For me, coming from a 8 Plus, it would take only a few seconds to get used to!
Hmmm coming from a 8+ too and it will take me sometime to get used to it though... taller wider heavier by a tiny bit but I can feel the difference.

I ended up with a 12 Pro Max in Pacific Blue. So far so good. I don't dare go too far with it yet as I'm waiting for Twelve South to release it's Book Book in that size. Now, if I could just get my hands on one of the new XBOX series X machines I'd be all set for a while ;)

My Mini is fantastic. I really hope it sells well so that Apple sticks with the size for years to come. Even switching just from a 11 Pro (last year's smallest flagship), it's hard to imagine wanting to go back to such a large and heavy phone. I'd still prefer a bit smaller (and I don't even have small hands), but the Mini is a home run for me so far.
I love my mini. Small enough to provide some friction using it. Do it helps with my digital detox.
i hope they do a mini pro next year

Yesterday I received my 12 Pro Max. I’m coming from an iPhone XS Max. It’s definitely larger and heavier, so keep that in mind.

The camera is certainly a bit better, but don’t expect the camera to replace your DSLR; they’re not there yet.

Apart from the camera, the most noticeable performance difference comes in battery, with this phone having lasted me an extra hour and a half than the XS MAX.

The biggest disappointment is the lack of 120hz, particularly at this price point.

Unless you really need the upgraded camera, or a new phone, wait another year.
Yeah, much as I wanted to upgrade my 11 Pro to the 12 Pro, it felt very much a small iterative step up. very small improvements to camera, slightly larger display, same battery life, no noticeable differences in speed for daily use, and I never open 20 apps then see if they’re still open so the extra RAM isn’t a selling point. What is a selling point is 120Hz display, bigger improvements to camera, and more 5G widespread availability.

Upgraded today from iPhone SE (OG) to iPhone 12 Mini — I can say that the mini definitely feels bigger in my hand than I expected, but anything bigger than the SE was bound to feel strange. Typing has been much more comfortable and accurate, though reaching the new emoji toggle underneath the keyboard is not comfortable yet. Despite this, it’s been rather easy to use one-handed, which was my biggest concern. Let me clarify: when I’m using it right-handed it’s only a slightly higher stretch to drag down from the top of the screen for notifications and control center. Not as uncomfortable as expected. However if I’m using it left-handed then it’s impossible to perform the massive reach-swipe down for control center...that will take some getting used to. Overall the device is gorgeous and I’m hopeful in the future Apple will take away those extra millimeters around the edge of the screen and make it a (slightly) more comfortable reach again.
Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap.

Then set two or three back taps to invoke control centre, also you could set the other tap to scroll down?

Hope this helps.

For I think the first time, I was on track to receive a product on day one. Happily "Followed my delivery", until it went all the way around the delivery area a few times, passing me by directly at least twice.

Went for a quick drive and caught up with the truck. "Oh, hi, I haven't been by yet because I can't find your package. System says it's on the truck, but it's not." Followed the apparently-empty truck online all the way back to the station.

This morning all the "out for delivery" scans disappeared, and it's back in "In transit".

Guessing it's been inadvertently kicked under the conveyor belt or someone walked off with it during load-out. Bah.

Apple won't followup until it's 72 hours late.

I‘m not sure what you mean by gauging integrity? I ordered my phone around 10am ET on 11/6, phone arrived yesterday. I think I got one of the lesser demand ones since I went with the 512 GB.

I’ve pre-ordered practically every iPhone, every watch, many of the computers, etc. Never had any thought that my dealings weren’t being handled with integrity. My Apple Watch, due next week, was pushed back a couple of days but I assumed that was due to the hurricane, since I got the notice during the storm.

