I cannot use either Safari or Firefox. After fine tuning Opera to do exactly what i want it to, its hard using any other browser.

I have Firefox on both my iMac and my Blackbook, to open certain pages that don't like Safari. FF works for that, but is like surfing through molasses, noticeably slower than Safari for most pages.

What I like about Safari, compared to Firefox, is the integration with operating system.

Try to copy a webpage, text and pictures, drag n drop it to another program for example the text editor.
Everything will be copied when using Safari, including links and stuff.
If you're using Firefox only the text will be copied.

I also couldn't live without keychain, which is used by Safari.

Live dictionary is also useful.

I guess most of this has to do with Safari being a Cocoa app, and Firefox a Carbon app.

i don't think keychain stuff is related to cocoa,
firefox 3.0a nightly now is cocoa, but it still can remember multiple username/password on one page, not using keychain, safari is using key chain, but seems can only remember 1 username/password

Check these out: http://pimpmysafari.com/plugins/?c=Adblocking

Pimp my safari is a great plug in site...

just like pimpmycamino.com, pity they only have less then 80 plugins, consider firefox has 2000+ extensions.

I tried to use Firefox for the whole day yesterday to give it a chance, and I can safely say I hate it. It seems like a crappier IE. Apple is nice enough to give us Safari, why don't we use it? Well, I do, but some apparently don't.

thats the attitude i dont like, there shouldn't be any "we own apple" or "why bother 3rd party software" crap.
Apple nice enough to give u safari? Konqueror team was nice enough to allow apple use their core for safari, are u gonna try konqueror?

u use what u like, but don't make statement like that, plz

I'm a new Mac user and I just feel more comfortable in Firefox. I have tried Safari and I do like it but there are little things that bug me. Like I can't seem to find a way to make links open in a new tab instead of a new window automatically. I know I can do it with command-click or by clicking the middle mouse button.

I used to use Firefox as my main browser, but not anymore. In my MBP, firefox is very slow and I need to use force quit at least once everyday. Now I use Safari, except for arabic sites. Safari sucks when dealing with arabic.
Off topic: What exactly does Safari do with Arabic sites?

Um, right click?

Back when I still used Safari I preferred AcidSearch:

There should even be a MacRumors Forums search engine available... :)

I use Acidsearch.. never had any problems with it

Yes I know this but with Firefox if a link is set to open in a new window it automatically reroutes it to a new tab instead. Even when left-clicking on the link.

SafariStand and SAFT both add the ability to Safari. Not that I use them... I use Firefox. If you like it, why not? Although that Inquirer looks really nice....

Anything without adblock sucks.

That includes Camino.

If you are saying that Camino sucks because it doesn't have adblock, you are severely mistaken. Camino has a great ad blocker, and it's my favorite browser. Not very customizable, but it fits my needs to the T.

Last time I tried Camino, it's adblocking was somewhat more limited than that in FF -- FF AdBlock can not only block pictures, flash, and iframes, but also scripts and so on, with wildcards. Especially the "list all blockable elements" really helps to quickly train it to get rid of almost everything. Is that in Camino now?

I've yet to find a single, capable, reasonably speedy Mac browser. Hopefully Safari 3.0 will be much improved. There are still many sites I can't view in 2.0, and both Camino and Firefox are very unstable for me. OmniWeb is decent but I prefer Safari's aesthetics, I just wish it was more capable.

It can block ads, pop-ups; you can disable java and maybe flash. I can't remember, I'm not on my computer right now. You can do more, though, if you look at this page:

I WANT this to happen in Firefox and I would like for it to happen in Safari also, without having to pay for an add-on.

SafariStand adds the feature to Safari for free, but every time I suggest it, I seem to run into people's Anger Management issues...™ And again, it's already built into Firefox and has been for several versions....

Despite what anybody may perceive on any particular site or set of sites, overall Safari is faster than Firefox. Don't make me dig up those benchmark stats again... <shakes index finger>

Yeah, from the days when people first started saying "Firefox is SOOO much faster than Safari." :D

The last time I saw your statistics, they were comparing Firefox 1.5 and they were mid-2006. That's a long time but it was a good way to uphold your opinion. :p

Firefox and the Web Developer plug-in are a great tool for live editing (or at least live try out) CSS on the homepages you work on, but that's the only use I found for it.

Safari feels much more natural, it's pretty fast on my system, and for someone who uses the keyboard as much as I do, the :apple: + #Number shortkey to access your first nine bookmarks directly is pretty sweet.
