By increasing the size of the display but still play with dual core processors with underlying 64 bit architecture, the next gen iPhones will definitely beat the .... out of IP6 & IP6+ with quad core processors, more RAM etc... Just imagine how those who have bought iPhones now would feel?

I imagine they would feel excited to see the new equipment. Everybody expects better equipment to be out after they buy a piece of electronics.

Well it was bound to happen, but no reason for it. Been a huge Apple fan for decades. They screwed up my iPhone 6 order I placed at 3AM on 12th, was suppose to deliver today. I'm currently in the black hole of procedures to resolve. 4 calls to order support and still run around. They have been releasing these things every year you'd think they would have worked out the bugs on ordering! What knuckleheads!

We should put you in charge and see if you can get several million phones delivered with no glitches.

=)
You're genuinely awesome for this!

Probably more like genuinely annoying, but thanks. Finding rhetorical head-slappers in MR articles is like the proverbial shooting of fish in a barrel. It's too easy to be sporting. But what the heck, if they don't care then why should I?

Well, to get this convo back on track then, I'll add this tidbit:
I have the gold 4.7" & it is NOT even slightly yellow gold; it is actually closer to the rose gold of the new Apple watch. Looks fabulous.

Not all the apps are blurry! The optimised ones look amazing, Things will get updated pretty quickly!
The jump from 4S to a 6 will be outstanding.
I was so shocked by the size of the 6 Plus initially but now it feels so natural and I don't think I could ever go back!

Yeah. I was playing with the iPhone 6 at the Apple Store earlier. I'm torn between the white (silver back) or black. Both are really nice. The 6+ is too big for my hands.

What features does the iPhone 6 on T-Mobile have that the 5S doesn't have with respect to the T-Mobile network? Wi-Fi calling is on both? Both are Cat 4 LTE devices? Are both VOLTE capable? I am just curious as I might get the 5S as a replacement (refurb one too) for my defective S5.

These two sentences contradict each other.

Lol...they don't look that bad. But there definitely is a noticeable difference in quality between the ones that have been optimized and those that haven't....

There's a lot to look forward to as apps are updated. Tons of behind the scenes improvements for devs to take advantage of. We'll be seeing new little feature updates for a while.

The 6Plus is too big because they just enlarged an existing design, which isn't the elegance one expects from Apple.

It i bigger than other phones with smaller displays, thanks to the huge areas above and below the display. I get the bottom due to touch ID (most people have ditched the physical buttons) but the top could be shrunk down. There was much more "space" in that phone.

Next gen, they need to work that out more.

yeah i already know the 6 plus is way to big. the 6 is where it's at and it's a shame that everyone talks down about it as "the regular iphone". the 6 Plus took the attention away from the fact that 6 now has an absolutely gorgeous display that has even more screen real estate than the 5/5S, yet it still easy to handle

Apple obviously isn't ready to shrink the bars down yet. It probably has a lot to do with it being an iconic iPhone look.

12Wcharger

whats the amp on the charger for the 6+? im little worried that it will take long to charge since the 5s is half the size and charging takes a little over 2 hours. read most of the reviews and no one mentions the charging. I hope they used the ipad mini chargers.
I just picked up a extra 12W charger at Best Buy for $19.00. I figured no mater what I plugged in this one will charge at the best Wattage for all my stuff.

Needed this to Compete

Its odd Apple and Apple fans love to talk about sales figures, but I think people must have gotten tired of iPhones. Because frankly I don't see people with them as much as I used to. It seems like everyone really likes bigger screen phones. It used to be for every 10 people I'd see out in about, 8 of them would have iPhones, no it's more like 6 in 10 people have large screen Android phones.

I LOVE Android Phones from a hardware perspective, but always hated the operating system. So I think the iPhone 6 and 6plus are definitely a step in the right direction. I'm not convinced it's worth upgrading from the 5 (it was a free replacement phone) that I got just two months ago. I was waiting forever for an large screen iPhone that would match Android phones and while this finally has the screen size, I'm not impressed with the specs. I would have liked a much improved camera, battery, and maybe Beats audio drivers added (I'm sure it'll be in the 6splusplus).

