I’ll eventually get (I think the gold) pro max once they start selling the 512gb version here....

im assuming it’s the same yellow issue on the max as the others?

don’t know why anyone is mentioning 12 Max Pro is big...it’s no different than last years big iphone, slightly bigger I think...now my wife got the mini, that is a major difference! both phones are AMAZING! Apple hit it out of the park this year with the phones...love my clear case on the gold!

Had the 12 pro Max for about 11 hours now.

Gold looks incredible... super fast...easy to hold...

Really enjoying the phone but unfortunately it’s being returned.

Can’t understand why the display is so yellow. Same settings next to my 11 pro and my gf commented that it looks nicotine stained..

Was planning to use it for a filmic pro / LumaFusion workflow, but filming & editing seems a bit of a pain with inaccurate colours.

Really don’t know why they don’t have a more neutral colour profile on a “pro” phone

I returned by 12 pro and purchased the big boy. I upgraded from xs max to 12 pro and I noticed a huge size change but now with 12 pro max, I feel better 😉

What are you coming from though?

how much bigger than the XS Max?
I have the 12 Pro Max and XS Max side-by-side right now. Surprising the Pro Max is a bit taller and wider, but its not too big for it. You can definitely tell there is a bit more screen to it, but I like it. 6.7" makes it feel like an upgrade instead of just the same 6.5" screen.

Lol. No. Been disproven in the yellow screen thread.

People say this every year regarding the batch of yellow screens. And every year, there ends up being mostly non-yellow screens eventually.

We are already seeing examples of perfect non-yellow screens in peoples hands, with regular true tone, same as last year.

If you have a phone that doesnt match last year in tint, true tone, or calibration, you have a defect. Return it.

What has been disproven? That the screens are warmer? I'm sorry, but no, you're wrong. You find bits and pieces of evidence to support your narrative and then use that as "proof" that you're right, when all you're doing is drumming up unnecessary concern and worry over an issue that is MUCH smaller than how you make it sound (and I'm not saying there's zero basis for your complaints). You're also drumming up unnecessary and excessive returns and exchanges by spreading FUD over an issue that, again, is much smaller than what you're stating; and that hurts all of us in the long run.

That massive thread, in which you and I have already gone back and forth a little bit, has some legitimate concerns. But a majority of the people jumping on that bandwagon do not have a legitimate concern, but rather they're simply seeing the difference between the warmer True Tone on the 12 line, and saying, "yes, mine is too warm and yellow as well! It's going back!".

Your sensationalized premise in that thread is that Apple is screwing us over with their "leftovers", when we're really just seeing the normal yield tendencies that we see on just about every flagship device with an OLED screen. Please stop making this out to be bigger than it is.

12 Pro Max just arrived and it does feel heavier - or perhaps more "dense" - than my 11 Pro Max. Camera bump is larger and it is thicker. Got mine in Gold and love the look of the edges. I'd have preferred a glossy back to matte, but then maybe it would have been too "bling".

the 12 Pro Max is really big and thanks to the sharp edges more difficult to grab than the 11 Pro Max.
Still I am happy with my choice - the mini has some charm, but more as a secondary phone.

Just added a size comparison 11 vs 12 ...
(it seems the 11 is brighter than the 12)

Secondary device for the Mini? Are you kidding me? lol

Went from 6s+ to X to 12 pro max, and finally feel home! Yes, it’s a lot bigger and heavier (I am an woman with average hands), but typing is so much easier and accurate. The screen on the X is beautiful, and this one is even more. The hope is that this will be the bridge between my dying, old iPad mini and iphone. So far, I am happy!

Is that with True Tone on or off? Without True Tone, the whites should be more neutral.

It's Friday, November 13, which is the official launch date for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max. iPhone orders are arriving to customers, and Apple has begun selling the new devices in retail stores.

We've seen multiple reviews of the two new iPhones from media sites, but now regular customers have the smallest and largest iPhones in hand and are sharing their opinions of the device on the MacRumors forums. For those waiting for their own new iPhone or considering making a purchase, impressions from regular consumers provide useful insight.

iPhone 12 mini

MacRumors reader elephantnut had a long list of thoughts to share. The flat edges are a "welcome departure" from the rounded edges, but the design makes the phone look and feel thicker. The white color is "elegant but cute," and more of a warm white than a cool white.
MacRumors reader Hoobaman shared some useful photos of the iPhone 12 mini in a Leather Case for those wondering how the new leather cases look.

