What is it with people needing a case on everything? Cases on phones, cases on watches, cases on AirTags, do they put cases on their cars and on their couches? oh wait...

Oppo and Vivo have come close but no one has yet overcome physics with the thin (under 5mm when opened) body when it comes to putting flagship camera sensors in foldables. Until that happens, ain't no way I'm dropping nearly double for a foldable that's clearly weaker with cameras than a slab flagship.
Phones are used for more things than just photos.

The gains in form factor, ergonomics, and productivity outweighs the missing camera parity for some people.

Enough people with foldable users being in the millions.

Even when it comes to photo-taking, having a better form factor to take group photos and edit them outweighs the parity with slab phones for some

Getting a good case for a foldable phone is tough. It’s one of the things that friends who have the Samsung Fold complain about. They break easily and cost way too much.

I always have some kind of case on my phone and always have. I have never had a case break on me. Friends with foldable phones can’t get more than six months out of a case without it breaking. And some of the cases have a frame that sticks on the small screen with sticky tape. 🤣

looks like they're really going for the passport design.

It's a matter of personal taste of course but i'm not a fan. same way i disliked the ipod nano 3 and waited for teh nano 4 instead.

Idk after seeing that mock up of the home screen I kinda want to sell my iPad mini and get one 😂

I like that it appears to be thumb driven.

Excuse me while I whip this out…

I love the form factor, but absolutely gutted Apple’s matched the industry’s move of degrading the camera system. Unfortunately, I’m a camera first user that loves photography and uses all 4 cameras on my phone extensively, so my red line has been crossed and I will stick to the Pro, even though I’d really have preferred the Ultra.

Sofa needs few good jumps on it to break, a phone - just a single drop. Given the price (and it is already too high) people put case on it.

Also many people sell their older phones, so if it has no scratches they can sell it for more $$$

Yeah, I’ve seen that Apple doesn’t care about photographers ever since they introduced the “computational photography”. Photos look like poorly generated AI images. No sensor noise, poor HDR, literally BLURRY photos, overprocessed plastic look.
Indeed, phones for geeks, not photographers

Yeah but do you really think NDA can really stop a small case maker in China, which is like one of those out of 10,000 companies and factories from there?
I doubt anyone but those who sell cases at  stores have early access, the rest of those 10k companies out of red china just steal it as usual and have zero interest protecting them.
