I bought a phone on first day of launch and it's been perfect.

Don't assume that because you have bad luck or exaggerate a problem, that it means that others do.

Anyway, enjoy your phone though I get a strange feeling you'll find something else "wrong" with it soon enough.

The chances of getting a non-faulty product, no matter what it is, are never 100%

i know....i even posted in this thread about how manufacturing never gives perfect products (post 12 in this thread)

point is is that if you were to get an iphone, the chances that it doesnt need returned are like 100%

do you get what im trying to say?

Took the words right out of my mouth

however
If you have nothing better to do, and have OCD then follow the OP advice's

Spaz can I ask what you do for a living ?

I work in the printing business. I set up flexo jobs to be run on flexo printing presses. It's my responsibility to pay extreme attention to detail. It's just the way I am.

As a note: I'm really happy for all of you that have defective iPhones that don't really care about the imperfections enough to return them. It's okay if you don't return them... everyone feels differently.

I'm very happy that I got the iPhone I deserved now. Also, I don't give a crap if *I* scratch it, or if *I* get it dirty because I don't like having a case on it and that's fine with me. I just don't like getting a brand new device that looks and feels cheap/used.

The iPhone costs $699 retail... do you really think it should have light leaks, wavy lines on the screen, loose buttons, misaligned edges, raised glass in one corner, when there are some iPhones without these issues?

One more thing: I've noticed people seem to be on my case about "Is your house perfect, your car perfect, your classes perfect?"

1. I'm not OCD about everything... I just love my technology.
2. I'm not a student.
3. My room is kind messy (cluttered).

Glad to see you got an iPhone that worked for you. :)

I live in Maine and It's been awesome having that Maine Mall store as whenever I have had ipod problems I would have to send it in and wait two weeks :(.

Head to that Maine Mall store a few times and maybe you will see me there :p. Cept for the fact that I have no idea who you are and all... :D

Ah, yes, the "emergency room" approach to iPhone buying. Thanks for forcing the rest of us to bear the cost of your "perfectionism"...

Actually, this iPhone costs $699 unsubsidised and I don't even get 3G in my area yet so I'm paying a higher price per month on top of that.

Here's an idea for Apple: Design your iPhone to be easier to build! The rubber seal around the screen looks really hard to get perfect and since the glass is no longer glued on, it seems to be difficult to get it to be flush with the bezel. I'm just talking about what I noticed, I'm not certain exactly how they're built, but since it took me six tries, it seems like a pretty complicated product.

i get the feeling that apple may know how to build a technology product a bit better than you do

that aside, im happy you found a good phone, and also that I have been lucky enough to avoid any of these problems (of course, I realized that the one side of the sleep/wake switch being down further, which was my only problem, actually changes over time, its shifted back to normal already)

Yeah, the chances of getting a perfectly good iPhone (especially now after all the early hardware problems are sorted) are high.

Someone answer my question, what's the point in degrading someone about their posts? There is about six people in this discussion that have just blasted TheSpaz the entire time. Why is that necessary? Why do you have to push someone down over and over again? Does it make you feel better about yourself? He has purchased SEVERAL products from Apple, and we're not just talking $40 mice either. If I was a person that has invested over $4,000 in a company's products, I would feel like I deserve the best they supply.

So if you just want to rip up the OP, then don't post. Simple as that.

i'm sorry but this is a little absurd.

all this wasted time over a phone?? i'm sorry, a few minor misalignments? wow

Thank you for your lovely post. You just wasted your own time. It's not that crazy, a lot have people have had to return their iPhones for various reasons and sometimes even multiple times before they get one that had the quality of a new iPhone.

Wow... got late into this topic but the meaning of " **** happens " got with the op story into a hole new view ....

I guess i was lucky and my iphone was fine since day one i got it .... after waiting to arrive here in Spain over 2 months since it was launched ... actually today cleaning it i found some tiny small bubbles on the top left part of the screen ... i can live with it and unless you search for them you won´t notice them ...

Great you finally got "the " iphone you wanted

Saludos

I strongly disagree with this. The OP is costing us money, effectively forcing us to subsidize his (imo) distorted preferences. Such behavior should be discouraged through taunts and boos until our throats are sore.

I'm not costing you money.

1. I have a warranty for a REASON
2. The subsidized price has nothing to do with me
3. They refurbish the "defective" iPhones or just sell them to a less picky customer
4. I don't care about you.

It is quite obvious you only care about yourself and nobody else. What a self absorbed individual you seem to be. You have a phone now, you are happy so why blather on and on?

I do care about others... that's why I told my story. How many people "like me" can there possibly be that is making the "iPhone" so expensive? Wasn't the original iPhone $700? Then it dropped to $500 and now it's $700 again for the 3G (unsubsidized). So therefore... the iPhone is JUST expensive and therefore I have the right to be picky about the build quality.

You wouldn't buy a brand new car with a dent in it would you? Or would you see the dent and say "Well, it doesn't affect the car's performance, so I guess it's okay". I'm done talking. Close this thread, I don't care. I have a perfect iPhone 3G and I feel really really sorry for everyone who just "puts up" with their defective iPhones because they don't feel like returning them. YOU people are the ones that make Apple think it's okay to build iPhones like this because you'll buy it anyway because it came from Apple.
