Sorry guys, you will realize sooner or later the iphone 4 must be held extremely still to produce a smooth video, even then it will be shaky, almost useless. FaceTime especially, it's going to be jerky as hell because there is no Image stabilization (IS). They tried really hard to not show the shaking during Apples promo videos. This is a big draw back as we are used to seeing IS on most HD camcorder recordings. Everyone will know you have an iphone. But just like Mp3, convenience always wins over quality. One of the reasons I'm waiting on ordering one.

the "jitter" is probably "hand shake" more than video quality.

I wish like hell he'd stop panning for more than a second....

guess I'll need to see some better demos....

I don't know, the jittering seems unavoidable... it looks like there's no image stabilization at all... kind of disappointing.

I'm a newb with this sort of thing; is there Windows software that can effectively address the jitter and jello effects?

Ther quality looks pretty good. there is a bit of rolling shutter going on with the video but all in all it's pretty impressive.

The photo is overexposed (probably wasn't metered correctly with the tap to focus), however it is sharp. The grain seems under control to an extent (for a cell phone). Will be more than enough for most general photography in good conditions.

I honestly feel the camera and video are the two biggest features of the new device. I'll take much more pictures with it than ever with this level of quality.

... And compared to a RED Camera it's got work to do, right?

I just posted another video with the iPhone 4, this one is up close of a tree... shows off how clear the HD (720p) camera is:

All of the images and videos are here:

Enjoy.
AppleMojo, as much as I appreciate how many videos and images you're posting, could you please tell us how much RAM this iPhone has? You can do so by downloading the (free) "SysStats Lite" app in the app store and it will tell you. Please post a response in any one thread of your choosing where you see this message. Thanks.

I took another, here's one of a little rabbit in the front yard with the iPhone 4 HD camera:

In some thread I believe it was confirmed. 512MB.

EDIT: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/945855/ Here.

Also, could you please tell us how is the fingerprint/smudge question on this device?

Sorry, but the video quality is horrible. All of the lighter areas are bleached white. Photographers call this "blown highlights".

You cannot get decent video with a lens that is the size of a peppercorn.

Autofocus homie....He simply didn't autofocus on the lighter areas first...

Enjoy.

Not really dark enough yet... I'll snap more of them here in a few hours and post those...

This phone is so stinking quick... just snappy.

Smudging is bad in my opinion... I'm a pretty non-slimy fellow and the back / front have been cleaned a dozen times or more already...

Makes me sad...

Dont suppose any of the volume buttons at as a shutter button when in the camera app? =/

Damn. For being up for an hour and 8 minutes, that is ALOT of free RAM.

What's more impressive is that after an hour and 8 minutes the phone has only used 5% battery life.. my 3GS chews through 20% or more in that time, easily.
