I think I have messed too much with about:config, because I cannot detect any change as a result of installing this addon.

a screenshot with oldbar?

anyway, I don't think current oldbar removes bookmarks from dropdown list with Fx3B5.

Ok, I just don't know what's going on here. So here's a screen shot -- these websites are bookmarks, rather than history.

thats what I expected, url bar drop down now includes both History and Bookmark items, sorted by visiting frequencies.

urlbar input area now serve as a spotlight like function that search within both histories and bookmarks, looking for match of url, title, bookmark tags. It might be just a thing you can give it a try. at the same time, see if oldbar will be updated in any fashion.

sure its possible, but I really don't know enough to tell. we might have to wait a bit for the final..

I have installed oldbar 1.2 -- is it possible that it doesn't work with Beta5?

oldbar works for me, but it doesn't do what you want it to do. It only reduces the info shown, it doesn't change how that info is gathered.

There are a lot of requests all over the Mozilla forums for a way to force the new "awesomebar" (that's what it's actually called) to act like the FF2 bar, but they're getting nowhere. Some intrepid programmers have disabled it in their own private builds. If there's no other way to do it by the time FF3 is released, I'll do the same. The new bar is just too annoying.

I have found this:

- Type about:config on the address bar

- Type browser.tabs.closeButtons in the filter bar

- Then double click on browser.tabs.closeButtons and change Value to your preference:
0 - display a close button on the active tab only,
1 - display close buttons on all tabs
2 - don't display any close buttons

3 - display a single close button at the end of the tab strip (Firefox 1.x method)

This tip used to give me a one and only close button, in ff2. Not anymore.

I checked the setting, it has the value 3, but I cannot see any close button for all tabs.

Maybe there is a conflict with tab mix plus.

Anyone to tell me how to display only one close button to the right side of firefox(beside all the tabs, not on every tab)?

it must be a side effect of tmp, it works fine on my fx 3. there is no options in tmp for this?

I have not the close button icon right to the 'black' one(I had this one).

did you check that "close tab button" in TMP's preference->display->tabbar ?

do you mean the bookmarks on "bookmark toolbar"? just just random bookmarks in the bookmark manager?

Im at work so I cant look but...just any bookmark. I have about 10 bookmark folders and when I go to 'organize bookmarks', then sort...alphabetically....they do not sort. none of them. I have tried everything hehe....they just stay in the order that I have made them...

I asked this question at mozillazine forum.

I did found quite a few bug report at bugzilla.mozilla.org about bookmark sorting, Im quite confused as of now, about if this is intended or something else. I will let you know if I get anything meaningful back on this topic.

However, I do want to make it clear that you can sort bookmarks @ bookmark toolbar by name, just click that "sort by name" on the context menu of the bookmark toolbar.

Also, when in BM (bookmark manager), when I click "name" column head, the bookmarks below do sort themselves by names, it just won't stick after I close BM..

exactly!! it works but it does not stick..

and yes the toolbar does work

it might be by design, since now it allows you to sort bookmarks by all kinds of information in BM. maybe not a necessity to change the database every time users perform a sorting command.

However, I will wait for an answer from either mozillazine, or bugzilla.mozilla.org

Still, I know there are some extensions can do bookmark sorting, you might want to wait for them to be updated and give them a try. :)

UPDATE:

after reading through https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405108

It seems like a behavior by design. At least won't change in firefox 3, so, waiting for extensions is the way if you need this.... :)

hmm I just realized something. for my different folders i can just drag and drop them in order.......it only alphabetizes the sites themselves inside the folders....

I lost track of this topic...I never was able to get the extensions disabled - I think I've messed with the prefs too much, and I've forgotten what I changed.

Is there a way to kinda "reset" Mozilla's prefs file? (I may do this whenever the full FF3 (final) comes out anyway....

I installed the new version.
Session manager does not work anymore.
I cannot understand, we are just one month from the final version of version 3 and the vast majority of addons are not compatible.

Is there any beta version of session manager addon, to work with the 3.0rc1?
I really need it. Otherwise I will go to downgrade to the previous version.

The Firefox development team made some major changes to the way add-ons work. Most of these changes require only a few minor tweaks for add-on developers to make them FF3 compatible - but many of the developers have either failed to notice that the changes in FF3 require only minimal changes to most add-ons for haven't had time to fix them.
