JHC,

Do you make the Cupertino Apple flavored Kool-Aid? People have been losing things since the beginning of time. It's not out of the realm of possibility that there should be "An app for that". Nor is it wrong that passionate Apple customers are not happy with it and voice their opinions.

An app for clumsy people to not lose their stuff? How about you take care of your stuff? If you can't, maybe you shouldn't buy them.

Sounds like an app made by people who don't use Airpods for people who don't have a clue about AirPods. The only time I've dropped one is while taking them out or taking off/putting on a shirt. Of course I pick it up and replace it in my ear or put it in the case, I don't lose it like an imbecile. I'm glad Apple banned this app, absolute morons should stick to Android products.

Reasons for removing it:
1. They want the money for a replacement.
2. They want to claim the idea as their own and put it in iOS like they did with flux.
3. They're embarrassed at their easily-lost headphones.
2. Except that Appel doesn't usually pull apps that compete with new or future functionality that they want to incorporate into iOS. They simply incorporate the functionality and the app usually dies unless it adds some new addition feature.

They did give a reason. But it's pretty pathetic:

"Apple did not like the ‘concept’ of people finding their Airpods and deemed it ‘not appropriate for the App Store’."

That's obviously BS and will get Apple some bad press. What gets me much more, though, is the fact that the app was out for four days before Apple realised they didn't like it. Why wasn't this determined during the original approval process?

Maybe. But that is not the reason apple gave.

In fact if that were the reason, it could be easily fixed and re-released. But that isn't happening either.

And yet, it was initially approved.

No thanks. I prefer to just keep track of my stuff. It's not that hard, really.

And Apple has pulled the app anyway, so the whole thread is moot.

Maybe they think that adults will just take care of their purchases and keep track of their stuff. Not hard to do, it's just the responsible thing to do.

Update: Finder for AirPods has been removed from the App Store by Apple. According to the creator of the app, Apple reportedly did not like the idea of people locating their AirPods and thus the app was deemed "not appropriate for the App Store.

Apple got an idea.

What a douche.

Why wasn't this determined during the original approval process?

It passed the approval process because it was deemed that there wasn't anything wrong with the app.

However a few days later it attracted the attention of tech news sites and only then did apple pull it - basically because someone higher up overruled the approval because they didn't like the app.

This happened despite the fact that there is another app called LightBlue Explorer which does the same thing - and has been on the app store since 2013 and is still there.

people like you are exactly who will end up sinking this company. you must be a real winner at parties.

Not at all. Compared to the drab conformist signatures, I suspect the opposite of your suggestion.
The colors come from Apple's silhouette commercials.
The fonts some from choosing a style different to that featured in Windows 98.
And then you went and jammed all those styles and ideas together without any regard for function. If you think that Jobs favored non-conformity for non-conformity's sake, then you are completely detached from Apple's design language.

These explanations Apple gives out make me angry. "We don't like the concept isn't a response." It's really mean and inconsiderate of the time someone took to make the app and not to mention the PR from this can't be good. Had they given an actual explanation rather than "we don't like the concept" there would be less backlash. Sometimes just a bit of communication is all that is needed.

Some user's obsession with my choice to hit the drop down button on the font selection is a little confusing.
I typically keep
1 style and use different colours. This does in part deal with addressing uninspired conformist behavior, it also in part deals with making a much better choice of how the text is displayed, and how it is emphasised, but as I also mentioned, which you don't note, the colors come from Apple's silhouette commercials and the type is changed to differ from the default style that was featured way back in Windows 98, Tahoma, Veranda. Sorry, this was an Apple forum wasn't it?
Welcome 2017 with a less aggressive approach and have a nice day/evening, friend.

Of course now in the age of no personal accountability it always someone else's fault. How bout you take care of your stuff. If you can't do that. DONT BUY THESE HEADPHONES.
I agree that people should be personally accountable but when it has the potential to affect others outside themselves then its everyones responsibility to help everyone at least as much as it doesn't have a negative impact on others. I think that part gets lost on personal responsibility advocates and many of these same people advocate for positions where they aren't taking personal responsibility for their life choices. So they are hypocrites on the issue of personal responsibility. One only need to look for tax cuts for people with kids...or businesses who don't want to pay for their own roads and highways to their businesses etc...

As far as these headphones go I think people just need to take care of their stuff.

So Find My iPhone is only to be used if someone's iPhone is stolen? You're saying no one ever used it to find a misplaced iPhone? Really?
No one should have to if they had a sense of responsibility. How hard can it be to keep track of your stuff? Especially when it is in the 800€ range. Same thing with the AirPods. Either the earbuds are in my ears or they are in the case and the case is in my left pocket, same pocket as my keys are in. Wallet in my right pocket. Phone in my left back pocket. Same pockets every day, always.

How do you manage without a Find my Keys-app? Find my Wallet? Find my Socks?

A phone is an $800+ item. Credit cards and ids can be easily disabled when lost. Find my iPhone provides the ability to disable missing iOS and Mac devices.

800€ is $800+

I am not questioning the need for a Find my Phone app, I'm questioning how many people use it because they misplaced their phone somewhere in their home and if that use could be replaced by trying to be a bit more careful with ones 800€ possessions.

It amazes me how we rely on technology to find products we purchase and misplaced, when using technology to find another piece of technology. To me, it really comes down to how complacent somebody is. I have never misplaced my cell phone, my wallet or let alone my AirPods that I need to rely on piece technology to find them. But that's me.
You must be young. Wait until you're middle-aged and you look all over the house for the sunglasses that are pushed up on top of your head. ;)

The irony here is that you are using the image of Beaker as your icon. I'm not sure if Beaker is incompetent or just unlucky, but either way he is a scientist. And clearly you aren't, nor do you follow much science, at least on this issue. There have been many studies that have revealed that it is the human condition to misplace things, and some are afflicted with this problem more than others, which tends to effect everyone as we age. So you're being extremely condescending and ignorant when you make statements like this. The reality is for some, keeping track of their stuff can be incredibly difficult, not because of any personal failing, but because of their genetic makeup, and as we age, virtually everyone will need a little help keeping track of their stuff, through no fault of their own.

Now that's funny with the sunglasses! I'm young and have a razor sharp memory.
