iPhone in Denial

Well, the Safari icon in iOS 7 is no longer the Western Hemisphere either.
Looks like Apple wants to have as much global neutrality as possible.

Also, Egypt isn't a safe place for you or your iPhone to be these days...

the old icon was more nice for what it does. We see a spark of earth from out of space. This new one is just green

This is a proof people will complain about everything. The new icon is mile better than the old one, and this coming from me who hate most of iOS 7 icons.

And you are also an example of people complaining. Since you are complaining that others disagree to your own personal opinion.
I hated the new icons if iOS 7 and I dislike this new icon as well. But this is my personal opinion.

something subjective like the look of something can't be better or worse for everyone--it's simply personal opinion which plays little to no role of what someone else might think about it (since it's subjective).

Regression for sure.

What is the point of high pixel density if you are going to turn everything into flat filled shapes and remove detail?

I mean if it wasn't for the rounded corners on the icons there would be no point for Retina because there would be no need for anti-aliasing.

Text and photos are the reason for Retina. Reader fatigue is reduced, and photos are sharper.

Has anyone tested the app for changes other than the look? Does it update constantly like maps, or does it just update when you refresh each device?

Am I the Only One Who Loved Sceumorphism ?

I think it is called "skeuomorphism", and No you're not the only one.

I can see why you would would radically change the look of it every once in a while, like you're re-arranging furniture at home. Things that look too simple will get old too... give it a few years and it will come back.

Yeah and the fact that people complain tells me that they don't all like the same things you do... big surprise!

I'm sorry but I HATE the flat design junk everyone's so happy about these days.

I cannot recall a single element that "flat" improves, besides a text page.

To me, it's like switching from live-action movies to cartoons. I like cartoons (old geek), but not all the time. The skeumorphism is there, just in anime form. It's a step backwards, in my opinion. Pixar, stop making 3D animated films. Make flat, 2D ones from now on. No more realistic Call of Duty or God of War, sorry. The photos of your family will be replaced with the caricature version that can be had from theme park booths.

From my point of view, the moment that "skeumorphism" became a bad word in the tech world is the moment the tech world lost it's mind. Guess what folks, many of us live in the real world. We interact with real things. So buttons, switches, and "3-d", realistic icons make sense, even in the virtual space. I believe it's what makes iOS so damn intuitive: the item behaves like stuff in the physical world, no translation required. A Mustang GT from the 60's (Eleanor) is just as beautiful in person than behind a pane of glass. To me, all this flat junk is like taking my beautiful desktop background and replacing it with with a Saturday-morning-tv-comic-book version.

So hey, maybe leather-bound stitching was not to everyone's liking. There's a proper application of skeumorphism and there may not be.There's good design and bad design (green felt).

But to take iOS and turn everything in it into a cartoon seems insane to me.

/end rant
