Do we know if justin is paying full price or extending an ATT contract?

I just ask because in his interview vid he mentioned being first in line for past 2 years.... so I'm assuming he's buying full price?

Maybe not.

Just curious ;)

Not trying to be an ****** here, but either your camping out for a week or your not. If you come and go for hours at a time, your out of line and no longer camping. Not trying to be an ******, just saying. Its like camping in the woods, you don't take a time out and go to apple bees then come back. I dunno, just my opinion. I know it is tough, but your cheating your adventure if you leave for hours at a time to hang out at someone's apartment.

Maybe somebody was holding his place for him. Regardless, sounds like the Apple store employees know him well, know he stays at the Apple store all day, and sleeps outside of it all night.. I would be very surprised if they allowed someone else to nab his first place spot because he went to take a 20 minute shower down the block.

I could go along with your line of reasoning if in fact Justin was camping for the sake of camping itself.

Clearly that is not his intent and he never said it was. His "camping" is a means to hold his place in line as the first person.

No.... He reserved the phone already. Sorry, but if he comes and goes regardless of some one keeping his place, I feel he's cheating. Now I agree that being in that kind of heat for a week is insane but he thought about that before going into this adventure of his.

Matter of fact it even says in one of apples policies somewhere I read that no one can keep your place in line. It's one of the reasons I am trying to find a babysitter for my son that morning, since my wife and me can't trade out places for breaks while waiting.

Let's put it like this, the news shows up to interview the camper aka Justin and he's not there? " so where's the camper? " Oh he is at someone's apartment taking a shower and eating a bowl of ice creme. * tires squeal as news van drives off *

How did you go to someone's apartment or shower at someone's apartment if your waiting in line or camping out?

I think it has become very clear that Justin is the official first person in line. Justin could go grab a bite to eat and everything would be fine when he got back.

Apple, Best Buy, etc have usually respected who the first person in line is (especially when they are there a week in advance).

I'm not sure why people get so hung up on this stuff. Justin's spot in line is covered.

It's nice of them to do that, but it seems a tad lame to me. Either you are camping out or your just goofing off. Again, I know it is hard, but he took on this challenge. If he is going to leave and go hang out at someone's apartment, he might as well sleep at his own place as well. Just wait there during the day or something. It just cheapens it for me. All I'm saying.

I doubt he's gone for hours at a time. Probably 20/30 minutes I would think. It's really not cheating at all. Especially since he is the ONLY one there. Although I do understand what you're saying. It's a non issue.

Now now, those in glass houses should not throw stones. ;)

so he shouldn't leave to go shower?

when your camping don't you jump in the lake to wash off and go pee? lol
Look, what he's doing is freaking hard. He is securing his spot in line for a week. If someone was to come there while he is gone, technically as unfair as it would be, they would be first in line.

That's why I asked him 20 something pages ago how he planned to shower and he said he brought some wipes.

I like Justin and all but you can't say your gonna camp out for a week and then leave. Bathroom breaks of course are understood, but traveling to someone's apartment. This place could be miles away. If people could do that while waiting in line, everyone would wait in line. I wouldn't do it for the iPhone, but you get my point. Go wait in line for the xbox and then come back to line after work in my same spot.

justin you say you are on unemployment right? you know the 1.2 million americans are going crazy right now because congress wont pass the extension for more unemployment tiers? I hope you are in your first regular claim, because you're withering away your time camping when you should be applying for a job.

If someone were to come by and be a douche while he were gone and decide to take his place, then maybe we would have an argument. But as long as he comes back and there's still nobody else there, it's a non-issue. He's not doing this for a Guinness world record or anything, he's having fun (and thankfully staying clean). And even if someone else were to come along, it would probably be someone who is fairly good-natured (at least enough to camp out for nearly a week) and who would understand when he needed to take a 20 min break.

He's on disability but also has his own business. When your on disability you can work a part time job and still collect disability. My old neighbor had the same problem as Justin.

Jesus dude. Are you the official camp out judge?

I've purchased each iPhone since 2007 on the first day they were available. My upgrade price for the 32GB iPhone 4 was $299.

Now, last year, with the release of the iPhone 3GS, my upgrade price was $499. That wasn't full price, but it was discounted by AT&T (from the full $699) as a courtesy to 3G owners. So, essentially, the last subsidized iPhone I purchased was the 3G in 2008. Thus, I am eligible for $299 this year.

I suspect Justin's situation is the same.

Guess you missed the point. If I go on Thanksgiving to camp out for black friday. I get there early and am first, then after a while I leave an go eat thanksgiving dinner, was I still in line? Sure maybe the manager will high five me when I get back and keep my place as number one, but I wasn't actually there.

He came here said he was camping out. Everyone thought it was amazing for someone to attempt this( or crazy ). He gets famous with the news etc cause everyone thinks he is going to camp out for a week. It seems impossible as he would be at that apple store for a week. Now I hear he went to someone's apartment and hung out while discussing his shower arrangements?!?! Uhh if everyone could do that camping out, we would all camp out for something. I didn't know you could take a break and go home.

Yes, but you dont have to call me Jesus. :D

Hey look, I defended Justin on engadget. I was the first person to post there defending him and told everyone to ****. It's on the first page of comments. I linked back to this thread. I am not trying to chit on Justins parade. He seems like a nice guy. I just don't want to see him tarnish his adventure by cheapening it. Use the wipes he brought. Stay in the apple store for some ac. Use their bathroom. All of that is fine, but don't leave dude!

If you purchased iPhone 3G on first day of launch your iPhone 3GS price should have also been $299 for 32GB. Apple/AT&T originally charged $499 for the phone but they later refunded $200 to each person who purchased the phone early the previous year.

+Rep for Justin from a fellow Texan down in Houston. He may be one of the few thats more of an :apple: fan than I am. It looks like there is no doubt he will be getting the iPhone 4 on launch day.

Talking about being nice.

He went to take a shower. He didn't go and play games or something. Just a shower. Who cares?

Whatever. I didn't know things worked like that. If they do, then never mind. I will drop it. I made my points.
