It's already September 23 in Australia and New Zealand, aka AirPods Pro and Apple Watch Ultra launch day. Customers in these two countries who preordered the AirPods Pro 2 or an Apple Watch Ultra are beginning to receive their new devices.

We will soon start seeing the first hands-on pictures of the AirPods Pro 2 and Apple Watch Ultra from Australians and New Zealanders who are getting their deliveries, with photos appearing on social media sites along with first impressions.

With no Apple retail stores in New Zealand, Australian customers will be the first who are able to pick up the AirPods Pro 2 or Apple Watch Ultra at an Apple Store, and Apple is expected to have some stock for walk-in purchases. Availability in Australia typically gives us an idea of what we can expect from other stores worldwide.

In the United States, the Apple Watch Ultra is sold out until mid-October, and other countries are seeing similar delays. The AirPods Pro 2 are more readily available and should not be too hard to obtain from a store on launch day. Orders placed now on the website will deliver by next week.

Following New Zealand and Australia, sales and deliveries of the Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods Pro 2 will kick off in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and finally, North America. Apple retail stores will be opening at their regular time right around 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. for device sales.

Should have both of mine by afternoon tomorrow. So excited. Apple Watch is by far my favorite Apple product, AirPod line a close second.

Third button has me so stoked. Let alone literally everything else about it.

This release is special. Monumental I’d say, for those of us who are athletically and adventurously inclined, and at once diehard Apple Watch fans.

Delivered in Sydney Australia.

First impressions:
  • The watch is not as big as I expected. The case is bigger and thicker but it doesn’t feel heavier on the wrist compared to the S7 stainless steel.
  • For reference, my wrist size is 155mm and I wear a Size 5 solo loop. The two alpine loops I have are both size small.
  • The flat screen looks and feels amazing to swipe on and it’s a clear differentiator from the standard series.

Does the apple store open at 10am tomorrow for the Apple Watch Ultra or 8am like the new iPhone?

Absolutely love that Green Alpine! That’s what I ordered…can’t wait for tomorrow!

Congrats ANZ! Would be great to see it side by side with a 45mm Series 7 or 8 watch. Also interested to see the Trail loop and hear if the S/M size is a better fit than the M/L for a 160mm wrist.

We don’t mention the Series without Temperature Sensors anymore :)

;)

Kidding!

We don’t talk about Bruno either.

If the temperature sensor had been used for more i’d be all over it. But I just don’t see a temp sensor on the wrist ever being the way to go. I half hoped the airpods pro would have it. Makes more sense.

Good to hear. It’s still smaller than my regular analogue watches… which is great.

I feel like the size and weight over the Series 5 is definitely noticeable but not problematic... will probably be used to it by this evening. I'm a 5 on the solo loop scale (which works great with the Ultra... was slightly concerned it wouldn't) but I don't feel like I've got a phone strapped to my wrist.

Definitely a worthy purchase as an upgrade over an older series; even the packaging is awesome. Looking forward to using it for the intended outdoor purposes.

As a side note, if you have dogs the siren is a good laugh... it's head tilts for days and then hysteria with two collies!

Looks like anyone who didn't preorder here in NZ is stuck waiting like everyone else.
I just went to a couple of stores to check one out, because i had to see the size before making a commitment: Couple of demo units behind glass, but none I could try on. Does look larger in the flesh though.
