I honestly don’t think Apple is going to go back to a new 4 inch design. That ship has sailed off and left some people stranded on the island.

You might as well try to adjust to it sooner rather than later. Just my 2 cents.
I agree, I can’t see them going smaller.

In ~5 years, I seem to have gone from bleeding-edge tech enthusiast/must-have-flagship person, to a complete stick-in-the-mud who refuses to “upgrade”.

I know I hold a minority position - but the ability to comfortably use a phone one handed is probably my number 1 most-desired feature. Closely followed at number 2 by a headphone jack...

So I can’t bring myself to spend close to £1000 to lose these most useful features, and gain nothing as useful in return. Haptic vibrations? Not worth it thanks

I have tried (and returned) an 8, XS, and now a 12 Mini. Compared to 5S/SE1 size, they are all heavy, two-handed devices.

And to those who say “go to android” - that’s not a viable option if I value privacy (some would say Apple don’t respect this either.)

In a duopoly with Apple & Google as the only players, consumer demands don’t drive the market - Apple and Google do. No one ever wanted the removal of the headphone jack - removing this centuries tried and tested open standard did nothing to benefit the customer. But without a meaningful free choice, everyone literally bought into it. Along with £150 disposable AirPods....(replaceable every two years due to battery degradation)

Remember pre-2007 when wide consumer choice existed in the phone market? Voting with your wallet doesn’t work in a duopoly.

rant over.

Cynical as hell. But I loved it and you do have a point. 😀😀

@Daiken If you’re used to big Android phones like OnePlus ones, yeah, you might not notice it. But if you’re an iPhone user and prefer compact sizes like the regular iPhone 6/7/8, or even the X, yes, you will notice the huge size of the 6.7” Pro Max. Even with an iPhone 11 Pro (5,8”) I was able to stretch my thumb upwards and activate notification centre or control centre with the same hand I was holding it. Now with the regular 6.1” iPhone 12 Pro it is almost impossible (running the risk of slipping the phone), and with the iPhone 12 Pro Max you cannot operate it that way. Unless, of course, you use both hands each time you need to use your smartphone. I’m a one handed iPhone user so the mini is ideal for me.

Reachability is useful and can help but I don’t see myself using reachability all the time.

Yeah I can give you that. After a weekend with the phone I noticed some things.

Screen itself seems more yellowish than my wife's 11. True Tone off and so on. But that is for another thread.

We measure the phone with OP7, OP6 and then iPhone 6S and the iPhone 11.

I can see what you mean with going from a smaller iphone to the Max model. However the plus model and 11 max seems almost identical. so not really sure how that small amount is still bugging people off calling it big if you come from the 11 max. it is sligthly bigger if you come from a max model. But that is just my opinion.

For reference I do not have big hands.

Regarding the reachability i think i got used to it with time as i've used a bigger phone during the Android time.

I'm amazed how much screen estate you have compared to the 8 plus which is my work phone.

The camera is just amazing, will try it out more but the portrait mode with the 2.5x zoom is amazing for taking picture of my daughter running around in the playground. Did not actually thought I would use it as much as I'm doing. Rather do the telephoto shot than running with the phone in my daughters face :D

overall happy with the phone, it's fast, looks nice and feels nice (i loved the 5S design).

Just the screen i'm torned between due to more yellowish.
