Hey all,

Got my 6S Plus this morning and have to say, I am loving it. Not overly impressed with 4K video as I prefer the smoothness of 1080p at 60fps. 3D touch, I was a little sceptical about but I think it's delightful.

Only gripe, if you can call it that, is when I'm at work and my phones on the desk, I often press the home button quickly to light up the phone to see any notifications etc. Just to add my previous phone is a 6 Plus.

I notice that the fingerprint reader is VERY sensitive, like to the extent that almost 100% of the time if I press the home button very quickly, it's enough for it to read my fingerprint and unlock the phone.

Obviously this is a big thumbs up for the reader itself and the implementation of it but it does now mean that I have to retrain my mind to use the power button, which when it's laid flat on a table isn't very easy.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts. Also I'd like to add that the official leather case from Apple that I had on my 6 Plus fits the 6S Plus without any issues. Sure it's a little more snug getting it on but not to the extent that the fit is bad.

Paul.
the finger print reader is just faster than before, its not sensitive, its just fast. You might need to assign a security finger for unlocking and another for hitting the button when the screen is off

Is the 4K video being watch on a 4K display?
I have watched a number of 4K @ 30 fps from GoPro cameras and they look great on a Samsung UN60HU8550 4K TV

Looks like you'll just have to get the Apple Watch for quickly glancing to see if you have any notifications

really hoping the fingerprint sensor is much better at detecting a difficult print. couldn't use it for my 6 because it never was able to read my prints. always worked for an hour or two and then stopped. i have very dry skin and past issues that seem to have messed up my prints. wondering if the new phone will actaully work for those of us with these issues.

iPhone 6s plus 64 GB. Running iso 9.1 beta 2. Initial thoughts are:-
  • Noticeably faster than the 6 plus (my previous iphone). Blown me away actually how quick it handles everything. Have an iPad air 2 and this appears quicker.
  • Touch ID is insanely fast.
  • 3D touch is great and huge potential for future developments.
  • Trackpad on keyboard is good addition.
  • Live photos - to be decided on.
  • Camera - just took a few shots. As ever impressive and very fast.
  • Multi tasking is also very smooth.
  • Weight wise no significant difference for me personally but may bother some.
  • Screen is good but lacking to an extent, compared to rivals.
  • IOS running great on it. Wish though you could have split screen and slideover to fully utilise the screen space. It certainly has the specs to allow it.
Is it worth upgrading from 6 plus? Short answer yes. Wouldn't recommend the 16GB version which is what I have come from.
Is it an essential upgrade? Probably not.
Am I pleased I got it? Very.

It doesn't feel even more bulky and heavy to the point that it feels worse than the regular 6+?

Got mine about 45 minutes ago so very briefly so far:

The Touch ID to unlock is super fast, works while charging as well.

Display set to 50% brightness indoors and I don't see myself going past that.

Apps and Music downloaded very fast.

Touch and drag from left sde of screen to get to opened apps works great.

Music sounds very good, I have a pair of Sony XBA H1s and volume set to 50% is plenty. Tried some classical music, nice full sound from the orchestra.

Additional weight versus the iPhone 6 is noticeable going back and forth but negligble. I like the additional heft to tell the truth.

Subway Surfers and Temple Run opened in about 2 seconds (no lie), RR3 took about 5 seconds.

Hey Siri works great.

More later!

wow smoother than air 2? even on landscape portrait switches? that is great to hear considering air2 is native rez with no downscaling and 6S+ is still downscaling. go A9!

Depends on personal preference and expectations. I use it mainly with two hands so doesn't both me the additional weight. It will however both some who do like to use it one handed after a period of use.

Just some cursory speed tests (nothing scientific) e.g. boot up time, loading some apps from scratch. The 6s plus was quicker. Both are running same IOS version, same GB storage. Maybe I am lucky as read in some threads that people have experienced some issues.

nothing scientific. imo that is the most important. dont care if benchmark scores are lower but if it feels right then that is most important. thnx for sharing

sounds like u started new. maybe people who restored are still feeling the phone indexing everything. it takes a day or two sometimes

I've got that issue, too. iPhone 5s wouldn't work at all for me. iPhone 6 Plus would work a few days and then seem to forget my print. Both phones work fine recognizing the prints of other family members. I wash my hands a lot because of the house and yard work I do. I guess that has something to do with it. I don't know. My hands and prints look the same as anyone else I've compared them to. I hope things will be better with my 6S Plus

I previously had a 6+, and now have 6S+

Thoughts:

Touch ID is insanely fast, I've got my own little mini-game going to press so fast it doesn't unlock - unfortunately it's 1000-0 to Touch ID.

Camera seems no different at all, which is a disappointment.

I can definitely notice a slight weight difference, but I like it. It feels more rooted to my hand now.

The best thing about Live Photos is the wallpapers, but unfortunately I was under the impression when your phone wakes to display a notification, or if you wake it, the live background would move. It doesn't, which essentially means you have a standard static background, unless your 3D Touch. What's the point?

Lastly, 3D Touch seems like it has excellent potential, but just from a couple of hours of using it, I wish I could customise which options it displays, for example with the music app, being able to have my last playlist as an option, instead of Beats1. On a side note, I find 3D Touch whilst swiping a weird action to master. It doesn't feel fluid or intuitive. But it's early days.

The phone is blazing fast, super stable and as excellently crafted as ever though.
