To me, 512MB RAM is a must, in no way Apple can still put 256MB RAM in this tablet. Well, thinner and lighter? It ought to be. Crappy camera? who cares, just one for video conferencing is amazing enough. :D

But I'm still getting one!! :)

Needed 1 GB ram minimum.

I am certain Apple could have put every piece of current technology in the iPad and wound up with a $2000 device. With the goal of maintaining prior price points, the iPad 2 includes reasonable compromises: boost the speed, lighten the weight, provide Face Time support. As component costs drop, iPad 3 will be even better.

Am i the only one who thinks that the iPad 2 has such an atrocious, ugly design? just look at the speaker grill... hell id get the iPad 1 over this just because of that.

The one review mentions Android tablets crashing. These are also more likely to get viruses as Google doesn't check the apps over like Apple does. There have already been viruses on android devices because of this.

Umm it is more powerful. RAM isn't everything.

RAM is very crucial in a mobile multi-tasking device.

True but it is quite a but faster

Why are people saying the ram isn't enough? The reviews say that it never crashed while the 1gb ram on androids does........that's the advantage apple has by making the hardware and software

The amount of drawbacks that Tolpolsky listed throughout his review simply CANNOT warrant a 9/10.

The guy even says HE WOULD LIKE APPLE TO ADD FLASH to the iPad, for crying out loud. Most Apple fanatics don't want flash and he still gave it an Apple fanatic review score.

Do you FEEL LIKE A BIG MAN IF YOU TYPE IN uppercase. I hate to see what you would be doing while TYING IN uppercase and using a larger bold font!

I would have more respect for the reviewers if they said the obvious:

"We recommend you wait for the iPad 3, because the iPad is still just a big iPod Touch, despite it being the best performing tablet on the market right now."

Yep... I tried out a Xoom a few days ago -- the thing's just a bigger heavier Kindle.

And my PC is nothing more than a friggin' non portable heavy-ass net book that doesn't even fold. Piece of ****.

.

I could hand mine down to my father and save him some money. Such a hard decision.

Ah, sounds like you have a very philanthropic excuse. Do it! ;)

I do the same thing with my older Macs from work — offer them to friends who aren't loaded with cash. It means I can just write it off from a tax perspective, and make someone else happy at the same time.

Glad its 512M, if it is. No word from Apple yet.

Will probably buy one in April, 16G Wifi, and give my iPad 1 to my wife, who likes reading books on it (and browsing and news apps). Cameras are just fine for Facetime and Skype.

I have to agree with the other writer... what do you care if the product is fast and snappy?

For me it comes down to the total experience. If it works well and does what I want... I'm buying it. I don't care about the ram unless applications just run like crap because of it.

And some parts of the iPad's experience are pretty crappy. Safari tabs require reloading all the time because the cache is purged to preserve RAM. Memory-heavy applications crash at random. And multitasking does slow down the device.

I agree that it's all about the user experience, and I'm psyched to hear that the iPad 2 has twice as much memory because the user experience of the original iPad sometimes is frustrating!

they don't know how much RAM it has
they are assuming even if they have an iPad 2
they should post pics of the inside then

I wonder how the VLC app will be on this... glad I snagged it before Apple had to pull it...

Er, I'm more excited about the old one's price going down. I'm not the kind of person who gets the most recent :apple: stuff (not that that's a bad thing).

And I've noticed that Apple's old stuff isn't their old stuff. It's their lower-end stuff. Sure, the iPhone 4 is expensive compared to some other cheapo smartphones, but the 3Gs is only $50, which is less than a lot of non-smart phones! So I see the 3Gs as Apple's low-end model especially since you can still buy it new.

So that's how you get a Mac cheaper than a Dell :)

I tried to get it from Cydia, but the one I got was a piece of @#$%. It never worked properly...

Why did Apple pull it again? Also, in my opinion, Apple should have a "beta" section of the App Store for nerds who like to get stuff before it comes out. The Droid store (or whatever it is) has betas. Of course, it sucks so much in general that it's better just to get the iPhone and wait a little longer for stuff to be released :D

The guided tours alone are so utterly, ridiculously well done. This is Apple folks. Attention to detail, refined fit and finish top to bottom.

Nice signature :), it reminds me of Adobe when they said that they would move away from Apple's iOS in 2010 when Apple already moved away from Adobe in 2007! Apple has great quality control. They were the only company "man enough" to say "no" to the hideously glitchy and laggy Flash. Not to sound like a fan, but I do really hate Flash. On Mac and Windows alike, it sucks!
