The "hype" is largely confined to tech sites on the Internet so far.
The Steve: Shut it down, someone will notice, someone else will write about it, someone else will link to cached version, everyone else will see it and get excited about all the multi touch possibilities.
Clean out your office. You have one hour to leave campus. Next.

The problem is that you come to a point where it's not a surprise anymore.No. It's gonna dominate the charts just like the iPhone did. Apple products are based on sheer primacy in terms of design, build quality, superior OS and integration, not simply marketing.
The problem is that you come to a point where it's not a surprise anymore.
Not to mention what value the product is going to bring.
I have my doubts they can do that for a tablet. As unique as they can make it there are too many products to fight off. Apple even has to deal with their own products.5 - Apple is master in creating demand, reinventing markets and demonstrating the added value of its products; if SJ is in his true form, forget all you've heard about slates and tablets until now, just as we all forgot how media players and smartphones were BEFORE the iPod and the iPhone.

Convertibles and slates barely make a ding in sales. The same with all-in-ones. The basic notebook or tower is still the standard unless you're Apple. There is not a single tablet that succeeded in the market; besides, the only real examples you have today are from swiveling laptops on one side, and e-book readers on the other.
Super iPod Touch syndrome with product of the App Store is what scares me.In my opinion, and considering its innovative record, Apple is set to recreate this whole segment and put everything else that has been launched so far in the trash. In other words, it's gonna be a bigger iPhone with added perks...and these perks will make the difference to the consumer.

I'm not sure how I felt when I realized that Apple can't make a product to sell to Mac users.Again, it may be boring for you (or "us" geeks) the public doesn't scour the internet looking for information on upcoming apple products. WE are not apples target audience.
I'm not sure how I felt when I realized that Apple can't make a product to sell to Mac users.
You come to a point where you want to give Apple your money but you still never buy anything from them. Blue waters and disposable incomes is where Apple is sailing. What's wrong with feeling left out? What are you talking about? There are millions of regular mac users that apple sells plenty to. You realize we are a small minority of nerds who are on an apple technology forum for christs sake. WE are not TYPICAL mac users.

That's the problem. The only thing you end up buying is a replacement computer not because the old one stopped working but because it's that time again. It becomes too mundane.I will be buying one to replace my old iBook G3, don't worry![]()

Apple hasn't made a replacement for my Late 2007 MacBook. I know this is going to spin into some pointless spiel on hardware longevity but I get the same from my other computers. It's just becoming even rarer to look forward to anything.
I have an iMac G4 and a Power Mac G3 laying around too. I'm going to replace the iMac G4 with a hackintosh though. I'll be able to put my Snow Leopard disc to use for once.Do you really want to compare your replacement needs having a 2007 MB, instead of a 2001 iBook G3 like me? Mine still works because it's an Apple...this doesn't mean it's not old for today's needs. And I am pretty sure that 7/8 years are more than a reasonable period for a replacement.
I'll stay skeptical about the miracle tablet.I am buying the tablet because it should be closer to my portable needs...and if the tablet is not it, I will gladly get a new MB.

I was prepared for a letdown and CES from Microsoft and they delivered. Though they did reinforce why Windows Media Center is so awesome. They needed to focus more on their product strengths rather than a menagerie of products from their hardware partners.Which is probably a good idea until it is released.
I have a feeling are setting themselves up for disappointment. Not that the device won't be awesome, but people are building it up to cure cancer or something.
It happens every press event.
Fan: "Man this is going to be the best revolutionary thing ever"
Apple: "That's it thanks for coming"
Fan: "OMFG, Apple sux. This is the worst product launch ever, what a waste!!!"
