really hoping the fingerprint sensor is much better at detecting a difficult print. couldn't use it for my 6 because it never was able to read my prints. always worked for an hour or two and then stopped. i have very dry skin and past issues that seem to have messed up my prints. wondering if the new phone will actaully work for those of us with these issues.

I too am in your same boat. To answer your question, Yes, it is MUCH better than both 6 and 6 plus. I am
Loving it! No issues at all so far ....

Thanks for the comments all, problem with the fingerprint thing is, I've partially solved this by only adding my thumb prints to be able to unlock the phone, so I can press the Home button with my index finger and not unlock it.

But, when I'm holding the phone, the only fingers that are ever used due to me holding it, are my thumbs, which means lighting up the phone and swiping up the camera shortcut is almost impossible. The home button is my "go to" button to wake up the phone whether it's in my hand or not and there's no easy solution where I effectively cannot respond to notifications while it's in my hand.

Seems petty and ridiculous but I hold the phone 2-handed so my other fingers are all behind the screen and if I'm using it one handed, the thumb is the only free digit to use.

Anyway, enough of my moaning, I am overall loving the new phone!

I pretty much have had it on continuously and only the very back top of the 6s is slightly warm, the rest is cool as a cucumber.

I have 5 websites opened in Safari and 3 games, Subways Surfers and Temple Run and Dots opened. Nothing has refreshed going back to any of them. Woot!

Played with the S and S Plus in store today. I want one, but can't justify the cost as I own a 6.

Key Thoughts:

- The phones feel so much better in hand than the 6 and 6 Plus do. My initial thoughts with the original 6 series phones were that they felt way too delicate and almost cheap feeling, the 6S series do not have this problem. I think it's due to the extra weight and new type of aluminium alloy, but they feel much sturdier and it makes the build quality feel superior. I would not be using a case with a 6 or 6 Plus. (I use the Apple leather case on my 6 now, after not using a case on either my 3G, 4 or 5 because of how cheap/delicate/slippery it feels)

- Live Photos are a terrible gimmick. I just don't understand the point. If you want a photo, you take a photo, if you want video, you shoot some video. All recent iPhones do this very well. Live Photo looks like a great high quality image, then it goes to a lower quality, choppy/low frame rate video for a few seconds. This is a feature that I would turn off immediately/never use.

- 3D Touch. I love it, I wish I had it on my 6. It feels so cool when it "kicks in" using the haptic engine, and it could see these context menus becoming very useful in every day usage.

- Rose Gold. Firstly, a disclaimer, I don't care if you want a pink phone. But admit it to yourselves and everyone else - the phone is pink. It looks nice, but it's not "copper", it doesn't "change depending on the light of the room", it's pink.

- Speed. They were really fast and fluid. One of the demo units I played with had 10 Safari tabs open, and a bunch of apps, when switching between tabs, they did reload. However, 10 tabs is quite a bit, and the same thing happens on the Air 2 with that many tabs open so a few days real world usage would be needed to make a a better assessment there.

Overall, I think this is the strongest S phone release to date. I would love to own one and am even thinking about buying a 6S+, but I'll wait till the hype wears off before I pull the trigger. I miss owning a white faced phone - I had a white 5, and was jealous of how good the black looked so I went back to black for the 6 - but I think that's just a case of "the grass is always greener".

Anyway, they seem like really great phones.

I notice that the fingerprint reader is VERY sensitive, like to the extent that almost 100% of the time if I press the home button very quickly, it's enough for it to read my fingerprint and unlock the phone.

Have you considered using another finger to wake up your phone and not unlock it?

Hey all,

Got my 6S Plus this morning and have to say, I am loving it. Not overly impressed with 4K video as I prefer the smoothness of 1080p at 60fps. 3D touch, I was a little sceptical about but I think it's delightful.

Only gripe, if you can call it that, is when I'm at work and my phones on the desk, I often press the home button quickly to light up the phone to see any notifications etc. Just to add my previous phone is a 6 Plus.

I notice that the fingerprint reader is VERY sensitive, like to the extent that almost 100% of the time if I press the home button very quickly, it's enough for it to read my fingerprint and unlock the phone.

Obviously this is a big thumbs up for the reader itself and the implementation of it but it does now mean that I have to retrain my mind to use the power button, which when it's laid flat on a table isn't very easy.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts. Also I'd like to add that the official leather case from Apple that I had on my 6 Plus fits the 6S Plus without any issues. Sure it's a little more snug getting it on but not to the extent that the fit is bad.

Paul.
How about using a finger you have not set up for finger print identification.

The best thing about Live Photos is the wallpapers, but unfortunately I was under the impression when your phone wakes to display a notification, or if you wake it, the live background would move. It doesn't, which essentially means you have a standard static background, unless your 3D Touch. What's the point?

I agree with this. I was under the same impression, I thought the motion would be constant not activated on 3D touch :(

This is my first iPhone and I'm loving it so far! I've only had really small phones before (my last phone was a Galaxy S2, so...) and it's sort of a struggle with my tiny baby hands (my thumb can't even reach the other side of the screen width-wise). 3D touch can be a little inconsistent (esp when trying to convert the keyboard into trackpad mode) but that might be because of the screen protector I have on? Also, is the click on the home button supposed to be so loud (I'm mainly using the app changer so I don't have to click it all the time to get back to the home screen)?

Problem with using a different finger is when I'm holding it the only fingers that have to use are my thumbs, so I can't press the home button to light up the screen when holding it because it unlocks so quick. And I can't use my index fingers as they are behind the phone when holding it. It sounds like I'm complaining about nothing but it's really going to be a massive inconvenience as the power button isn't reachable when holding the home in either one or two hands.

I'm loving mine, but the added weight is definitely noticeable to my hands. It's hefty! I prefer it, to be honest, since I always felt I was gonna break the 6 Plus.

I've noticed that whenever music or podcast playback is interrupted by another app that it isn't resuming immediately anymore... I don't think this is an iOS9 problem since I definitely would have remembered this on my 5.

Probably the most irritating thing to me is that opening up the Camera apps immediately stops music playback. I could get this for the Live Photos or if I was recording video... but it's irritating since I live in a city/walk around and take pictures frequently while listening to music.

Maybe simply use your finger nail when you click on the home button :) works perfectly!