Have you checked to see if your desired model is available locally? If so, cancel your order and go buy. Have you reached out to Apple to find out what is up with your order? Could it be an issue with the delivery co (UPS) rather than Apple?
you’re lucky then, because Apple is not consistent on orders and deliveries in my experience. This latest problem was so egregious, I had to say something online... and it was Apple, not UPS

I did the work, ordering the phone at 5am on Nov 6... Apple promised Nov 13 delivery. My checkout and confirmation email both said Nov 13... The part you miss is that Apple did not tell me until Nov 13 that the phone was delayed until Nov 23...

Surely, Apple knew the device would not show up on Nov 13 BEFORE Nov 13... and then there’s the question of why not? When local stores had it in stock, and other people received their phones at home that day.

Apple Store isn’t easy for everyone. Pandemic aside, it’s a long drive, and they always make you wait, even when you’re just picking up. Besides, you shouldn’t have to jump through extra hoops...

When you are one of the first to order, you should also be one of the first to receive... otherwise what was the point of getting up at 5 am that day?...

Now Apple says my green 12 mini won’t arrive until November 25. At least Apple told me in advance this time,

so you see why I could think there’s something shady going on. I didn’t even tell you about the customer service chat I had... it was frustratingly unproductive and surreal.

#firstworldproblem

Dud stop winching, problems can happen. Absolutely nothing unusual, and not lack of integrity, and I don't know your jurisdiction but I would be amazed if there was recourse for a pre-order delivery that doesn't arrive on the exact date.

If you are so desperate to get one now, then just go get on in a shop. Plenty is available, and you don't have to get it from an Apple store if that is too far for you. Easy peasy and you have your new phone now instead of next week.

Way too small of a screen for an Apple Pencil. Would be a poor decision. The iPad mini is almost too small as is.
Too small for the Pro Max? I guess it depends on what the casual use case would be for:

signatures,
Light casual art work (beginners possibly),
Light quick on the go editing of pics ?
A quick notes sketch?

maybe the Apple Pencil is far too expensive but for those that already on an iPad and pencil plus iPhone meh maybe.

Like I said, I’m coming from an XS and I would have waited had I could. You’re right, 120hz will be a game changer and the camera is still lacking. Moreover, 5G at this point is not even an upgrade. As people migrate to 5G, LTE speeds will increase and possibly surpass 5G, in the short term.

Any consensus on the yellow displays?

Well the wife's 12 Mini is definitely yellow, progressively worse off axis.

Your own experience and/or luck may vary but just anecdotally - a friend bought a 12 for his son and said he was disappointed with the OLED compared to his own Pixel 5, thought the older IPS iPhone displays looked better. I've been using a Samsung S10e since the smaller SE wasn't directly replaced and was holding out a lot of hope for the 12 Mini but after using the wife's a little I think I'll pass, possibly go for the Pixel 5 next too (though after nearly 2 years the Samsung is still running flawlessly TBH).

I'm a visual designer by trade and I always use calibrated displays so the relatively strong yellow on the 12 really jumps out to me, very disappointed. I'm not sure what the issue is as it just looks like a relatively poor OLED, the fact the colour tint worsens noticeably off axis comes into that, my Samsung display looks generations better in comparison with no issues I've ever noticed.

I got my mini late last week, and today I'm investigating if I can return it. The speakers (in particular the earpiece for taking phone calls) is pretty atrocious. This is the first $1000+ phone I've bought (and the first iPhone I've bought in 4 years) and it's the worst at doing the most basic function. Love everything else about it though :(

Talk with Apple. It could be defective.

What’s the issue with the earpiece? Is it just a defect with your phone or is it present in all models? I will say with mine I have found, unlike previous iPhones I’ve owned, that my ear has to be over the exact right spot to hear at full volume, otherwise my caller sounds distant or completely silent. That said, I usually use headphones or speaker phone for calls so I don’t find it a problem, but it has taken some getting used to.

First impressions? Out of the box one had damaged scuffed gold frame and the other has a green tint to the display. On a plus note, the battery life on the Pro Max is outstanding.