Here's hoping when it comes time for the iPhone 6S, Apple will make a 4.0 inch screen phone option.. I'm not a fan of bigger screens on the iPhone at all. I have an iPad for when I need that.

Im afraid the 5s is the last iphone for you then. Once apple decided to go big, there was no going back. Only thing i can think of is maybe the Iphone 7 will have the same size display but minimal top and bottom bezels, who knows.

We will start getting updates a plenty soon. Facebook is Unopimized and Twitter is optimised. You can tell by the header bar with the signal and battery strength indicators. It's twice the size on FB and other apps.
The Unopimized apps look a bit bloated definitely.

It's funny that some apps, like 1password, have updated to implement the new TouchID features but aren't optimized for the bigger screens. The blown up header bar is driving me crazy on my 6+! Evernote is one of the very few apps that has optimized for the screen size and is just stunning looking.

I was at an Apple store tonight (where people were still waiting in line for the new phones) and I thought the phones looked much better in person than in pictures. Based on photographs I was expecting the camera bulge to look awful but it is hardly noticeable (very similar to iPod touch). And while I'm still not sold on the look of the antenna lines they looked much better seeing the phone in person than in any photo. The person I was with loved how thin and light the 6 was (she preferred the curved sides to the more boxy 5) and never once commented on the camera or antenna lines.

Um, I think Touch ID and the home button have something to do with it. Until they can come up with a solution for that which allows them to shrink the bezels I don't see the bezels going anywhere. Apple will never do asymmetric bezels.

Got mine today, and am glad I decided on the 4.7 the 5.5 would have been way to big...besides iPhones are supposed to be smaller and better than all the rest right? like a david/goliath thing lol

I'm sure there is a 3 bears joke here some where.

Next years ad will say the 4.7" was just too small, the 5.5" was way to big.

This year try the 5.15" iPhone "its just right", lol.

It's silly, really, because "optimizing for iPhone 6" really just means recompiling in Xcode 6 in some cases. The iPhone 6 sees an old app and scales it up from 1136x480 instead of just telling the app that the screen now has different dimensions. Most well-designed apps would rescale themselves appropriately in that case without the need for an update. Now, I'm not 100% sure that I properly laid out the GUI on my apps... I can see why Apple would consider this risky. But an option to change the dimensions and attempt a proper rescale would have been nice. Oh well, everyone will just update their apps eventually.

I did get a chance to get up close and personal with an iPhone 6 yesterday, a girl that was waiting with me at the car wash had one.. She had just gotten it the day prior (release day) She had a gold & white 4.7 inch version and thought it was too big for her small hands.

I on the other hand didn't think it was as horrible as I thought it might be, in fact I thought it was nice. The only thing that bothers me a little bit is the camera protrusion.

So yeah, I think I could go with that, but not the 5.5

@MrCrowbar
BUT... Could you comfortably sit down, walk or drive with the 6+ still in the pocket or is it a requirement to remove it? Same question for both front pocket and back pocket. I wear same size so thanks for the reference and helping shape my decision until I can get to an apple store to compare.

I personally wouldn't put a smartphone in the back pocket simply because things get squished when you lean back and it's also quite uncomfortable.

The phones are strapped down in the store so it'll be hard to try out the practicability. They should really have non-functional dummies so you can try it out in your pockets, sitting down (you can't sit down anywhere in the iPhone aisles... in an apple store)and generally judge the haptics of it.

iPhone 7 at earliest. Touch ID could be integrated in the screen, instead. Could probably be done. I think a lot could be done if they wanted to. Apple could leap frog everyone in terms of design and tech, but they would have to compromise on their profit margins. So, instead we grow old waiting for the usual incremental hardware upgrades, and see our money end up as dividends for rich people, or go to Dr. Dre.

One of my worries is charge time. I have the 6+ and did a charge test from 20% to a full 100% it took 3 hours and 20 mins. WOW that's slow. I will try to do a full dead to full but I suspect close to 4 hours.
