It should be a humiliation for Apple that they seem quite unable to have available products at the time they "release" them. I went into my local Apple store a week after these things were released to have a look at one. The assistant I spoke to explained they did not have them yet, because they "were only released last week". Hmm...

It's standard practise for Apple to not have display units for any product until the day they're first available to customers, so that should be tomorrow. For example, Apple never has the iPhones available to examine in the (short) period between them being announced at the iPhone event and the launch day (which coincides with the day they're first delivered). Can you imagine how much of a thief magnet they would be if they did?

It's a little bit semantic but I don't think Apple uses the term "released" in their official communications and the Apple shop was wrong if they did. They announced or "launched" them but only estimated the shipping date.

Looks great. Would be nice if they decrease the price eventually, as I plan to purchase one. But that won't be until July or August 2017 when I head off to college. :)

Which one were you looking for? All the Apple Stores I've passed by near me have the 13" non-touch MBP on display. That is the only one to-date that was release for sale. The others were announced but not on sale yet. The only product I know of that Apple displayed before it went on sale was the Apple Watch. The touch bar Macs should be on display later this week I'd imagine.

Guessing we'll see online stores start to discount a bit once the early adopter orders have been filled. That is typical of most Macs now.

I'm looking forward to mine being delivered.

I think I've purchased about $400 in dongles. (multiple for office, home, travel, etc.) So annoyed, but this computer better rock, and then I'll chock it up to early adopter tax.

But I fear the new Lead by MBAs Apple took shortcuts which will make me regret the purchase. (no optical out, only 2 of 4 of the usb c are full power, etc.)

Is that the 13" Touch Bar model?

Good thing with Apple is you always have a free trial period. But it sounds like you're pretty invested.

Put it this way. The last major change in serial bus interface was 18-19 years ago. It just sucks in those first couple of years. USB-A wasn't that popular until Apple put it on the original iMac. Then it became the standard. USB-C has even more weight behind it. But I'm going to be happy to wait for a revision or two.

Really? I thought that always looked rather classy. I mean, you paid all the money for a Macbook Pro and not one of these imitation PCs with a copy-cat aluminum enclosure. Why not display it?

Mhm, wish they didn't add the MacBook Pro label back to the bottom of the screen... I'll definitely skip this generation and hold out for the next major revamp.

Yeah it must be really humiliating to have the best selling computers on the market by far.

By what measure? In 2015, Apple was 5th behind Lenovo, HP, Dell, and Asus. Lenovo alone shipped almost 3x more units than Apple. It's the same story in 2016 according to the most recent Gartner numbers from last month, where Apple was still in 5th worldwide, and fourth in the USA (behind HP, Dell, and Lenovo). Even if total Apple shipments were to double due to the new Macbook Pro, they would still be 4rd worldwide.

Got mine!

UPS driver said "I know it was scheduled for 1:30pm but I figured you wanted it ASAP."

Duh! iTunes Gift Card for you, Sir!

Any cases available yet??

I get mine on Wednesday, but still deciding whether to keep it or return for the no-TB version.

Please post your battery life results—that's the main factor that will determine my decision. i.e. is the probably-only-marginally-useful TB + TouchID worth the likely lower battery life?

Is that a zero bezel? It looks like there is no bezel from the top image. The Apple website has a black background image and I cannot tell.

Has any one ever noticed that those who dislike things them most also complain the most, and at the same time act like those who like things a lot have something wrong with them?

Kind of reminds me of last Tuesday and the rest of the week.

Yes we all get it, you don't want to buy the new MBP version for what ever reason.

Much better than an emoji.

They can't afford them, if they had the money to buy one they wouldn't be so negative ;)

There was a day when they'd follow up each product announcement with "Available Today", and that was exciting, for sure. But I suspect that the logistics have changed. Technology is more advanced. Manufacturing and distribution is much more complicated given the complexity and sheer quantity needed. Remember that they are launching new and more "points of sale" every day around the world... and each location increases demand. It's an ever-growing problem, so the sacrifice is immediate availability, I believe.

Why dangles and not new leads? Serious genuine question. For equipment that I want to connect to it I've just ordered new leads, so much neater, it would be different if I need to connect them to different machines, but I don't. Other people will have different needs I know, but for most they will need to connect a printer, monitor, external drive, maybe a graphics tablet, and their phone. Sure it's not cheap buying the leads, but a better end result I say.

There was a time when Apple users were pioneers of new technologies... remember USB? We were happy about this, even if change meant dongles and painful architecture jumps.

Now, at least for the vocal minority on forums, resistance to change is the name of the game. They want their 1996 ports so badly, whereas it's clear that Apple's push will accelerate the adoption of the fantastic new standard like nothing else would do.

Blogs with an agenda, like The Verge, seem to agree. But as an Apple user since 1995 I'm very happy about the #courage Apple keeps showing in order to push the tech world forward. This is pure Apple, doing pure Apple things.
I could not agree more.

People are constantly whining about apple's lack of innovation because they don't offer the old ports of yesteryear, as well as none of the latest nvidia graphics cards etc... However Apple is the only one who dares to leave old standards and switch entirely to new, better solutions. If nobody was as dedicated to this as apple, then nobody would lead the crowd towards innovation.

Now that's what I call innovation but I know 90% of people in here would strongly disagree with me.
