I would complain because it would be “slightly thicker” but a lot thicker plus heavier and I want a slim and light phone with great cameras. I don’t care about the bumps at all.

We’ve had flush cameras and still had a phone that fits in your pocket. The latest compromise is to make a bigger camera bump so your terrible camera can be slightly less terrible, but we had terrible cameras flush on the body before and no one complained.

Camera bumps and notches are compromises. Thicker phones are alternative compromises. Not everyone wants to compromise on the same thing.

No iPhone 4 style design, no single punch hole and no flush back.

Right now the best we can hope for is they ditch steel for titanium or aluminium because the weight is ridiculous now.

My Spigen case doesn’t even remove the wobble when the 13mini lies on its back…

The camera bump is one of the worst things about the phone. Terribly uncomfortable. If only the 12mini had the 13’s battery life.

Yep, looks like I’ll be hanging on to my 12 mini for years to come. I’m fine with the battery life, it’s only slightly worse than the 13 mini anyway. This camera thing has gotten completely out of hand, IMO. I was fine with the little bump on the X because the overall design was so sleek, and I’m okay with the bump on the 12 mini, but that’s where I draw the line. The camera upgrades really are minuscule anyway for the average consumer - which is something that camera comparisons between the top of the line 13 Pro and the new budget SE have proven:

I completely agree with you.

I’d imagine Apple continue go bananas on cameras because it’s their only sure fire way to get people to continue upgrading so frequently.

To me it is totally out of hand at this point

Apple is eliminating the 5.4-inch iPhone as it turned out to be unpopular with customers.

Sorry, I just reeeeaaaally hate this inane "unpopular model" argument when this model fills such an important niche for literally millions of consumers.

Those flush cameras were much smaller than the current ones.

Actually they didn't buy it because no wanted such a small phone for $700+.

Consumers are pretty dumb. They don't *know* it's the small phone if the word "Mini" isn't in the title.
