Its odd Apple and Apple fans love to talk about sales figures, but I think people must have gotten tired of iPhones. Because frankly I don't see people with them as much as I used to. It seems like everyone really likes bigger screen phones. It used to be for every 10 people I'd see out in about, 8 of them would have iPhones, no it's more like 6 in 10 people have large screen Android phones.

I LOVE Android Phones from a hardware perspective, but always hated the operating system. So I think the iPhone 6 and 6plus are definitely a step in the right direction. I'm not convinced it's worth upgrading from the 5 (it was a free replacement phone) that I got just two months ago. I was waiting forever for an large screen iPhone that would match Android phones and while this finally has the screen size, I'm not impressed with the specs. I would have liked a much improved camera, battery, and maybe Beats audio drivers added (I'm sure it'll be in the 6splusplus).

You don't see people with iPhones? Where ARE you? They're everywhere.

----------

One of my worries is charge time. I have the 6+ and did a charge test from 20% to a full 100% it took 3 hours and 20 mins. WOW that's slow. I will try to do a full dead to full but I suspect close to 4 hours.

Use an iPad charger.

Finally got to the Apple Store today to see and hold them in person.

6 Plus looks nice but is far too large to be practical for me. Too big for the gym, too big for running, and too big to fit comfortably in many of my pairs of jeans.

The iPhone 6 on the other hand felt perfect in hand. Excellent size and lightweight. Too bad landscape mode is 6 Plus exclusive. Gold looked a lot better in person than the pictures online. Space Grey 6 is much better looking than the Space Gray 5S.

This is where I am torn. I stood in the store and read books and websites on both and for those purposes, which are important to me, the plus is the better phone. It is also better at lengthy emails and to to basic document editing. Often I get things I need to respond to before I can get to my computer and the ability to use my phone would be wonderful. Taking notes in meetings with a bluetooth keyboard would be great as well- thats if they improve the keyboard in landscape mode so that you can see more than two lines of text.

However, for the gym and leisure use it takes up so much room in my pocket it would be uncomfortable in gym cloths, working in the yard, almost anything involving movement- at least that what I think now.

Decisions, decisions...

I just picked up a extra 12W charger at Best Buy for $19.00. I figured no mater what I plugged in this one will charge at the best Wattage for all my stuff.

I will have to pick one up and compare it. I also ordered a anker dual port charger. I'm not too happy with supplied charger since it took 3hr 20min from 20 to 100%. I never tested the wattage until now. Surprise both the 6+ and my old 4s are pulling 6 watts when the charger is rated at 5w. I tested my killawatt on a lamp with cfl bulb and a led bulb and they gave the accurate wattage.

The 6Plus is too big because they just enlarged an existing design, which isn't the elegance one expects from Apple.

It i bigger than other phones with smaller displays, thanks to the huge areas above and below the display. I get the bottom due to touch ID (most people have ditched the physical buttons) but the top could be shrunk down. There was much more "space" in that phone.

Next gen, they need to work that out more.

I think it is a battle between design and function. Maybe they want to keep the proportion of the top and bottom bezel close for aesthetic reasons, or is their hardware in that top bezel that needs the space?

Using my new 6 for a couple of days now. I think the 6 has to be the MOST fragile feeling phone Apple has ever put out. In all the years of owning Apple products I have never once purchased Apple Care - I will be purchasing the extended warranty for THIS phone.

Agree, the iPhone 5(s) is too small for that usage. But - isn't that kind of usage the core competence of iPad's ?

what? why would you use your phone to take notes in a meeting? there are much better alternatives:

- laptop
- ipad + bluetooth keyboard
- notebook
- note pad
- pay better attention

Here's hoping when it comes time for the iPhone 6S, Apple will make a 4.0 inch screen phone option.. I'm not a fan of bigger screens on the iPhone at all. I have an iPad for when I need that.

Same issue here with the new iPhones. I like the size of my iPhone 5 and don't want a bigger one. I will not buy an iPhone 6 now and wait with what Apple will come up in the future. However, with a given lifetime of approx. 4 years on the iPhones I cannot wait forever.

Use an iPad charger.

Charging a Li-Ion battery is a demand driven system. The phone/battery circuitry controls how much current is supplied to the battery to prevent it from heating up to much or overcharging and catching on fire. The charger is nothing more than a power conditioning device rated to to a maximum amount of power it can provide to the device.

Long story short using an iPad charger won't make a difference, the phone is still going to restrict how fast it can charge. If Apple thought it was safe to charge faster they would have supplied a charger that could provide more power.

Are you sure ? The iPhone 5 ( iOS6 & iOS7 ) charges very quick with the iPad charger, did it a few times. No battery issue here.

I hate carrying around an iPad, along with a phone and a computer. Would rather have just a phone and a computer, but there are times when my computer is not practical with space provided. I will eventually get a macbook air, which is probably optimal.

Im afraid the 5s is the last iphone for you then. Once apple decided to go big, there was no going back. Only thing i can think of is maybe the Iphone 7 will have the same size display but minimal top and bottom bezels, who knows.

There is at least hope in the iPhone 6C having a 4" screen.

