Do you want to know how and when I realized that the Apple Watch is probably not for me?

I didn't even have to read any articles. I just now saw the headline on the article page, and...well, let's put it this way...

Headline: "Apple Watch With Link Bracelets Begin Shipping to Customers"
Banner ad above that:
"Grainger: For the Ones Who Get it Done"

And at that moment, I realized that I am more Grainger and less Apple Watch.

It's all so clear now. :)

And...I'm still waiting for a new 17" 8-core rMBP. Come on Apple, "get it done!"

I love Apple to death but this has to be their worse new product launch ever. I wonder if things would have still played out the way they have if Jobs were still alive?

Oh, please keep Jobs buried. Seriously. This is beyond tiresome. Jobs messed up so many times, even the initial Iphone launch was underwhelming in sales volume.

If overwhelming demand meets capacity you got waits. Considering this thing will sell 10 times more than other smart watches and has more variance, how on earth do you think they could measure this demand? The Link people will receive their watches within 3 weeks of availability. This is far from being a tragedy that requires a Jobs maudlin violins and a Jobs being summoned...

Yet, you felt compelled to tell us all of this.

I ordered a 42mm Milanese at 3:07edt 4/10 and a link bracelet separately at 3:22edt 4/10. My watch delivered on 4/29 and my link bracelet arrived 5/8.

There was a problem in manufacturing.
Better to ship a working watch late than a broken watch early.
This problem could be the cause of the delays.

Yeah, I see that as delivering something worse than an "under-promise". Because the "under promise" is the benchmark in this little play, it's worse than what we were told.

Except that it is not. Apple never promised the link band in the 4/24-5/8 window.

I come from the alternate reality where Steve jobs is still alive...

Steve didn't like the direction Angels Arendts was going with the watch - making the watches high priced for the elite, so he bitch slapped her after the March event. Angela sued, and in the settlement, now owns Apple. Now all the laptops are gold plated, and you can't buy anything Apple - laptops, iPads, iPhones, apple TV's - for less than $10,000.

Steve is now running the Google android division.

Hang in there, folks; it's definitely worth the wait.

I ordered a stainless-steel Milanese loop at 12:02am and was lucky to get it on April 24th. Having lived with it now for almost 3 weeks, I can tell you that it's a wonderful device and worth waiting for.

Hang in there!

Considering Tim Cook would (still) have been handling the logistics, I'm inclined to say yes.

My Apple Watch with Milanese Loop ordered on 5/1 still says "July"...

Unfortunately I'm still waiting on my Space Gray 42mm Sport model since pre-order day as well. It's really driving me nuts.

I understand that demand outstripped supply, and I appreciate the conundrum Apple has with predicting demand for a $350+ watch and manufacturing enough before release to satisfy a reasonable amount of that demand. It doesn't make me feel any better, though.

This product simply wasn't ready. They missed the timetable miserably. It should have been held back three to six more months.

Considering she came in on board AFTER the watch was developed and nearing launch, the whole thing about Ms Arendts makes no sense in this reality and all others too (as string theory commends ;-).

At the price the 1984 $10K Mac was (2015 money), it should have been gold plated for the elite that bought them. Unless someone thinks "joe working class" was the one buying those computers back then.

No news is ... no news

I ordered mine on the morning of April 10th - SS 42mm w/ black sport band. Got a estimated delivery window of May 13-27. It is now the evening of May 11th and still not a peep from Apple. First world problem, I know, but I really did expect to hear something by now.
