put folks down who have real issues.

Yeah, I understand. Am also a long-time Apple and Mac user, and iPhone from the original and 3gs. I will jump back in as soon as I feel more confident the bugs are fixed. I love the iPhone - so far nothing else will do.

OP, you said that your 3GS was jailbroken. Did you pass your 3GS back up to the iphone 4? If you did , maybe you have a corrupt back up and maybe thats why is giving you problems. Try restoring as new, without the back up.
