Yes, it would be great if it would listen for "Computer" or "Siri" and then a command. Maybe it would have to be an option to turn on or off to save power, but for when I am driving, I don't want to have to push the button all the time. Maybe an option if it is moving or plugged in, then it will be on, but if it is sitting on a desk you would need to hit the button.

Oh, and it needs to have different accents. If Garmin can have lots of different accents, Apple can do it better. I also think they should have a Steve voice as a tribute.

So long as it understands the phrase "make it so" when asking for confirmation, I'll be happy

My iPhone 4 with iOS 5 got a browsermark score of 50.953. That means that with iOS5 the "old" iPhone4 is 30% faster. It even is faster than a dual-core Galaxy S2 with only 43.000 points! The iPhone 4S is playing in his own league. So it's not all about Mhz and Cores!

My original Galaxy S with Android 2.3.7 gives 50.705 so it has to do a lot with browser implementation, not hardware

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

Wish they knew what the RAM officially is.

Doesn't really matter. Apple has enough for whatever they are doing. Not like Android that needs more ram to run laggy and slow.

Im guessing that this iPhone 4S is from one of those UK reporters that got their hands on one. Usually they're loaded with apps for people to test out, but doesn't look like this one has much.

Im still holding off on this one, doesnt seem like a drastic upgrade from the iPhone 4, and probably wont benefit me anymore. Siri seems interesting, but sounds like one of those features that people will eventually never use because it doesnt work as it should...will find out soon enough.

Why ear? Wouldn't mouth be more natural when you wanna speak?

Anyone?

Let's say you're walking down the street and you want to use Siri. Would you rather pull your phone out as if you are making an actual phone call to a person, or hold it in front of your face and talk to your phone like it is the person?

I'd prefer to look like a normal person. If this wasn't an option, I would only use it when no one was looking.

And considering that Siri responds with voice, and the fact that in the Apple Siri commercial video a blind girl was using it, I'd say you don't need to see the screen.

You're talking to a phone. Either way, there's no way you'd look normal.

Here's my test. iPhone 4 running iOS 5 GM. (I'm running Private Browsing on Safari)

I just ran browsermark on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII running CM7 and recorded a 94,225 and a SunSpider score of 1424. There are way to many variables to make a statement such as that. I've owned and used many different devices including every iteration of the iPhone along with a Motorola Atrix, HTC Inspire, and now the Galaxy SII.

I'm sure the the 4s will be a very good device with a polish level that is surpassed by few. But, that doesn't mean it fits everyone's needs.

SII = 94834. so seems faster than 4S in browsermark bench.

I just ran Browsermark on SGSII with stock browser and got 53088 score. It would appear (and is quite obvious) that the score will depend a great degree on software (in this case - the browser). Safari/iOS 5 does pretty well in this regard just not as well as Firefox 5. Just another limitation of iOS (i.e. no Firefox)

I will bet you $100 that the next iPhone will not be called the iPhone 6.

Correct.

Here's the expected nomenclature:

October 2012: iPhone 4G

October 2013: iPhone 4GS

October 2014: iPhone 8

OR

October 2012: iPhone 5

October 2013: iPhone 5S

October 2014: iPhone 6

October 2015: iPhone 6S

October 2016: iPhone 7

October 2017: iPhone 7S

etc.

Absolutely, especially the display size. But it's funny to see that line in a benchmark discussion. However it's true there is a market for people who have to have the fastest benchmark score possible ;) (Even then, those who want the best 3D benchmark for now will have to go with iPhone)
