Nice, but does it run on an iPad 2. It has the same processor so should have the horse power.

I suspect it will be a feature of iPad 3. Most new iPhone features get "passed" on to the next generation iPad (FaceTime for example, and the expected Retina Display update...)

Don't know about anyone else but of we can name them, "Kit" was the first thing that came to mind.

Oooh, that means evil Siri's should be named "Karr" :D:D

I can't watch that since I am at work but the sites I can find with benchmark info seem to show the SII being slower.

Apparently it has lot to do with software. You have two different platforms AND even the same phone can perform a lot differently with different browsers being used. Different ROMs with different browsers and settings affect the browser performance in Android greatly. In any case it's good to see the 4S perform as expected in the benchmark.

The fact that someone thought about "Hey let Siri activate when you hold the phone to your ear" is why I love iOS -- it's the polish.

I actually hate raising my iphone to my ear, probably use speakerphone over 95% of the time, and am pissed when I find myself in a situation that it's not appropriate and have to press it to my face. I try and have earbuds to cover the situations where I might press my slimy face against my phone.

The option I want to see is to have siri listen constantly for it's name, or another you choose. probably kills the battery, but when driving who cares. It would be like the star trek computer.

Yeah I also want Siri to just have a "listen" mode, I can't put it up to my ear while driving because then the cops here will think that I'm talking on my cell while driving and give me a ticket.

Computer for me. Watch some star trek, the technology is hilarious, they all had ipads, and enterprise which was a few hundred years before the others had fat clunky ones, and voyager had the sweet thin ones. Sci fi tech is awesome, so simple but so perfect. phasers-stun or kill. I hope a replitator becomes a reality someday. holodecks would be nice too. I wish my iphone could stun or kill lol.

Personally I don't care as much about how fast my phone is as I care about how will it does what I want done.

Note that a lot of this also has to do with software. It looks like iOS 5 improved the performance of this benchmark result significantly. Or maybe they are using a different version? I'd like to know
Just wow.
Can't wait for the 'official' benchmarks by Anand and others! :D

OT: My iPhone 4 (iOS 5 beta 7) got 51760 on Browsermark

I guess the most workable alternative would be to have Siri listen for 5 seconds every time one of the hard buttons is pressed, or perhaps even when the iPhone detects a large movement (like picking it up)

I'm NOT holding my iPad close to my ear :D

I'm sure the jailbreak community will find a way to install Siri on iPads/iPhone 4 devices. Specially since the 4S seems to have the same 512 MB RAM.

Siri could never just work by hearing it's name otherwise you could get like randoms on a train or bus activating your Siri as a prank.

I'm not sure about the holding to your ear part as you need to look at the screen most of the time when using Siri anyway but I guess it is just to activate it.

I would be interested in a comparison of Siri on the 4S and the Siri app that had been available in the past, to see how it has evolved since then and how much has to be contributed to either the original developer or Apple...

In the iPhone 4S video on Apple.com they had a guy driving, and he just talked to his phone, it was sat on the seat next to him.
