I wonder if it’s actually meant to be held in landscape. The way that’s shaped seems like it’s meant to be rotated to portrait when unfolded and used as an iPad Mini.

Apple better not **** this up.

If I'm buying a fold, it's because it's essentially the ultra iPhone with no compromise. Having one less camera seems like a compromise.
Oppo and Vivo have come close but no one has yet overcome physics with the thin (under 5mm when opened) body when it comes to putting flagship camera sensors in foldables. Until that happens, ain't no way I'm dropping nearly double for a foldable that's clearly weaker with cameras than a slab flagship.

How would MagSafe work on one side of the phone if they even have it? Wouldn’t the weight of the side of the phone turn it? Maybe that small vertical line magnet will hold it in place well enough. Or just MagSafe when it’s closed. Personally i want MagSafe on this open more than anything

People were bagging on the first Surface Duo for having massive screen bezels but from a practicality perspective it makes holding it in an open position so much easier.
I actually wish Apple had iterated on the dual screen display instead of doing a fold. There is very little you unfold a phone for that requires one large screen. Having a dual-pane view, two iPhone apps side by side or a keyboard/gaming controls on the bottom in ‘portrait’ makes so much more sense.

There is a reason the Nintendo DS is thought of as the most innovative games console of its day.

I would love to have one of these, but I must have a decent telephoto camera. I also love FaceID; having to find and touch a side button is not attractive. It is looking more and more like I will be waiting until I can figure out a way to make these things happen. So, this year it will probably be a new iPhone Pro Max, and next year it will be the 20th anniversary phone.

I use the inner display on my book-style foldables approximately 70% of the time. Almost everything is better on the larger inner display, web browsing, viewing photos, Movies Anywhere, YouTube, Kindle, reading and responding to emails, etc. The Duo, for example, failed because it had to separate screens when unfolded, and no one has gone back to this design on a mass market smartphone since...to my knowledge anyway.

So hang on...
The case manufacturers have access to privileged information - how are they allowed to showcase such products before the iPhone is announced?

Surely they have to sign an NDA if they have legitimate access to dummy phones at this stage.

So if you're using it in the 'open' position — you've got your fingers all over the front display?.. Nice.
Hopefully the outer screen fully shuts off when the phone is opened.

Versus, say, displaying a big bright Apple logo that screams "Hey look everyone I'm carrying $2000!+".
