Meh. I'd rather they fix this bloated piece of crap they call 2.0 than just keep piling on features that don't actually work as advertised.

Hmm... guess I got my wish -- bugfixes and improved sync.
I installed 2.1 on my iPod Touch last night and it's been OK so far. Graphics don't lag anymore, transitions are smooth, but it's too early to tell if it's been permanently improved or if it's just the good old reboot effect.
The one thing that stands out is the battery life, the indicator still shows a full charge after 10 hours. Normally it's gone down to 75-80% during the night (it checks two mail accounts every 15 minutes).
Actually I think this is a sign that they're shaping up. What's been wrong with Apple over the last 12 or so months is that software quality has been abysmal. Both the iPhone OS and Leopard have been buggy as hell. This is a really bad time for that, when so many switchers are giving Mac a chance.
So rather than cram a lot of new features into the iPhone firmware, they've spent all their energy on fixing bugs. And they're doing the same with OS X -- 10.6 will be all about speed and reliability, not about new features. This is something Apple *must* do if they want to live up to the "it just works" mantra.
It will finally have the "make me a sandwich" App!

It'd be great if they fixed the Firewire charging issue with 2.1 - that'd be a nice 'secret' feature!!
There is no Firewire hardware in the iPhone 3G. Get over it. It's not possible to power the iPhone 3G with Firewire anymore.
