To the comments about the ATV4 sticking around at a lower price:

It makes a lot of sense, especially for non-4K TV use. I wonder though how they’ll market it since they just refer to them as ‘Apple TV’ and they’ll likely look the same physically.

I guess they'll have to be some differentiation.... e.g . Apple TV 4, Apple TV 4K (or Apple TV 5)

I just don't want to pay a crazy fee to upgrade my media to 4K

not to mention the time it would take... Its done once,,,

Aside from quality, and keeping up with the Joneses, i don't know why people would wanna kepp updgrading their content...

"New Apple TV's out... Time to update all that content again" Perhaps the odd few movies ya, but not your entire collection on iTunes purchases.

Any news on refresh rate and resolution auto switching? I'm absolutely not interested unless it can manage this. I now watch all my media on an nvidia shield and my Apple TV gets used only for Apple Music

at 300+ you are looking at a PS4 pro...

Think it will be same as current model with the current model going down to $100. Version 3 gets discontinued as I don't see Apple selling it for $50 or less.

As for what do I use Apple TV 4 for? Well my 4k TV has basically all the Apps + better versions of them like the Fox Sports on my Android tv is much better. Lets me watch actual games as is ESPN but the Android TV interface crashes ALL THE TIME !!!

In all honestly Apple TV is a huge waste of money if you don't own a ton of iTunes movies and I have over 200. Only feature I truly love about it is sharing movies with family members. I think it is up to 7. I do this with friends and have a huge movie collection now. Also the 1 sign in is pretty cool for all the TV apps. My android tv makes me put in the activation code every few days and it is super annoying but for $150 bucks........ not sure if it is worth it unless like me you have a ton of iTunes movies.

The airplay thing you can do with chrome cast. One most new TVs

I guess the biggest issue for people wanting 4K is availability on movies. Say you want to buy a film but it's not available on 4K, I'm sure many will forgo the purchase and just wait. If the studios were wise they'd have a large majority of their titles ready in 4K when Apple release the ATV5.

Wow - they've made it almost irrelevant to those that don't have a 4K screen. I know it's got a much beefier chip, but no gaming bundles, no increased storage for serious game downloads - again, developers aren't going to bother with such a low install base who have a decent controller. I'm normally a day one purchaser of AppleTVs but I won't be bothering with this one until I get a 4K screen next year (at which point it will be much cheaper).

Free upgrade to 4K? Ok Apple.. I see you.. so which card would you like me to use?

What I'm really wondering is up until when are they going to stop converting our current movies to 4K.
Reason i'm asking is I usually only buy the digital codes

looks like US movies are starting to show up with 4K, HRD and Dolby Vision
