Apple should launch in Australia a day later. Their homeland should not be the lastest in receiving their own products. It should be the first one.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again - Australia is (in your lingo) the topest mostest firstest world country on the planet. Thereforest, they getest it firstest.
Don’t believe the geography lessons you been learnst. They say ‘Merica, Russia, Asia and “You’re’up” are the “top of the world,” but it could be that “Down Unda’” is really “Up Ova!”?

Apparently there are 2 ways:
  1. Airplay from your Mac to HP. No Siri control.
  2. Pay Apple for Match or AM and then Siri should be able to play any Matched music on your Mac.

Yeah cause the thing is that my Mom's iPad, doesn't have my music on it, all of my music is on my macbook pro, does that make any difference, because Im on youtube now watching some of the walkthroughs and it shows itunes, etc being synced

I think it's easier to publish one delivery date that's good worldwide instead of a bunch of different ones.

If you have a HP already, you know better than me. I'm working from what's been written about it. Just try it and see if you can push audio to it. Select the airplay option on your Mac and see if it can "see" the HP as a place to direct the sound.

If you are worried that since you set it up like it's your Mom's HP because you used her iPad (and presumably her Apple ID), I'm not so sure music playback would be locked out- especially via the Airplay option. This would be a good thing to try and then let us all know if it worked or not.

If you haven't purchased a HP yet because you don't know what would happen in this scenario, visit an Apple store and ask them. Maybe take your Mac too so that if they don't quite know (yet), you could potentially attempt to Airplay from your Mac to a demo unit at the Apple store.

There are a good amount of comments about a HP being "married" to a single user account (the one used to set it up). So the "smarts" side of the HP thinks it is your Mom's HP instead of yours. How this would affect you is apparently costing you some of the "smarts" functionality, such as being able to add reminders with Siri, have HP read texts to you or send texts from you, etc. All of that kind of thing will be associated with your Mom's ID (reminders added to HER reminders, text messages to and from her via HP, etc).

However, I think Airplay won't care about an "owner." I believe it's open to anyone with an Apple device being able to Airplay something to this HP as long as the sender is on the same local network. So I think- but do not know for sure- that you should have no problem Airplaying your music from your Mac to this HP set up as if it belongs to your Mom. One simple test though and you'll know for sure if this works first hand.

Remorse about? What product anywhere does not disappoint on any level.

I think if someone wrongfully expects an Alexa etc yea dumbingly will be disappointed that HomePod isn’t constantly “listening” to sounds emanating from your bathroom and composing anal-ytics to compel you to buy.

Does anyone anymore NOT want a total invasive device that appears to do everything and fully monitors your very existence?

Guess what. I don’t.

So I bought my HomePod because I guess I’m one of the few that doesn’t want Google and or Amazon listening in on my families lives.

Seriously people. Think... different

Well I don't really care about invasiveness in my house, but I bought the HomePod and expect to love it. Why? Because it's built really well, sounds really awesome, and works with my Apple Music subscription. I expect that I, and the millions of others in the same boat, will love and definitely not return the HomePod.

that's good that Siri detects it. Apple has got that part down. Part 2, can it do anything other than say "I can't do that"?

Following Australia, HomePod sales and deliveries will kick off in the UK in about 10 hours, followed by North America. Apple Stores in all three countries are opening up right around 8:00 a.m. to allow customers to make HomePod purchases.

....

In the United States, the first HomePod deliveries will take place on the east coast starting at 8:00 a.m. The HomePod is priced at $349 in the United States, GBP319 in the UK, $499 in Australia.

For crying out loud .... The United States of America is NOT North America! There is at least 3 other countries in North America besides the USA.

3 launch countries for HomePod: Australia, UK, and USA as you’ve mentioned 2 paragraphs after the mistake.

And I’m happy to be in that class right there with you. I’m thrilled to not be seen talking to my Pod about what’s the latest sale at Walmart. -/

I never understood this way of thinkng. Them getting it first has zero effect on when we get it here in the US. As long as you get yours when you are supposed to, why would you care when others get theirs? It is the exact same product, it is not like the first 1000 users are getting some "unique version".

But everybody is getting it from China o_O

Thanks a lot for reminding me I should go to broadway to review this “revolutionary” HomePod. And yes, I AM in Australia.

The best response. :D

How many people will return their HomePods within the two week return period after having buyers remorse?

I have seen that questions when AirPods were first released.
Not sure why so many people dream of failures around here.
Luckily for us, that's not the case with Apple products.

So much salt in Canada this season.
Heh...it's an "Americanism" to just paint North America with the same brush as Australia.

Many Canadians are pissed about Australia getting Apple love before Canada (News is another example). We can thank our French speaking citizens for the delay (but, without them, we wouldn't have Hockey, maple syrup or poutine...to name a few) :)

It just means we have to wait the same amount of time as Europe.

So how long before HomePod "screen protectors" are available at Target for the anal retentive? I Kid. Also waiting for the first "My kitten thought my HomePod was a scratching post!" post.

This is incorrect. I’m standing in front of my local Apple store at 8:04 local time and it is locked with no one inside.

Homeland? LOL. It’s a CORPORATION, not a PERSON.

This does highlight the problem with people expecting (publicly-held, for-profit) corporations to act as if they’re people, with feelings, etc. They’re not. They’re soulless machines made of people for taking an investment and maximizing owners’ (i.e., shareholders’) profit, giving them the best possible ROI. Confusing them with people is a dangerous mistake. They’re legally OBLIGATED, in fact, to act this way, and members of their corporate leadership, (i.e., the CEO, CFO, CTO, etc.,) are COMPENSATED at least in part by how well they do this. It’s why they design things intentionally to FAIL after a certain amount of time, as a further inducement to get you to buy another one. How long they last is determined by three basic factors: how short they know they can get away with, what warranty they are obliged to offer, and how long you’d keep it and continue to use it if you could. To this end, they will do whatever they have to, never even remotely minding YOUR wants or needs.

Here’s the decision-making process for this. Suppose we’re considering something that would make you unhappy. Apple (and any other PHFPC) asks itself: will we make more money immediately making this customer unhappy? Will we make more money in the intermediate term? Will we make more money in the long term? How will it impact our (executives) pay and benefits if we make the user happy in the short term but unhappy longer term? Then they pick the way best for them, and screw you, the customer.

You’re funny, though. “Homeland.” Hahahhaha!

Apple Ping, Apple Music Connect, Mac Pro (trashcan design), G4 cube, Apple Lisa, Apple Newton, first 4 generations of the Apple TV. I could go on...

Edit: Forgot to mention the iPod Hi-Fi stereo, which is the grandparent to the HomePod and was a large failure as well.

These were more like experiments and nothing major. But yeah, keep dreaming of failures....because you know.....it's good to dream ;)