MacRumors reader pinchies said that the size is nice and allows for one-handed typing, but getting to Control Center still "requires a hand shuffle." The screen is dimmer than the iPhone 11, and it's not quite as sharp as expected. MacRumors reader skyhawkmatthew disagreed on sharpness, though, and said that "colour and sharpness on the display look great."

Prior 2016 iPhone SE owner Klasma said that the iPhone 12 mini is both heavier and larger than expected and not as "handy" as the SE when it comes to chassis size.

Other insights from iPhone 12 mini owners:
  • It's so small and lightweight that it feels like air
  • The notch eats up too much of the screen compared to the rest of the iPhone 12 lineup
  • Speakers sound much better compared to older iPhones, but sound is "thinner" than iPhone 11 with less bass
  • The screws on the bottom of the mini are not color matched to the device
  • The display is warmer than older iPhones
  • The iPhone 12 mini is barely noticeable in a pocket
iPhone 12 Pro Max

MacRumors reader Vengapat9 returned his iPhone 12 Pro because of battery life issues and chose the iPhone 12 Pro Max with its larger battery. He says the phone is "big as hell" and a "tiny bit wider," with the larger screen displaying more information "even better."

MacRumors reader Gtg456x loves the larger screen size and says that it "doesn't seem that big."MacRumors reader Ryancgray said that the stabilization for video recording is "incredible," while MacRumors reader lukeoneill90 said that the iPhone 12 Pro Max is "blazing fast" with quality speakers.

Other insights from iPhone 12 Pro Max owners:
  • The gold color is stunning and classy
  • Face ID is the same as on 11 Pro Max
  • Weight is similar to 11 Pro Max
  • Feels more solid and secure to hold than 11 Pro Max
  • HDR video recording is amazing, it looks very real and vibrant
  • It's huge and may take some time to get used to

Black mini arrived today. Instant relief from XR hand-ache; an absolute delight to hold in the hand. On max brightness, screen is brighter than XR but dimmer than 6s. More accurate than XR to type on, no more . instead of space. On max volume the speaker is louder than XR but has more treble - no issue for podcasts.

Absolutely loving my mini coming from my X

Doing the same thing. Briefly saw my Mini before I left for work, but it felt great and the size difference was exactly what I was looking for. Should be solid.

For $20/month ($250 trade-in), I’m more than happy.

So, busy working and haven’t “Used” new 12 pro max yet, but coming from a 6S plus I can say size (Height x width) is non factor. But the weight difference (40g, 1.4 oz) is VERY noticeable - like 20% increase noticeable. Will see if it becomes non issue. Or if I may consider switching back to the 12. My wife has one and display and weight are pretty comparable to my 6s plus in a smaller form factor.

Still, I like screen real estate so hoping I can quickly “un feel” the increase in weight

Sounds like you 100% agree with me - that there are differences in yield, etc.

Those differences are a color temp that is even 1% different than last year. Apple themselves already said there should be no differences in calibration YoY. The calibration hasnt changed in many years.

There is no "intentional warming". There never is. If your screen is yellow at all, its a defect. End of story.

I've been using an iPhone X since launch, and I've been delaying and debating what to get for a long time. Well, my iPhone 12 Pro Max has arrived and I've got to say I'm impressed. I've had almost every model of iPhone since the original (except for the last 2 model years) and I've got to say, this thing is finally feeling like a premium phone. My best comparison is to when I unboxed my Nokia 8800 eons ago, well built, hefty feel that makes it feel like a near luxury device.

My last big phone was a 6s Plus, and this seems similar in size, it certainly isn't small. I'll post more after I've used it for a day, it's probably going to take a little bit to get used to the bigger size...

finished setting up my 12mini. some rough moments; when i synced to my mac, all my music copied to the phone... twice. sorted it out, but then a lot of cover art was wrong. had to remove the music app (twice), and sync again. ugh. and apps stalled on downloading (a reboot fixed that).

but the phone is great; small & light (compared to my previous XS); it is NOT getting hot (& it's been running all day); color is good. camera is better (compared a shot of same thing with both cameras).

we'll see how battery life goes, etc. but am happy with it so far.