I couldn’t decide between the 6 or 6 Plus when I was placing my pre order so I pre ordered them both with a view of sending one back.

After having a play around with them both with the things I use my iPhone for, I found the 6 Plus was better for me.

I opened the 6 first of all and my first impression was that I was a bit underwhelmed with the size of the screen. Moving from the 5s, it was only a tad more than half inch larger screen, and I was wanting a larger screen that I would notice, but feared the 6 Plus might have been not right for me, hence pre ordering both model.

I then opened the 6 Plus and my first impression was, its big. But after playing around with it for 10 minutes I didn’t find an issue with the size.

Playing games, using Safari, typing, I found the 6 Plus was better for me. Comparing the keyboard/keys size, side by side on the 5s, 6, 6 Plus. I found very little difference in the size of the keys between the 5s and the 6, whereas with the 6 Plus the keys were noticeable larger. And as I type a lot on my iPhone, the larger keys, keyboard are important for me. Also playing a landscape game such as Asphalt was a better experience on the 6 Plus.

One surprise, I was thinking that the 6 Plus might be awkward/uncomfortable to hold. But I find the opposite, I think the way Apple have designed them, with them been thin and rounded edges, this makes the iPhone easy/comfortable to hold. Also I find the large size of the 6 Plus makes me feel safer holding the iPhone over the smaller iPhones I owned previously, the larger size gives me more to grip and I feel a lot less likely to drop it (if that makes sense). Obviously the 6 Plus is not going to be a smartphone that can be used one handed, but I never used my previous iPhone’s one handed so I’m not bothered about this. Also, the 6 Plus fits in my jeans pocket quite comfortable, and isn't uncomfortably due to it been thin.

I must admit, I used to think “5 inch + smartphones, whats the point in them” but after using one for a few days I wouldn’t want to move back to a smaller one again.

I’m pleased I did what I did pre ordering the 6 and 6 Plus, it helped me make my choice a lot easier.

Get an iPad and an iPod nano. :). Perfect.

I'm really not sold on the iPhone 6's larger screen and its less solid feel versus the iPhone 5S. The back feels less substantial and the antenna bands feel cheap, not to mention it doesn't fit nearly as well in your hand, or rather hands since it's so large. I also don't like the silver edge around the front of the phone since it makes it look a little outdated.

I wonder why Apple chose to increase the screen size so much; I think a 4.5" screen would be more ideal, that or the bezels should be smaller. I'm eligible for an upgrade on October 1 and while I wouldn't mind paying up for the new iPhone since getting the 32GB 5S seems a little strange since there's a new one out, I really prefer the look and feel of the 5S more than the new but not necessarily better 6.

By increasing the size of the display but still play with dual core processors with underlying 64 bit architecture, the next gen iPhones will definitely beat the .... out of IP6 & IP6+ with quad core processors, more RAM etc... Just imagine how those who have bought iPhones now would feel?

likely about the same as ever because developers program to the lowest devices and there will be a crap load of iPhone 5/5s/6/6+ out there when the 6S/6S+ is released so developers will be forced to program to make it work on those legacy devices

What makes you think there will be an iPhone 6C?

There was a 5C. Apple released the 5C to scoop up certain people who would otherwise not buy an iPhone, and I don't see why they wouldn't do it again with another iPhone generation. I'm not assuming that the 6C will exist, only guessing/hoping.

Just had a go with my friend's gold iPhone 6 Plus, for half an hour. Yes, it's very lovely and very nice - very nice indeed. However, he pays £63 a month for the privelidge of having it (including his tariff of course), and had to pay £300 up front for it (apparently it's £700 cost for the phone alone). He tells me that after a year is up, he'll have paid ~ £1,000 in total.

Sorry, you must be insane to smoke that amount of hard earnt cash on a mere phone. Yes, it's a lovely lovely phone, but £700 for A PHONE? ... A PHONE?!

To recap... it's A PHONE... I'll wait for people to jump in and give all manner of justifications as to why it's not such a bad deal, probably putting these justifications in relation to *other* ridiculously priced smart phones, NOT in relation to real life with bills, outgoings, food and rent etc.

Nice phone yes... but the price? You must be high, or paid too much. It could wash up and hoover the floor for all I care... but £700 is purely stupid, and the funny thing is, people will (and do) pay it.

Utterly unbelievable :p

iPhone 6+ on the cusp of being too big

I bought an iPhone 6+ and I am beginning to see why Steve Jobs wasn't a fan of the bigger phone.

I will probably keep this one, since I like the optical stabilization hardware and the higher dpi of the screen, but my iPhone 7 will probably be the smaller model, assuming carpal tunnel syndrome doesn't ruin my hand completely by then.

It depends on how much you use it. I use my iPhone 95% of the time and my MacBook 5%. For me spending over $1K on a Macbook is ridiculous but not so for a smartphone I use all the time. And is it really just a phone nowadays? Not in the least. They're computers in our pockets.

It doesn't matter how much it's used, the price is utterly ridiculous - IT IS A PHONE... A mobile phone, not a car, not a MacBook...

A

PHONE.
